Trayvon Martin? (With Addendum)

(Two posts today. Please scroll down for the other one)

Note THIS INFORMATION about Trayvon Martin, the story on the national news lately. If the information to which I'm linking in this post is accurate, Obama should retract his statement:
"If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon," Obama said in his first comments about the shooting...
Is the photo below a more up-to-date likeness of Trayvon Martin?

Please read THIS LINK. If the information in that link is accurate, the media are suppressing information that contradicting their present agenda.

Furthermore, Jesse Jackson should be held accountable for his recent statement that Trayvon Martin was "shot in the back of the head," as I heard on CBS News this morning. Such is not the case at all! He was shot in the chest.

Jesse Jackson said more:
Jackson said he would like to see the black population turn its anger over the death of Trayvon Martin into an energy directed at voter registration, economic inequity and other issues of discrimination and racial injustice.

"I would hope that movement would turn into Trayvon Martin voter-registration rallies," Jackson said in a press conference following the Sunday service.
Aha! There stands one agenda related to the shooting of Trayvon Martin!

Additional reading at THE ASTUTE BLOGGERS: "Barry's Son Wouldn't Look Like This." Worth your time.

Addendum:
ABC News confirms that Trayvon Martin was suspended from school for 10 days for possession of marijuana in mid-February.
Also be sure to read the comments to this post as I'm adding information in the comments section.

  1. Yes, now it is time for us whities to go through "self examination" as requested by our President who knows little more than us about the facts.

  2. Any informed President would have access to facts that the rest of us shouldn't have to be digging out.

    Note that I said "informed."

If Obama has been properly informed, he's promoting racial division as he is complicit. In fact, in such a scenario, Obama is both a racist and a demagogue. His appeal to pity was a logic fallacy and the act of a demagogue.

If Obama has not been properly informed, why not?

  3. "I would hope that movement would turn into Trayvon Martin voter-registration rallies,"

Basically they are a bunch of whores.

The sad part of all of this is that a 17 year old kid is dead and his life has become nothing more than a tool to re-elect Barack Obama.

I am starting to believe he assaulted Mr Zimmerman and I believe he was shot in self defense.

At the end of the day though, a 17 year old kid is still dead and another man's life lies in ruins.

If he were completely exonerated, Mr Zimmerman has had his life destroyed. The media will not take back all it has said about him. Obama will not have him over for a photo op, oops, I mean beer. The professional race-baiters will still attack him, ignoring the findings of innocence.

That is the one thing we know for certain right now, isn't it?

  5. The voter-registration agenda is quite interesting.

I think that, previous to the slaying of Trayvon Martin, Obama has had little success with his active call for African Americans to register. A lot of blacks feels as if Obama has done nothing for them in nearly 4 years in office. He's been so busy reaching out to the Islamic world, and some blacks have taken notice of that.

  8. As more facts come out, the narrative is evolving into the predictable direction ... Martin attacked and injured Zimmerman, the screams for help on the tape were coming from Zimmerman, the police cuffed Zimmerman and took him for questioning before releasing him on the evidence, Zimmerman now has a (black) friend coming out to say Zimmerman is no racist. I don't think the Progressive gang is going to get the race riots they desire out of this one after all.

  9. Good post, AOW.

    The media narrative is lame.

The statements from Jackson, Farrakhan, and the New Black Panthers are criminal.

All this being said, I think it also needs to be said, sporting gold teeth and tattoos, and donning a hoodie, are not at all uncommon, and they are not a reason for a person to be shot.

These facts do, however, demonstrate that the media is attempting to control the narrative.

Gold teeth, tattoos and hoodies are all attempts by a stupid young boy to look tough. The fact that this kid made such an effort to look tough also deserves to be part of the narrative.

Additionally, I think it needs to be noted that Trayvon donned the hoodie because he was being followed. This is spun by the girlfriend on the phone as a reaction to be afraid. Now, that could be true. He was being followed by Zimmerman. Maybe he was afraid. Maybe he decided to don the hoodie out of fear. But, if so, then his reaction to fear was to

    1) look tough

    2) increase suspicion of himself by masking his face

Of course, he would have had no idea that Zimmerman was playing neighborhood cop.

The whole story truly is a tragedy.

But, it is disgusting what the media is doing.

And, it is beyond contempt what the "black leaders" are doing.

