The Broken Promises Of ObamaCare

With a hat tip to Adrienne's Corner:

  1. I saw a video at Carol's blog of him holding press conferences with foreign leaders at the White House. He told every single one of them one or both of these -
    1. America has no greater ally than .... insert name of country the person sitting next to him was leading.
    2. The aforementioned country punches above its weight.

It was as if the man was simply incapable of seeing the emptiness of his platitudes. This video of his broken promises over obamacare reminds me of that video. He probably has no recollection of having made those promises, so in his mind, he never broke any promise.

Indicative that suns go down ––

And that says far better than I could my feelings about the chances that the Supreme Court will "strike down" Obamacare.

If you've been listening to C-Span's Washington Journal this morning, you would realize that The All Powerful Establishment -- please don't kid yourself that YOU have any say whatsoever in what the government will do –– is dead set against rejection or repeal. C-Span's coverage has shown only "demonstrators" who fully SUPPORT this abomination."

I truly believe The United States of America is doomed. We are fast becoming The Union of Soviet Socialist States of Amerika.

The people are DEMANDING it, don't you know?

"We" have been marginalized as "the fringe right," don't you know?

Welcome to The New Dark Ages!

The last such period went on for hundreds and hundreds of years.

The Achilles heel in our system is situated in our founding ideals. We made it mandatory that we tolerate both the intolerant and the intolerable.

    BIG MISTAKE!

  4. FT,
The Achilles heel in our system is situated in our founding ideals.

And let us not forget the impunity that SCOTUS has, especially since John Marshall began the expansion of that power.

I highly doubt that SCOTUS will take down ObamaCare. Trim it back? Possibly.

If SCOTUS rules that the federal government can force American citizens to buy a product, we'll see the expansion of that ruling to include what kind of car we drive, how much square footage we are allowed to own for our homes, etc., etc.

  5. Right Wing Theocrat,
I saw that video elsewhere and nabbed it for a future posting.

It seems that some people in Europe see Obama for the empty suit he is!

    You are so right, AOW.

  7. It was a wasted effort, but I want to tell you in the period preceding Pelosi's strong-arming the vote for Obamacare through the House, I spent three weeks on the computer and at the telephone 8-12 hours a day writing to every member of congress I could contact and phoning every member of the House repeatedly.

The lines were so choked up with protestors it often took me 60-80 attempts before I could even get through to an answering machine. I managed to talk to a real live human being only 27 times, but I failed to get through altogether to many ore than that, because most of them they simply shut off their telephones.

I even sent a letter via the Post Office to all the Representatives -- a big effort and a considerable expense for one person -- and I might as well have been whistling Dixie down a drainpipe for all the good it did.

It literally made me ill. I came down with the flu and had to spend two weeks mostly resting in bed in order to recover what that exercise took out of me.

When fighting the system always proves to be an exercise in futility how long could to take before either we become a nation of slaves -- or finding ourselves in the midst of a bloody revolution?

One very rude fellow at Representative Kanjorski's office told me flat out, "They're GONNA pass it, so you might as well save your breath."

    IMPOSSIBLE!

  8. AOW,

Before this is all over, the government will find a way to poison the atmosphere and then force us to buy Government-Issued Gas Masks in order to be able keep on breathing.

    Am I kidding?

Not really! We're getting closer to that kind of thing every day.

What kills me is the way the mealy-mouthed law professors, and mewling liberal apologists in the media are all talking in calm, level monotones about this issue as though it were merely an ACADEMIC exercise without flesh and blood consequences.

The most disgusting thing about the SOCTUS situation is that this momentous decision will very likely hinge on Anthony Kennedy, who has all the appeal -- and probably the intellect -- of an unseasoned boiled potato.

Sorry to be so dour and pessimistic today, but I see no reason not to be, do you?

  9. fT,
I'm just as pessimistic as you are.

    NOTE THIS:

SCOTUS skeptical of idea that mandate is a tax

On the first day of oral arguments in the case challenging President Obama's national health care law, justices seemed skeptical that the individual mandate should be considered a tax -- one of the main consitutional defenses being offered for the law....

    More at the above link.

  10. Tax Shmax!

The PEOPLE do NOT want it.

Doesn't that carry ANY weight with ANYONE in DC?

I feel like I'm going to bust a gut -- and I can't afford to let that happen, AOW. There's no one here to pick up the pieces.

Thanks for the link. I did hear a lot of that stuff on C-Span this AM from those mealy-mouthed types I mentioned above,

Do you ever feel like you're tied to the RR tracks and you can feel them start to vibrate under you?

  11. FT,
The present regime is NOT responsive to the will of the people.

I blame the Congress critters even more than I blame Obama! They will not reign him in!

Do you ever feel like you're tied to the RR tracks and you can feel them start to vibrate under you?

That is an apt description, FT.

If SCOTUS upholds ObamaCare, America as a nation other than a socialistic one is finished.

