White House Spams Twitter Followers

Backfired! The White House finally stopped, with these parting words:

What Is Ramadan?

Ramadan 2011 began on or around August 1 and will end on or about August 29. Muslims, ever contentious about nearly every matter, even disagree among themselves as to when Ramadan should begin.

What does Ramadan really celebrate, particularly Eid ul-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan? If one understands the history of Islam and, especially, that of Ramadan, one will come to understand that such a commemoration, including iftar dinners at the White House, should be unacceptable to all those who oppose Islamic supremacism.

Ramadan involves more than prayers, fasting, and the giving of alms — all of which are part of the month long observance but which are also the outward signs of another message. By literal definition, of course, Ramadan commemorates Allah's "revealing" the Qur'an to Muhammad. But history clearly indicates that the "revelations" from Allah to Muhammad began around 610, some fourteen years earlier than 624.

Those earlier passages, sometimes referred to as the Meccan verses, are the oft-quoted peaceful verses in the Koran. Contrary to what one might expect, however, the last day of Ramadan does not celebrate the actual date of the earliest peaceful "revelations" of Allah to Muhammad but rather the Battle of Badr, the first significant military victory by the forces of Muhammad.

Nancy Pelosi — Still Unhinged

More unhinged than ever?

Pelosi needs to exchange her witch's wardrobe for a straitjacket.

She has bats in the belfry, perhaps courtesy of Botox:

Pelosi is not the only unhinged politician these days.

Tied Up In Knots — Never A Good Condition

(Apologies in advance for the length of this post. Now you know why I haven't been making blog rounds!)

When something like the deeds of mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik transpire, it is best not to respond in a knee-jerk fashion.

Yes, I did have such a reaction myself on the day following the atrocities committed in Norway and before enough facts about the man came to light.

Some background:

Update On Cameo

(If you must have politics, please keep scrolling)

In early June, I wrote about the health problem that was plaguing Cameo, our beloved Siamese-Russian Blue mix. The ultrasound of her bladder indicated a mass, at first thought to be a tumor but later turning out to be bladder stones (urolithiasis).

What weeks of ago Cameo and I went through! Agony for me because Cameo kept urinating outside the litter box, and agony for her because she would pass a stone on occasion. Stoic girl that Cameo is, she didn't cry out, but she did pass blood along with passing the stones.

Beyond the pain, Cameo also suffered from sleep deprivation, I'm sure. At one point, she was making trips to the litter pan every five minutes, sometimes trying to catch a few winks by sleeping next to the litter pan. For weeks upon weeks, Mr. AOW and I gently shouted to her around the clock, "Hurry, hurry, hurry! Put your butt down!"

No way could Cameo get enough rest!

The Astounding Hypocrisy of Barack Obama (With Addendum)

Hat tip to Mike's America for the following video of Obama's remarks to the House GOP Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, on January 29, 2010:

Mike comments:
Since then, Republicans won big in the November 2010 election and came back to Congress with multiple plans to address the budget, debt and entitlements. The response from Obama and the Democrats has been to demagogue GOP plans using every scare tactic in the book, like pushing Grandma off the cliff, and even some new ones (like Obama's veiled threat to withhold Social Security checks).
These kinds of inconsistencies in Obama's past and present statements need to be brought to the fore.

How To Call Obama's Bluff?

source for graphic

From Reliapundit of THE ASTUTE BLOGGERS, reminding us of how far it is to November 2012:
QUESTION FOR THE GOP: IS NOW THE BEST TIME TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE ECONOMY?

I WAS JUST WONDERING:

IF A CRASH IS COMING BETWEEN NOW AND NEXT YEAR...

AND IF, AS MANY ECONOMIST FEEL, IT'S INEVITABLE AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE TO STOP IT,

THEN MAYBE - JUST MAYBE - A COMPROMISE IS IN ORDER, AND MAKES POLITICAL SENSE,

SO OBAMA AND HIS COMRADES CAN'T SAY "I TOLD YOU SO" AND RUN AGAINST YOU IN 2012?

I MEAN, RIGHT NOW OBAMA OWNS THE ECONOMY.

AND IT'S TANKING.

AND CHINA'S BUBBLE MIGHT BURST.

AND THE EURO MIGHT COLLAPSE.

AND IF THEY DO, THEN THE STOCK MARKETS WOULD CRASH -

UNEMPLOYMENT WOULD HIT 11-15%

AND THE DOW AND GOLD MIGHT BOTH HIT 6000!

SO, WHY TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE ECONOMY NOW BY FORCING OBAMA TO ACCEPT EVERYTHING WE THINK IS GOOD AND RIGHT AND BASED ON SOUND PRINCIPLE?

MAYBE IT MAKES POLITICAL SENSE TO MAKE A GOOD COMPROMISE, AND RUN FOR FURTHER CHANGE IN 2012?

MAYBE TEA PARTIERS SHOULD ACCEPT A GOOD DECENT TURN TO THE RIGHT, AND NOT EXPECT [A] TOTAL 180 CHANGE RIGHT AWAY?
After all, Obama's ideas for righting our economy haven't worked so far.

Your thoughts on Reliapundit's strategy?

FEATURED QUESTION: Michele Bachmann

(This post stuck here for several days. Please scroll down for other posts)

Recently Chuck Thinks Right pointed out that GOP Presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann signed The Marriage Vow, which includes the following statement:
"Slavery had a disastrous impact on African-American families, yet sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African-American baby born after the election of the USA's first African-American President..."
The passage, which was on the front page of The Marriage Vow, has since been removed. Read the details HERE.

Nixon Was Forced Out For Less

Understand this: Project Gunrunner began in 2005. Operation Fast and Furious, deliberately allowing known smugglers to purchase firearms, began in 2009.

The present botched program, sometimes referred to as "Fast and Furious" or "The Gunwalker Scandal," does, however, involve governmental attempts at cover-up and hindrance of investigation.

Remember, it was the cover-up and the hindrance of the Watergate investigation that brought down the Nixon administration — not the break-in itself.

A simplification of the present scandal from the sidebar of Sipsey Street Irregulars:

Elderly woman asked to remove adult diaper during TSA search

A woman has filed a complaint with federal authorities over how her elderly mother was treated at Northwest Florida Regional Airport last weekend.

Jean Weber of Destin filed a complaint with the Department of Homeland Security after her 95-year-old mother was detained and extensively searched last Saturday while trying to board a plane to fly to Michigan to be with family members during the final stages of her battle with leukemia.

Her mother, who was in a wheelchair, was asked to remove an adult diaper in order to complete a pat-down search.

“It’s something I couldn’t imagine happening on American soil,” Weber said Friday. “Here is my mother, 95 years old, 105 pounds, barely able to stand, and then this.”...

Troubles Here (With Addendum)

Our beloved Cameo, 3/4 Russian Blue and 1/4 Siamese, is quite ill with a raging bladder infection.

At age 9, she should be able to recover, but this bladder infection has apparently been going on for several months. Mr. AOW and I didn't observe any overt symptoms until the last few days. Cats are very secretive and hide their illnesses until those illnesses are well advanced. **sigh**

The veterinarian has prescribed pain medications and antibiotics, with a special diet soon to follow.