  13. The rush to defend Zimmerman by right-wingers is ghastly.

Trayvon Martin had committed no crime. Zimmerman had no authority to confront him, attempt to question him and chase him down as was admitted on the 911 call.

The application of Deadly Force can only be justified by circumstances one knows prior to incident. Knowledge gained post hoc can not be used to justify the killing.

But, I don't expect any conservative to admit Zimmerman should not gone after Martin because it's somehow gotta be Martin's fault...

  15. I see everyone trying their best to put their noses into what should be left for the authorities to determine and judge by.

As I have said on another blog, comments should only be made about the laws, comments formally released by authorities and that is it. There are a number of serious reasons to limit comments to that.

The first is that facts are not always privty to us or the media and whatever comes out could also be fraudelant, not accurate or not relevant, especially to any legal judgement.

The second is that the rumour mills turn and churn.

The third is that if your ever involved in criminal or coronial inquries, what is actually admissable or applicable to the case is nothing like what we hear outside.

He said, she said and so on just does not have a value in the court. Even statements by Zimmerman to the public may and can be retracted, it is what is officially said that counts.

In almost every case I have read, studied or partaken in, the issues are facts, more facts, questioning those facts, elimenation of non-conclusive information and hearsay and then beginning to question and ultimately making a judgement.

We should be free and able to raise questions about the system and laws. Also, yes I agree to questioning inputs that may influence or hinder justice. I think Obama was very wrong to make any statement.

I have three questions that come to mind.

    1. In Florida Law, does the instructions (to not pursue)of the 9/11 Operator have any value to Zimmerman's actions/reactions?
    2. As the "neighborhood watch" representative does that, under Florida Law, have any responsibility or "position of trust"? (and thereby making him required to obey that instruction).
    3. Under Florida Law, is there not automatically a coronial inquest into any violent death?

    Damien Charles

  16. Look. I'm not into the rush-to-judgment thing.

However, the media is presenting what appears to be a slant on this story -- a slant that is very possibly promoting race war and vigilante justice.

Suppose that a white boy had been shot by a non-white. Suppose that a prominent group announced a bounty and swore "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth"? Suppose one of those objecting to the slaying of that hypothetical white boy were to tweet the home address of the person who shot the white boy. Would the media be ignoring THOSE developments?

And where is the media coverage of THIS STORY. I'll be coping and pasting the entire story in my comment(s) below.

Was Boy in K.C. Fire Attack a Victim of His School's Racist Teaching?

Was Boy in K.C. Fire Attack a Victim of His School's Racist Teaching?
    By Selwyn Duke

The boy raised his hand, eager to answer the question. "What would you know about it?" exclaimed the teacher dismissively. "You're not our race."

This was not dialogue from a Hollywood movie. According to a woman named Melissa Coon, it was what a teacher at East High School in Kansas City told her 13-year-old son, Allen, when he attempted to answer a question during Black History Month. Coon identifies that teacher as Mrs. Karla Dorsey, who is black; Allen is white.

As has already been reported, Allen was a victim of a vicious racial attack last week in which two older black teens doused him with gasoline and set him alight, saying, "This is what you deserve. You get what you deserve, white boy." Not surprisingly, Coon has pulled her son out of East High and, concerned about further racial violence, intends to leave the K.C. area.

While this crime is making headlines, Coon states that it was merely the horrible culmination of continual racial harassment her son had to endure at East High. Moreover, after conducting an investigation that included extensive interviews with parents and students, I've learned that Coon's son is not alone. Other white students also report a pattern of racial harassment at the high school at the hands of their peers -- and, shockingly, their teachers.

Two of these victims were the twin 14-year-old daughters (first names withheld upon request) of Karin Wildeisen. Ever since their family relocated from Texas, they had endured racial animosity in the Kansas City school system and inappropriate behavior by staff, which included teachers laughing while boys humiliatingly manhandled the girls and a teacher slapping one of them on the backside. But there was far worse to come.

The twins started coming home and talking about the goings-on in an advanced-English class taught by a teacher Wildeisen identifies as Ms. Veda Monday. Wildeisen said that her daughters told her, "There are four white kids in the class; they are being targeted racially." They said that Monday, who is black, was feeding the class racial material, about which Wildeisen notes, "She's teaching advanced English; she has no reason to be teaching civil rights."...