There will be no end to what the federal government can order us to buy if SCOTUS rules that the federal government can force private citizens to buy particular products! Even my liberal neighbor, who does support ObamaCare, admits that the individual mandate is unconstitutional.

  12. AOW said: "America as a nation other than a socialistic one is finished."

    Geez, AOW, bombast much?

Right...repeal Obama Care and let Health Care costs sink our economy. You really want to go back to a time where insurance companies can deny coverage? That was the real 'death panel.' You want to have to hold a spaghetti dinner at the local VFW lodge to pay for a family member's heath costs so you won't have to sell your house? WAKE UP.

Let's join the rest of the civilized nations of the planet and provide health care for all. We're 37th on health care delivery.

  13. Liberalmann,
You don't have a clue as to what this household has gone through with illness and outrageously high health-insurance premiums.

Start HERE, and get a clue.

ObamaCare does NOTHING to address the problems most needing reform.

You want to have to hold a spaghetti dinner at the local VFW lodge to pay for a family member's heath costs so you won't have to sell your house?

ObamaCare leaves medical bankruptcy in place. HEALTH INSURANCE DOES NOT NECESSARILY PREVENT MEDICAL BANKRUPTCY. ObamaCare has nothing in it about maximum out-of-pocket limits.

I know more about health insurance than you'll EVER know.

  14. It may not add much to THIS particular discussion, AOW, but I've been both fascinated and dismayed to how easily a relatively trivial matter like the Martin-Zimmerman affair grabs the lion's share of attention away from a truly IMPORTANT issue like the ugly and debilitating long-term effects Obamacare is certain to have on society.

Once again the Cultural Marxists, who govern and operate the enemedia, have succeeded in DISTRACTING the citizens of this nation and DRAWING their ATTENTION AWAY from awareness and proper conduct of the nation's business.

For instance, I just happened to see a WSJ headline that the tax on DIVIDENDS is due to rise from 15% to more than 43% by the end of 2012, if congress doesn't do something to stop it.

Right now I give 25% of my disposable income away to people I know who are in desperate need. If the tax hike occurs, I will no longer be able to help others as much as I have in the past.

ANOTHER destructive effect of the hideous Marxicrat policies we're being subjected to under the Obama-Reid-Pelosi Triumvirate.

    These people MUST be stopped.

  15. FT,
    Quick reply here. Work calls....

That huge hike in capital gains tax will hit the middle class -- and even the lower middle class, particularly when homes are sold for retirement or to settle an estate.

    ------------

BTW, one reason that I posted about Trayvon Martin is that I see my parents and students falling for the propaganda in the mainstream media. I do see "white guilt" as part of the reason that so many people are willing to condemn Zimmerman before the facts are in.

  16. FT,
I just noticed this earlier comment from you:

It literally made me ill. I came down with the flu and had to spend two weeks mostly resting in bed in order to recover what that exercise took out of me.

I had a similar experience, but didn't fall that ill. I was, however, physically ill after sustained correspondence with my so-called Representative on Capitol Hill. He no longer wants to hear from me, and I think he has blocked emails from me.

They were determined to enact ObamaCare, and the will of the people be DAMNED.

Yet, Americans just go along and "forget" what's happening right in front of their eyes.

  17. When Obamacare was being presented, they claimed it would not increase taxes.

Now they are arguing before the Supreme Court that it is a new tax.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Beamish,
    Yes.

Obama presented ObamaCare as the way to control rising health-insurance premiums. It hasn't worked that way:

...Barack Obama repeatedly claimed that his health-care plan would lower annual family health-insurance premiums by $2,500 before the end of his first term as president. But the Kaiser Family Foundation recently reported that the average family premium has increased $2,200 since the start of this administration.

Then there is the higher cost to taxpayers. The CBO's initial estimate in March 2010 of ObamaCare's budget impact showed it saving money, reducing the federal deficit by $143 billion in the first 10 years. But that positive estimate was largely the product of gimmicks inserted into the bill by Democratic leaders to hide the law's true cost.

Sure enough, the administration last October announced it would not implement one of those gimmicks, a long-term care program called the Class Act, because it was financially unworkable. The loss of the premiums that would be collected to finance the Class Act wiped out $70 billion of the supposed deficit reduction projected by CBO. And last month the administration's proposed fiscal 2013 budget included $111 billion in additional spending for the premium subsidies in the health law's insurance exchanges—further eroding any confidence in the original ObamaCare projections....

    ReplyDelete
  19. Is there really anyone who had confidence in the CBO or Obama predictions of the cost of this??

    Really?

You would have to be educated in a government school to actually believe that government prediction regarding the cost of a government program was going to be accurate.

The biggest saving grace of Obamacare is not the Supremes but reality.

If this thing stands, the costs will cause America to go bankrupt sooner and it will be repealed because we can not afford it.

  20. Blogginator,
I am ever amazed at how many people will believe almost ANYTHING on an "official" piece of paper. That includes folks who think that student test results are the gospel truth and set in stone. I'm speaking of certain types of tests: IQ, aptitude, etc.
