It is not always artifacts they destroy, also the culture of the conquered land. Iranians today are Muslims not Persians.

I think the Science Channel is doing a special reporting that Egypt's landmarks were built by aliens, using tractor beams??? heh Perhaps they will return (the Liberals keep telling us they will return to save the earth) and save the sphinx.

That would be true travesty should those priceless and beautiful artifacts were to be destroyed.

I do not wish for the destruction or marring of the Sphinx. However, were such a thing to happen, it might wake up some snoozers and dhimmis.