    ReplyDelete
  18. (continued from above)

Yet even putting the brutal fire attack aside, Melissa Coon's young boy by far got the worst of it. The tow-headed Allen looks like "the classic all-American white boy," says his mother, and "after the first week [of school] he was nothing but racially harassed." She says that "he was called every racial slur you can imagine," such as "honkey," "cracker," "whitey," and "guero" (a Spanish slang term for whites that can be used in a derogatory way). He was, she reports, pushed into lockers and was jumped in the bathroom. And even before the recent attack, he was sometimes menaced by groups that would follow him part of the way home.

Even more damning, though, is that multiple educators were complicit in the harassment. Mrs. Coon related an incident in which a teacher she identifies as Ms. Carla Kinder called Allen "Casper" and then "got all the students to get involved." Other times, the students would initiate the harassment, and the teachers would pick up the baton. "They would tease him; people would make fun of him, and they'd chime in," said Coon.

Then, as the Wildeisen girls report, as Ashley Miller reports, there were the race-baiting films. Said Mrs. Coon, "They showed a lot of racial movies. And people would make comments -- lots of comments -- especially at him [Allen], during these things."

And this brings us to the fire attack of last week. How is it that two teenagers would douse an innocent boy they don't even know with gasoline and set him alight? Karin Wildeisen has a theory. Referring to Ms. Monday's "English" class, she told me, "I think that the two boys who did this are going to be found in that teacher's class -- or somewhere thereabouts."

It sure seems likely, and what should we say about East High's "teaching" model? Well, imagine repeatedly showing films depicting blacks committing nothing but crimes against whites. Would there be any question about whether it was race-baiting? Even Amos 'n' Andy is frowned upon today.

The fact is that, to paraphrase Lincoln, "if you look for the worst in a group, you're sure to find it." If you display a group's sins to the exclusion of its triumphs ad infinitum, you can make it appear a den of demons. And ever since the advent of video technology, propaganda films have been used the world over to cultivate racial and ethnic hostility. It is Hate 101.

  20. No matter what the grand jury or a trial jury finds, Zimmerman is finished.

    Finished!

It won't matter one whit whether he's guilty or innocent.

Need I explain? Those clamoring for hunting him down right now will say, "Da man covered up his guilt," if Zimmerman isn't indicted (or convicted).

Even if Zimmerman were found innocent in a criminal trial, forces will line up for a civil suit -- a wrongful death suit.

You know, there really is something peculiar about this case, specifically, the fact that Martin's father didn't even report his son as missing right away. If Martin was such a good kid, why the delay?

  26. For the record:

...George Zimmerman, 28, a neighborhood watch volunteer with a long history of calling in everything from open garage doors to “suspicious characters,” called police to say he had spotted someone who looked drugged, was walking too slowly in the rain, and appeared to be looking at people’s houses. Zimmerman sounded alarmed because the stranger had his hand in his waistband and held something in his other hand.

The unarmed teen was carrying Skittles and a can of Arizona iced tea.

Zimmerman said he had stepped out of his truck to check the name of the street he was on when Trayvon attacked him from behind as he walked back to his truck, police said. He said he feared for his life and fired the semiautomatic handgun he was licensed to carry because he feared for his life....

Jackson is lying -- and he knows he is lying, too.

Jackson's statement is deliberately designed to be inflammatory.

And once this man has said such a thing, no amount of reason or evidence will convince some black people that Jackson lied.

On the contrary, unless Jackson himself publicly retracts that statement, the lie is believed because any evidence is from "da man" and, therefore, unreliable.

The media carried Jackson's comment as if it were the gospel truth!

  32. "He was suspended from school" - no, that does not make the person a criminal, dangerous or any form of excuse.

"That he may, was remported to be, or witnesses say he was sellling drugs at some point". Is not confirmed facts.

"That he has tattoos and golden teeth" - is not relevant.

"That he wore a hood" - ditto.

Zimmerman's statement to the public, is also not a confirmation of facts to a court, that is what "he said" and if he says it in court, then it is admissable.

Reverand Jackson saying that he was shot in the back of the head, is outrageous, he is neither in court, does not know the facts and thus is attempting to pervert the course of justice. In the UK if there was an actual court case or inquest, he could be charged.

Yes the media love making things from it and interest groups will use this tragic event for their own agenda and that is even worse - and it is obvious on both sides. Just as much as some sides are certainly making everything out that Zimmerman was an evil, racist shoot first thug, I noticed that FOX is also attempting to justify the death, also wrong BEFORE any inquiry is done.

