Our Ailing Economy

See 35 Shocking Statistics That Prove That Things Have Gotten Worse In America at Before It's News.

  1. Interesting list. Noting that some comparisons go back a ways, liberals with seize upon that and shout that it's not Obama's fault.

I will grant that he did not start the fire, but he sure as hell threw gasoline on it and has been busy fanning the flames.

  2. Obama is setting scores of new fires that will become an inferno while blaming Bush all the way.

  3. Our company is offering early retirement to 550 peeps. I wonder if they are even considered in the count of lost workers. Lost benefits and a much lower standard of living. Thanks Obama

  4. So, Obama's right ... the economy is rebounding?

  5. He said he would fundamentally change America. He didn't say the change would be for the better.

  6. I know I am off topic, but when I heard about this story you were the first person I thought to tell:

    http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/Muslim-Surveillance-NYPD-Attorney-General-Holder-Probe-141939633.html

Atty General Holder is upset that the NYPD is conducting surveillance at mosques in New Jersey. I haven't quite figured out whether he is upset that the NYPD is keeping an eye on mosques or that they are doing it in NJ. Let's keep an eye on this one....

  7. Great find, Always!
The unemployement stats are the most discouraging. Life is total crap when you need and want a job and can't find one...and it has a great deal of bearing on many of the other stats, like consumer debt.

  8. Thanks to Obama; a depression averted, Banks saved, Auto Industry saved, more jobs created than Bush created in 8 years, GDP going up, economy grown each month since the stimulus which also saved millions of jobs.

Yeah, it's bad, it's going to take more time to recover from the incompetence of those who put us here. The GOP (yes, Bush). Look Romney or any other GOP candidate and you'll see in their tax plans even more cuts to the middle class and tax breaks for the uber wealthy.

    Wake up leemings.

  9. Those are some depressing stats, must be George Bush's fault. Certainly not Barack Obama, he's just the president and promised utopia, he's got nothing to do with it. No Sir!

  10. It really doesn't matter what the reality is-it will always be Bush's fault.

  11. More on the Wreckovery, with several graphs.

Excerpt from the beginning text of the above:

Underemployment is 19.1%, up from 18.7% in January
    by Dennis Jacobe, Chief Economist

PRINCETON, NJ -- U.S. unemployment, as measured by Gallup without seasonal adjustment, increased to 9.1% in February from 8.6% in January and 8.5% in December....

  12. More from the link that I left in the above comment:

Regardless of what the government reports, Gallup's unemployment and underemployment measures show a substantial deterioration since mid-January. In this context, the increase in unemployment as measured by Gallup may, at least partly, reflect growth in the workforce, as more Americans who had given up looking for work become slightly more optimistic and start looking for work again. So while there may be positive signs, the reality Gallup finds is that more Americans are looking for work now than were doing so just six weeks ago.

Obama and the media keep lying. On and on it goes. But the reality on the ground is what it is -- and people DO know the truth because they are seeing the wreckovery proceeding apace all around them.

    Closed strip malls.

    More homes in foreclosure.

Older folks getting the jobs at McDonald's to the point that younger people are getting shut out of even those low-level jobs.

  13. Bunkerville,
Our company is offering early retirement to 550 peeps. I wonder if they are even considered in the count of lost workers.

Early retirees are not being counted the stats.

In addition, here in Northern Virginia, when people retire from jobs in the local government, many of those positions are done away with.

Those working part time and let go are not counted either, and those positions are done away with.

I know about the above because I know several of the former employees.

  14. Mike,
    Thanks for that link.

I fail to understand why mosques shouldn't be under scrutiny.

I say the same for any religious institution that has a CLEAR HISTORY of sedition, treason, or terrorism.

We know that many Islamic terrorists have a more than casual involvement with particular mosques -- Northern Virginia and New Jersey. Furthermore, the money laundering for terrorist groups is quite a lucrative activity in New Jersey; the government should be investigating those money-laundering operations, including any mosque or imam involvement.

So, what is Holder up to by objecting to surveilling those NJ mosques? Frankly, I can't think of an answer to that question without thinking of the word "treason."

  15. Freedom by the Way,
Life is total crap when you need and want a job and can't find one...and it has a great deal of bearing on many of the other stats, like consumer debt.

Not to mention the underemployed -- those of working for a lot less than our training or professions should earn. There are hordes of us! Yes, I'm one of the members of that horde.

Don't misunderstand. I get by right now. But what was once a choice for many of us (underemployment) is now what we're stuck with.

I read a few weeks ago that the Social Security Disability rolls have burgeoned. Why? People who lost their jobs have found a loophole, and the deciders for who gets disability are sympathetic. And more than that! If those no-prospects-for-work unemployed, albeit not truly disabled, people didn't get some money getting in, their debts and mortgages would go unpaid.

Of course, the cycle is vicious. Those payments from Social Security, followed in a maximum of 30 months by Medicare eligibility, are coming out of the taxpayers' funds. The situation is unsustainable.

  16. Right Wing Theocrat,
Ultimately, it doesn't matter WHOSE fault this mess is. What is the solution?

I have yet to year a viable plan from either the GOP or the Dems. **sigh**

  17. Silverfiddle and Brooke,
Yes, BHO and the Congress critters are fanning the flames.

Perhaps the point is to bring down the entire economic system and remake it along the lines of Europe.

Yeah, things are working out across The Pond. [sarcasm]

  18. Matt,
The travesty is that so many will blame Bush -- largely because the media promote that meme.

And there you have outlined the crux of our desperate situation, AOW.

It's easy --and maybe even fun -- to play The blame game, but where does it get us?

    The answer is NOWHERE.

It may be true that all of Mankind's woes stemmed from Eve and that damned Apple, but even it really IS all Eve's fault, what GOOD does it do US to blame her?

  20. FT,
Yes, it is a desperate situation.

Yet, most Americans don't seem to realize the situation. They're just "going along" -- down, down, down, IMO.

  21. Yes this article is just sad, and it's sad we got a retard in the white house who is more interested in playing to HIS fold than fixing it ! Geez what a mistake people made by drinking the Kool-Aid he was pouring in 08. If he would approve Keystone, it would create basically overnight over 15000 jobs . Not many considering the amount of people out of work, but the spin-off has been estimated to create another 100 000 jobs through new construction of facilities such as plastic manufactoring , chemicals etc. He is THE WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THIS GREAT NATION, and i can't understand how his approval can still be where it is ? Liberal media polls have a lot to do with it.
