From this article in the Washington Post:
He was a 15-year-old high school honors student in Ellicott City when federal prosecutors say he went online to solicit money for a woman who called herself “Jihad Jane” and “Fatima LaRose.”The student arrested is from Pakistan and had been educated in schools here in the United States. He turns eighteen next month and may then be charged as an adult. More information HERE.
Authorities say that in Web postings two years ago, the youth “appealed for urgent funds” for the suspected terrorist, whose real name is Colleen R. LaRose, 47, of Philadelphia. “I know the sister and by Allah, all money will be transferred to her.”
The FBI arrested the youth, who is now 17, about a month ago and is detaining him in Pennsylvania on terrorism-related charges, according to law enforcement sources and a published newspaper account. He had been accepted to attend Johns Hopkins University this fall on a full scholarship. A school spokesman said he has withdrawn.
It is unclear whether the Howard County teenager collected any money for LaRose, who faces life in prison when sentenced. She pleaded guilty in February to providing material support to terrorists, including a plot to kill a Swedish cartoonist who had offended Muslims by drawing the prophet Muhammad’s head on the body of a dog.
All records and files pertaining to the teen’s arrest have been sealed in U.S. District Court....
[...]
The teen graduated from Mount Hebron High School this year. His name repeatedly shows up on the honor roll. Last year, he received an honorable mention in a prose writing contest sponsored by the CityLit Project....
This honors student may also have been involved in a Columbine-style plot.

ReplyDeleteImagine the schools disappointment. They could have had a real live jihadist.
Sounds like another little bastard to get off the street IMHO
I don't understand how someone grows up here and then turns on us.
ReplyDeleteBoth of them should be executed for treason.
Silverfiddle, agreed!
ReplyDeleteThis is yet another example of the Islamist that doesn't fit the MSM's template; he was not poor, not without opportunity, not undereducated.
So I take it you still have power?
ReplyDeleteBrooke,
ReplyDeleteThe power flickered briefly around 2:00 A.M., and we lost satellite TV for a while. The winds continued to blow briskly until around noon. That's it.
Silverfiddle,
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how someone grows up here and then turns on us.
I wonder which mosque the Maryland teenager attended. That might help to explain why he turned out the way he did.
Or maybe he attended Saturday "jihad" school.
Interesting that the parents fully cooperated with the investigation.
We know about him because of the Jawa Report, those guys/gals do such great work and a service to this country. Who knows how many more like him are out there?

That wasn't anonymous. That was me. Must have hit a key the log-in didn't like.
ReplyDeleteI am so tired of this AOW...where has our Nation gone?...hope your'e safe there!
ReplyDeleteBrooke said...
ReplyDeleteSo I take it you still have power?"
I just had to share that I wasn't thinking about the hurricane and when I saw Brooke's question above, I thought "Wow, AOW..what kind of power were you losing!?" I had all sorts of weird thoughts...!! I mean, AOW IS powerful, but... :-)
As far as this guy: Treason and execution. Of them both, as said above. But, we don't have the guts; My GOSH, if we actually DID these things, we might actually have less people willing to SCREW OUR COUNTRY, huh?
This just disgusts me as usual. I'd just bet there are many more just like that, and in high places too!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with "Black Sheep" about allowing Muslims to enter the country. Why? It's virtually impossible to vet Muslims to separate the benign from the malignant. Why make the problem harder for ourselves? Ten years after 9/11 and we still haven't closed our doors.
ReplyDeleteIn NYC there was a major surveillance effort to watch Muslims during the last 10 years that stopped seven attacks as described here. NYPD Deputy Commissioner Browne says "We commit over a thousand officers to the fight every day to stop terrorists who've demonstrated an undiminished appetite to come back and kill more New Yorkers." I have a less costly method ... just don't let them in.

Smart but still stupid! There are plenty out there that are stupid even with a degree. I see it all the time.
ReplyDeleteZ,
ReplyDeleteI thought "Wow, AOW..what kind of power were you losing!?"
LOL!
I'm not Bruce Almighty, though. Hehehe.
WHT,
ReplyDeleteAlthough we had no real damage from the hurricane to this property, I do have the arduous task of putting heavy items back into place. I got some of that work done yesterday, but have more to do today.
One interesting effect from the hurricane: my Internet access isn't completely consistent right now. Storm damage somewhere along the line, I think.
Black Sheep & Jason,
ReplyDeleteFor whatever reason, the prevailing idea among our leaders and many Americans, for that matter: "American Muslims are different."
I know that I, too, have a difficult time understanding why people who come here to enjoy our freedoms would turn on us.
Sure, some Muslims do assimilate. But I personally knew and was good friends with one such Muslim (brew up here and married to a Roman Catholic) who then became "revived" when he resumed attending mosque regularly after his son was born. I couldn't believe my ears and eyes! This was before 9/11, and I wasn't as knowledgeable then, so I couldn't figure out what had happened -- why this fellow was spewing hatred of our President, who "had an affair with that Jewess." There was more to what he said that day, but you get the idea.
Jason has rightly pointed out how costly all these security measures are.
ReplyDeleteI believe that OBL once boasted that he had bankrupted the United States in one day -- that one day being 9/11.
In the process, we have surrendered many freedoms. I hate flying now, and that's only one example of the intrusion in our lives. I also have to put up with searches at the museums that I like to frequent. Every time I go through that kind of security, I think sarcastically, "Thank you, Muslims, for all the joy you have brought into my life."
And here's another thing....Many young people today have zero idea of what life in the United States was like before 9/11. All the security measures and inconveniences are the norm for these young people. **sigh**
Black Sheep,
ReplyDeleteThis guy had the world at his feet at a very young age and threw it away because he'd been so thoroughly brainwashed by the so-called "religion of peace".
Yep.
He grew up in a very diverse community, too. Google search the name of the high school he attended.
Jackie,
ReplyDeleteI do tire of posting gloom and doom so much of the time.
In a few weeks, I'll be taking a blog break. School will be starting, and I can handle only so much stress.
Interesting essay by Citizen Warrior: "How Should We Treat the Muslims in Our Midst?"
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, we have THIS from the underwear bomber. Excerpt:
ReplyDeleteThe Muslim underwear bomber charged with trying to blow up a Detroit-bound airliner is arguing for his prison release, claiming wrongful imprisonment by the American government. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, 24, asked the court to release him from prison, arguing that “all Muslims should only be ruled by the law of the Quran.”
More at the above link.
That's one, how many more are left?
ReplyDeleteMatt,
ReplyDeleteWho would know? **sigh**