Here, our media would attempt to do the same in a similar event, but laws are much tougher to do so, it to protect the innocent until proven guilty and other influence peddling.

  38. I think what you've had here is a clash between TWO distinctly unpleasant, anti-social types who more or less mirrored each other's negative characteristics.

I do not know whether this black boy was in that neighborhood for a legitimate purpose, or whether, as some have suggested, he was there merely to "case the joint" for possible future robbery or vandalism, or whether he went there just to stir up trouble, because he knew he didn't really belong there, and was bound to raise more than a few eyebrows at the very least.

If this Zimmerman was the nit-picking, fault-finding, self-righteous type who goes out looking for trouble in order to have a "good" excuse to vent his pent up hostilities, he certainly found what he was looking for. I, personally, consider such busybody types to be obnoxious and thoroughly reprehensible. Such people a born would-be tyrants.

Add "race" to the mixture of ardent authoritarianism with mischievous, anti-social, possibly criminal behavior, and you've got something really dangerous.

Martin was suspended a number of times from Krop Senior High School in Miami Gardens for infractions ranging from tardiness and truancy up to possession of marijuana and a screwdriver that the school's security staff described as a "burglary tool."

The troubling incidents date back to October 2011, when Martin was allegedly caught with a horde of women's jewelry and the aforementioned screwdriver, according the Miami Herald. According to a report issued by Trayvon's school district, on October 21, security camera footage showed Trayvon Martin and two other students writing "W.T.F." on a hallway locker. A security guard saw the footage, detained Trayvon and searched his bag for the offending marker. In the process of the search, the guard uncovered 12 pieces of women's jewelry, a watch and the screwdriver....

Law enforcement needs to be done by pros.

    I won't argue with that.

But Neighborhood Watch groups have become a necessity because the police can't be everywhere.

Zimmerman was on the lookout in a neighborhood with a lot of trouble with burglaries.

Zimmerman did have a permit to carry concealed -- or so I've read.

Should he have been carrying as a member of Neighborhood Watch? According to their regs, no. However, had he not been carrying, Zimmerman might well have been the dead individual. We just don't know exactly what happened. I think that it is POSSIBLE that Martin pursued Zimmerman. Again, we just don't know.

According to Tweets to the dead "Da Nigga" (or some such as Martin identified himself on Twitter), a "tribute" to Martin praised him for stomping on Zimmerman.

I don't think that Zimmerman pursued Martin because Martin was black. I DO think that Martin jumped Zimmerman because Zimmerman is not black. Just my theory.

    Probably so.

However, it may be that LEGALLY Zimmerman did nothing criminally wrong.

IF Zimmerman had not spotted Martin, both would be alive right now.

IF Martin had not attacked Zimmerman (assuming that were the case -- use of subjunctive here), then both would be alive.

    If, if, if....

I do wonder if a grand jury will indict Zimmerman in the hopes of avoiding race riots. Such a bill would be a travesty of justice -- if that bill were to come down for such a reason.

The conservative black pastor who was once the chapter president of the Garland, Texas NAACP called Jackson and Sharpton “race hustlers” and said they are “acting as though they are buzzards circling the carcass of this young boy.”

  52. Good morning, AOW,

Usually, I'm catching up with email at this hour, but email is not functioning today, so I'm here a little early.

Bloviating Zeppelin just raised a significant point, I think, unintentionally.

From what I've been able to gather BZ considers him or herself to be "Conservative," yet BZ is, apparently, so badly afflicted with the sickness of political correctness that he or she felt compelled to direct this remark at me:

    '"Black BOY."

'You just showed YOUR racial stripes, sir.'

Well, I'm sorry, but this poor dead character was, indeed, black and he was a boy -- certainly not a girl, certainly not yet a man -- so I cannot see anything wrong in what I said, and refuse to accept criticism for it.

BZ obviously does not know it, but he or she has been so conditioned and so internally cowed by the assault led by Cultural Marxists that he or she is unconsciously doing their bidding by succumbing to these absurd restrictions the Marxists have succeeded in building into our language.

Now if I had called the dead boy "that damn nigger" or "that no account porch monkey" or something of the sort, BZ might have had a case, but when a person is accurately described as what they are -- in this case "a black boy," or more formally "a Negro youth" -- the criticism is not only unwarranted it's symptomatic of the disease with which the nation has been deliberately infected by those who have sought for well over a hundred years to destroy our civilization.

