These car enthusiasts clearly don't know what they're talking about. The government says that 15% ethanol is OK, so surely it MUST be, right?
Ugh.
Also, don't get me started on the folly of burning food when there is plenty of energy resources available that the government will not allow us to tap.
AOW-- My poor Crown Vic as well. I sure am not going to do one thing to her! The old girl is 13 years young and not one problem. I am so sick of this total nonsense.
Bunkerville, My Crown Vic, a police interceptor with 135,000 miles on the odometer, has cost me very little in repairs; and I got the car for 1/2 the book value, thanks to the spendthrift ways of a county here in Northern Virginia.
The car literally saved my life when I was rear-ended by an illegal who ran a four way stop sign. Had I been driving the Mustang that day, I'd not be here at all, I'm sure.
I drive as if I have a raw egg under my right foot, so I get decent gas mileage out of a car with a huge engine.
This is wrong on so many levels. It makes my blood boil when I read about what this administration is doing to our country daily... sometimes 47 times a day. Sheesh.
E15, isn't that nice. You get to pay more for your gasoline, more for your food (think of all the animals fattened on corn) and, now you get to pay more for car repairs. Isn't Big Brother great?
Alcohol is actually more expensive than gasoline to produce. Its corrosive and has a natural affinity for water that makes it impossible to ship by pipeline. Activists always tout its supposed cheaper price and cleaner burn but a gallon of alcohol produces far less energy than a gallon of gasoline. In other words you get less miles per gallon.
I read today that for the first time, more corn will be processed into fuel than food. That can't be a good thing.
Warren, a gallon of alcohol produces far less energy than a gallon of gasoline. In other words you get less miles per gallon.
No kidding! Once ethanol was added to gasoline, I noticed a drop in the mpg on the cars I was driving -- the cars with high-performance engines, I mean.
I read today that for the first time, more corn will be processed into fuel than food. That can't be a good thing.
Already, we have seen a rise in the price of milk, eggs, and pork. Any corn-fed livestock, for that matter. I expect those prices to rise even more.
Conservatives On Fire, As if the cost of car repairs isn't already over the moon! This household is being slammed right now with car repairs that Mr. AOW used to do. We are astounded at the prices of the repairs!
15% ethanol is not good for ANY fuel-burning vehicle, much less classic vehicles.
Corrosion becomes a factor when there is condensation. It kills fuel lines and systems and becomes MORE corrosive the greater percentile of enthanol introduced.
Second, ethanol is LESS energy efficient than straight petroleum.
And third, at a time when Mr Obama and the EPA want maximal CAFE ratings, you are guaranteeing FEWER miles per gallon with ethanol, due to its energy INEFFICIENCY.
Finally, the corn diverted to ethanol is that amount of corn NOT being used for human consumption.
It is STUPIDITY in the name of jerking off the American public and fulfilling promises to the Religious Leftists in the nation.
Google "MTBE" in Fornicalia and see what you get. THAT was lorded as a great Religious Leftist/EPA idea as well. It resulted in EVERY underground tank from EVERY gas station in Fornicalia being ripped out at OWNER EXPENSE.

Rampant regulating is what is killing this economy.

I've have a 2000 Mustang GT and a 1996 Crown Victoria. If I have to "retro fit" these cars, I'm going to be furious.
ReplyDeleteThis should help food prices around the world.

Silverfiddle,

Yes!
Most people don't have a clue as to all the regulations that have been put in place under Obama.
Woodsterman,
ReplyDeleteSo much for heading off the global famine, huh?
Brooke,
ReplyDeleteThis administration is doing so much to tank the economy -- and our individual households as well.

ReplyDeleteIts just stupid on so many levels.

The Left's version of population control?
Cube,
ReplyDeleteI wish that someone would publish a book listing and expounding upon all the regulations that are "enslaving" us.

Something similar happened in NYC as well.
So far, only NY and CA have laws regarding MTBE -- emphasis on SO FAR.

The rip-off of Americans at the hands of the EPA continues apace.
