Obama's Bus Tour Was Faked?

(Two posts today. Please scroll down)

Caveat: Note that the title of this post is a question. I haven't been able to confirm the information below.

From this source:
...The so called “Bus Tour” was not a bus tour at all!

An AP reporter said that Obama might have ridden these expensive buses only one mile at each stop. Therefore, it wasn’t really a “BUS TOUR”! Obama spent most of the “BUS TOUR” on an airplane traveling between stops. It looks like Obama has scammed the American people again........with the help of the liberal media. It’s no damn telling just how much this “show” cost the American taxpayer....

[...]

And don't forget........those brand new shiny black buses aren’t DRIVEN to the location where they meet Obama. Those buses are loaded up on one or more C-17s. Then, they are flown to the destination ahead of AirForce- AND!.......this is REPEATED FOR EVERY CAMPAIGN STOP. On this 'bus tour', the Prez will lecture the 'little people' on how they need to live within their means and cut-back!

Remember when very recently Obama told that family man to GO BUY A HYBRID VAN when he said he couldn’t afford to fill up his truck???? Obama's 'carbon footprint' must be as large as most cities by now.

All of this on the taxpayer's dime.....But remember, this is NOT a campaign trip - it is "Meet with the people" trip only! So that the DNC does NOT pay a cent for all of this...
More at the above link.

Honestly, I hope that this story isn't true. The very idea that any President would do such a thing as fake an expensive bus tour is appalling beyond words.

I've got a busy day ahead of me, and I'm relying on commenters to verify or debunk this story.

  2. Soapster,
Well, it does matter if the entire bus tour was faked. For one thing, such fakery would show how desperate Obama is to get re-elected.

Of course, so much about this administration is smoke and mirrors.

  3. Of course he wants to get re-elected but who cares? This is truly what I don't get about some of these conservative bloggers.

The amount of time and energy expended on Obama could be far better channeled towards much more productive efforts. Take Mal for example. It seems to be his schtick but to what end?

So he gets a bunch of readers who praise his analysis. He's not winning converts and so it begs the question of its significance.

Same thing here. Obama's policies are horrendous. I get it. But you know something? It's very easy for one to know what it is they do not want.

It's quite a different thing for someone to know precisely what it is they do want and an even greater thing for an individual to actually expend time and energy in actually bringing that about.

  4. Soapster, (suspicious name) And you're being more productive how?

Nothing BO does or has reportedly done surprises me anymore. Keep up the good work, On Watch. Some of us appreciate it.

  5. This administration is a chintzy, cheap imitation of a real one.

I'm still waiting for someone to pop out laughing and tell us this whole Obama thing was a gigantic hoax played upon the American people (not really, but it would make a great SNL sketch, or maybe an Onion article.)

It's your choice as to which sites to read.

Frankly, it's not your business to pass judgment on other bloggers' choices of posts.

  7. Silverfiddle,
Along the lines of the Capicorn film? I don't recall the exact title of the film, but I remember that it starred James Brolin and posited that the moon landing never happened except on a film set.

  8. This whole man's life is a fake. From Jakarta, to books he didn't write, to transcripts we have never seen.

Even the lefties are figuring it out. I googled the "bus tour" and it seems everyone else thinks its BS too.

  9. For Obama to do such a thing would not surprise me in the least, nor the MSM for it's complicity.

The depth of corruption is what is unfathomable!

I hope that Pat Dollard has some kind of confirmation.

In these days before a "controversial" Presidential election, so much is floating around that is untrue. **sigh**

And wouldn't it be something if I could show my Obama-supporting friends that the bus tour was one big hoax? I can see their jaws hitting the floor right now. LOL.

Thanks. I appreciate your kind words.

With all that goes on in the household, where I am the sole caregiver of my husband following his stroke nearly two years ago, it's a wonder that I manage to post anything at all!

  20. I wouldn't be surprised at all coming from the Obama administration.

I did read that they had booked a whole wing of a tony hotel near the first stop. Why not just sleep in the decked out bus? Because nothing's too grand for Obama. He's entitled to only the very best.

Well, isn't that just charming? [sarcasm]

  23. Woodsterman,
No need for an apology! The question was appropriate.

You know, we bloggers (and others) all do what we can -- given the various restraints we have.

Blogging is an outlet for me. I'm pretty isolated and shut in these days. Not complaining, just sayin'.

Guess that I overlooked that nuance about sarcasm. Somewhat, anyway.

  27. If this is true, I wouldn't be surprised, but I'll wait until there is some verification. We get too many stories that we jump on and then find they really didn't happen quite the way they were reported.

Beware of disinformation campaigns, designed to set up the Right and make them look like fools who will snap at anything.

  28. Country's going down the freaking toilet and people are wondering if the nothing bus tour was staged.

We are a sad people. The right is more concerned with its irrational hatred of Obummer (just another corporate stooge) than it is about getting to the root of our problems.

    ReplyDelete
  29. And along come Ducky and Soapy to explain to us how nothing Obama does matters.

Do they have these comments saved somewhere to cut and paste onto the blogs?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ducky, in that case why don't you go to another sight where some changes for the good can be made? Why waste your time here?

Anyways, I hope this story is just a hoax but highly doubt it. For one, it fits Obama so well, for another, what motive would anyone have for spreading a lie? Thats the presses job. Us conservative don't need to stoop to that level.

If its true, then Obama is a massive hyprocrit (not to mention liar). If anyone outside of these sights would care is the question.

  31. I hope it's not true. After spending taxpayer dollars on the buses, he'd better be traveling in them. On the other hand, if he didn't find them luxurious enough and elected to travel by some other means, that wouldn't be too far fetched either.