It also reveals another destructive attitude that has very sadly become part of who we are -- the very tendency this fellow Zimmerman, himself, displayed -- and that is to look at things primarily for the purpose of finding fault. The phrase made popular in the enemedia is "looking for the GOTCHA! moment."

Not to pick endlessly on BZ, but it's pretty obvious from the tone of his or her remarks that there was no interest in understanding the meaning of my remarks, but only a desire to find something that might justify making an unpleasant criticism.

Sorry to belabor the point, but I think it's very important to note that THIS is the exact way the Cultural Marxists have conditioned us TO TURN ON EACH OTHER -- as the Republican Primary candidates have done with their circular firing squad methodology -- instead of focusing our critical and analytical capabilities on crippling and destroying THEM -- our cultural and ideological enemies.

It's a very very important point I have just made. I wonder how many will see its significance, instead of taking it as a point of departure to justify yet-another set of barbed remarks misdirected at a potential ally?

  53. FT,
BZ is an officer in law enforcement. I think that, like teachers, police officers are taught not to use the term "boy" in reference to a black male of any age. I know this for a FACT because I received such instructions in one of my teacher's training classes.

BZ's web site in indeed a conservative one, and BZ is not typically politically incorrect.

BZ is also blogging about Trayvon Martin.

  54. FT,
You know, this cultural Marxism as divided us to the point of no return -- or to the point of some kind of revolution.

I've seen America divided before, but never so hyped up with rudeness. Not speaking of BZ here as he is "a friend" on the web.

But all of us -- left, right, and center -- are on edge. Myself included. Sometimes I have to restrain myself from exploding when I make comments. At home, I say so often, "What is WRONG with people?" If I were a drinking person, I'd be at the bottom of Jack Black every single day.

Hey, is it okay to type in "Jack Black"? [sarcasm]

PS: My email was working earlier, but I haven't really responded to anything there yet. Too busy planning an outing this weekend -- plus fixing breakfast, getting ready to go to work, all the usual. The Beak may be coming to DC for a day! 58. " ...like teachers, police officers are taught not to use the term "boy" in reference to a black male of any age. I know this for a FACT because I received such instructions in one of my teacher's training classes."

Yes, and that is is precisely what I mean when I say the Cultural Marxists have been so successful in permeating our culture with absurd, divisive nonsense in the names of "sensitivity," and "fairness."

Like every other word we know the true meaning is found not so much in the word, itself, but in the TONE and CONTEXT in which it's used.

By politicizing and potentially criminalizing virtually everything in reach and in sight the left has successfully HAMSTRUNG the majority, and made it impossible to be themselves without giving "offense" that is deemed reprehensible and punishable.

I have been blest to be able to remain independent of any organization for many years, so my views are no longer "realistic," I know, but I am not unaware of what would be expected of me were I to return to the work force in any capacity.

The way things are set up today becoming a slave to Political Correctness is inevitable. I think that's a tragedy for this nation-- and for all of Western Civilization.

Eventually this tyrannical stifling of free will and honest opinion WILL backfire, and when it does, the explosion is likely to be more devastating than Krakatoa, Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Mount St. Helens combined.

The Truth may not be pretty -- and it certainly never flatters anyone -- but eventually it must prevail, and it is the only thing that could ever set us free.

God IS Truth among many other things, so we KNOW positively Truth cannot fail. It is our attempts to DENY Truth that bring about all the trouble.

    ~ FreeThinke

  59. Just to reemphasize:

My reaction to BZ's comment was not really directed at BZ, nor was it an attempt to "get back at it him," or criticize him personally.

It was -- as I have said too laboriously -- an attempt to share my perception and understanding of the degree to which PC has permeated and taken over our culture without most of us even being aware of it.

The major thrust of work the Cultural Marxists have performed over the past century has been done insidiously -- by craft, guile, stealth and subterfuge. Their true intentions have always been cloaked in the guise of something OTHER.

They have succeeded so well in subverting, perverting, misrepresenting the Christian understanding of righteousness that it now serves a totalitarian agenda.

Isn't Satan also known as The Great Deceiver?

In that case the Cultural Marxists -- Communists, Socialists, Liberals, Progressives, Democrats -- whatever you want to call them -- truly have become Servants of the Devil.

Looking at your language, I suspect your a child, or still one at heart. "Or are you just an idiot?"

I repeat my point. You call the dead youth a "punk" and call it a fact. Your claim to knowledge is the newspapers. Enough said, your not even serious and just one who like to mouth off.

My point is, and I will repeat it again and again, we do not know all the facts, no matter how much the Newspapers or TV Pundits or even "get paid a lot to sound exciting lawyers" on TV shows.

More importantly, if/when there is a legal inquest, they are not going to give a flying fig to those shouting because "they read it in the paper" and consider the youth a "punk" all based on their opinions.

Equally so, I not only condemn the media and the political parties trying to score voter points but I even more condemn the so-called moral crusaders like Rev Jackson who had to open his mouth and assume innocence on the youth - because he was black.

We simply do not know the entire story, it could very well be that he jumped Zimmerman because he was more and more becoming a "punk", but we do not know.

Anyone who thinks they know, is simply guessing and fooling themselves.

Concentrate, as in fact AOW is, on the amount of politics involved. Even better, spend time on looking at the implications of the law and socially if the matter is not cleared up. I do not fear for Zimmerman, I disagree that he is "cooked", simply because there is just as much overzealous speculation focusing on the youth which counterbalances it. Just another typical day of media and blog frenzy.

By the way Paladin, your gross negligent assumptions about everything is the sign of a ratbag who loves to see exciting words typed under his name on blogs. That juvinile sample is clear enough with your postings, foul language, name calling and blindly stupid remarks like "half wits from Merry Ol England", "UK shithole"..."limey socialist"

I had read that he was suspended for breaking into an unauthorized area of the school. Perhaps that's how he was busted for pot - he broke into somewhere on school property he wasn't supposed to be to spark up his doobage.

(Me and my friends back in high school used to break into the school's underground fallout shelters to smoke cigarettes... full disclosure)

George Zimmerman reported to police (it's on the 911 tapes) that he appeared to be "on drugs."

When kids gangsta dress, put outrageous things on social web site, smoke, drink, etc,, they are sending a message -- sometimes not a message that they intend to send because so many teenagers are striving to be cool and to garner peer approval.

That neighborhood where Martin was wearing the hoodie (etymologically related to "hoodlum," BTW) had suffered multiple burglaries, and the residents were FED UP.

As one whose house was burglarized, I do understand how the residents of the gated community felt. Home invasion is a terrible thing! And I'm not referring only to the financial loss, which often can be recovered from. The psychological effects of home invasion last long and result in sleepless night after sleepless night.

We have prowlers like that woman you've described here too.

But they don't always prowl. Instead, they get out their binocular and their zoom-lens cameras. Then, they hop onto the county web site, which has FRONT AND CENTER the number to call to report violations. Even if I've already moved something that temporarily violates a zoning ordinance (Don't ever leave out in plain sight a sprinkling can or other other items for more than 48 hours!), that nosy neighbor has photos to show the zoning enforcement officer.

Now that we have a handicapped ramp here -- it's a big one -- the county ignores my neighbor's complaints.

Meanwhile, this same neighbor hauls her raked leaves and grass clippings ACROSS THE STREET and dumps this "arboreal waste" onto my back lot, which is wooded. She doesn't sneak around when she does this. Oh, no! It's not a violation of county ordinance for her to dispose of "arboreal waste" in that manner. Go figure!

The media didn't do so, IMO. Rather, the media full well knew more details about Trayvon Martin than they were telling.

Lately, the media have been backtracking a bit. Why? Because bloggers started digging up other info and blasting it all over the place.

Now, Trayvon Martin's parents are complaining that their son's reputations is being maligned. Well, these parents KNEW that Trayvon was no "lamb of God"; according to Trayvon Martin's video interview at Time, he called his son "the lamb of God." I do sympathize with grieving parents. Yes, I do. But if they hadn't gone so public with their son's death, Trayvon Martin's reputation wouldn't have been "maligned" in the first place!

New Orleans Officer Resigns after Trayvon Comments

NEW ORLEANS — A New Orleans police officer has resigned after being suspended for posting a comment on a local television station's website about the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin in which he suggested the Florida teen died like a "thug."

Jason Giroir used his full name and identified himself as a New Orleans Police Department employee when he wrote, "Act like a thug die like one!" in response to a WWL-TV article about a rally supporting Martin.

Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas suspended Giroir indefinitely without pay Monday. On Tuesday, Giroir resigned after being told allegations against him had been sustained and a hearing to begin his termination was in motion.

The 17-year-old black teenager was unarmed and shot in Sanford, Fla., by a neighborhood watch captain who said he acted in self-defense.