  32. Wildstar,

Frankly, I'd love for the story to be a hoax because I hate the very idea that we have a President who would run a scam such as a fake bus-tour.

  35. Actually, AOW, the correct quotation is, "Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall".

A minor point, and I will return later to address the bigger issue, but don't have time right now.

  37. Although I posted this same story, I have serious doubts about the presented 'facts' and the source. LiveLeak. is not a news organ and the writer, MysteryKeeper, is just a guy who lives in Orange, CA.

Human Events and blogger Coldwarrior do a good job presenting countervailing 'facts' that seem to be more in line with what my lying eyes can plainly see:

"First, just take a look at the route. It was relatively short (about 380 miles with a total drive time of under 7 hours from Cannon Falls to Alpha, IL) and the confirmed stops along the way were in some cases only 22 or so miles from each other and, it appears, the furthest distance between two stops was about 59 miles (Decorah, IA to Guttenberg, IA). I plotted on Google Maps the cities he went through, in this order: Cannon Falls, Zumbrota, Chatfield and Harmony, MN; Decorah, Guttenberg, Peosta, Maquoketa and Le Claire, IA; and Morrison, Atkinson, Galesburg, Alpha and Peoria, IL."

Is it really any crazier than other things this POTUS has done?

  39. Freedombytheway has a good point. Had it not been for the buying of a $32,000 ring for Michelle within weeks of taking office, the expensive date nights to Chicago and New York, the Wednesday night parties, Michelle's vacation to Spain with an incidental meeting with Juan Carlos to make it an official diplomatic mission, the $10mil African safari with the attendant photo-op handshaking with a head of state or two, the pizza night at the WH that required flying in Kansas City pizza maker, the dining on lobster and big hamburgers with fries and milkshakes, the ice cream jaunts all the while telling the little people to eat our peas this story would not have been so immediately believable.

The Obama's are as disconnected from humanity and realty as is my cousin who resides in a California state hospital prison for the criminally insane. The difference between my cousin and the Obamas is that he voluntarily put himself there because he knows he's a danger to everyone else. The Obamas truly believe they are helping and their compassion is killing us. The Obamas are Lenny.

Yes but is it irrational? From the beginning it looked like he would be just another Democratic Leadership Council cronies running a game and he has proven that in spades ( more of an economic right winger than Bush).

Now that's a little different than the birther movement, calling him a Muslim, claiming he's a commie etc.
I don't say those are your beliefs but they certainly are prevalent among the right and your posters.

Constant rants about his friendship with Bill Ayers. Now Ayers is involved in education and Obama appoints Mr. Charter Schools and standardized testing maven Arnie Duncan as Sect. of Education. How do you square that?

Jeremiah Wright? Do you think Obama has any spiritual beliefs other than his rise to power? Does the right believe Wright was anything more than a temporary prop for his image on the South Side?

No, the right has been completely irrational and their extremism has strengthened this guy. Also moved him further right.

  42. It wouldn't surprise me in the least, liberals are more about show and spin than any real substance.

As far as they're concerned you all are lucky they take the time to tell you how to live.

  43. OK, I'm back. It seems to me there are logistic problems with this theory.

If Obama's bus and Obama himself were jetted to the different towns along the bus route, where would they land and take off? Those size airplanes require a lengthy runway and most towns that are not are metropolis's don't have that big an airport.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the first and last stops were flown into and out of, respectively, but all the stops in between? He did seem to get all the way from DC to Iowa and then to Martha's Vineyard quickly, didn't he? It takes longer than that to travel all those miles in a bus, you know.

No, we don't have to invent Obama outrages. He's perfectly capable of manufacturing them on his own.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Duck,
You've been in the blogosphere long enough to know that there is plenty of squawking emanating from both the Right and the Left, particularly in the days before and during the primary season -- as well as in the first several months after an election. And those time frames are the minimum.

Remember all the Left blogosphere squawking about GWB. How did you yourself refer to him? And let's see, you referred to Condoleeza Rice as "Jemima Rice," didn't you?

In my view, there is plenty of "extremism" to go around.

    Also moved him further right

And you're blaming the Right for Obama's position on the political spectrum?

Historical fact: Presidents often move away from the spectrum position they held before taking office. Thomas Jefferson is but one example of that move. I mention Jefferson because he is one of the most glaring examples: in spite of his previous position about limiting executive power, he surely did use that power freely while in office, particularly with the Louisiana Purchase.

Idealism does typically give way to real politic.

I don't say those are your beliefs but they certainly are prevalent among the right and your posters.

I'm certainly very much to the Right on certain issues, more centrist on others. I do catch a lot of flak about my position on health insurance, and I held that position long before this household got slammed by rising health-insurance rates and Mr. AOW's losing his job in early 2008; he lost that job primarily because the company found it more financially feasible to hire people who opted out of health-insurance coverage (employer based). And I'm certainly not far Right when it comes to matters of race and ethnicity. You and I have covered that ground many, many times. The subject is a painful one for me as it caused such a rift in my family.

But when it comes down to the Nanny State and the ever-burgeoning government bureaucracy, yes, I'm on the Right side of the spectrum.

Do you think Obama has any spiritual beliefs other than his rise to power?

Not sure about that one. I find the issue of Obama's spiritual beliefs one of contradictions. Overall, I would classify Obama as a demagogue.

Good point. I had assumed that he flew to Iowa and to Martha's Vineyard. Did the bus tour promote itself as rolling out of DC and into Martha's Vineyard? I'll have to look that up.

I told my hubby before this debacle too place that Obama would never travel around in a bus, he thinks of himself as too good for that.
