Last Night's Debate

(Two posts day.  Please scroll down)

Video from NewsBusters below the fold:

According to NewsBusters:
During his special post-debate Hardball, Chris Matthews's panelists -- with the exception of Republican Michael Steele -- praised moderator Bob Schieffer’s ability to get Romney “to be quiet.” Apparently it’s the job of the moderator to keep the Republican docile during debates in the minds of liberals.

Matthews also liked the format of Monday's debate because it denied Romney from being exhibiting [sic] "flagrant disrespect" towards President Obama.

  4. Romney did what he needed to do. His closing was excellent and he didn't hurt himself by being overly aggressive during the debate. Obama was very agressive and I think with womne voters, Romney will continue to close the gap.

  5. We all know who and what these filthy animals are, so why provide more of a showcase for their obscene antics?

If I had my way, Chris Matthews -- and everyone else who constantly OUTSHOUTS and INTERRUPTS others in order to keep them from getting their message out -- would be put in a PADDED CELL and banned from participation in panel "discussions" on TV.

Democrats do RUDE better than anyone else on earth.

  6. Since the 'horses and bayonets' line was so totally inaccurate, it could have only been the brainchild of Joe "Wanna Watch Me Stick A Squirrel Down My Pants?!" Biden.

  7. Maybe Obama might want to take a briefing on china and the massive buildup of their navy. Just saying.

  8. I'm so glad they clarified what the moderators job is, I had no idea, ha

  9. I thought the same thing about the mod; every time Romney started to make a point he was rudely interrupted. If not by Obama, then Bob took over and carried the water for Obama!

For the life of me, I don't know why GOP candidates don't insist on a mod that isn't cherry-picked by leftist media outlets!

Romney gave Obama enough rope to hang himself with. The latter was petulant, angry, and looked as if Biden had coached him prior to the debate.

I'm not at all shocked by Tingle's panel. The more apoplectic and frantic they act, the more they show who the REAL winner was.

  11. I missed the first few minutes, and really wanted Romney to hit hard, especially about Benghazi, and really didn't touch too much on that.

It was weak, however, watching Obama's facial expressions was sort of worth it. He was giving some pretty nasty to looks.

In what way was it inaccurate?

What was a real hoot was Mittens not realizing that a single Ohio class submarine has as much fire power as the 1914 U.S. Navy.
The analogy was dumb even for a Republican.

  13. Going into the debate, everybody knew, and as the pundits had been saying, that the last debate would not mean anything unless a participant really screwed up. So, Romney went in with a prevent attitude, and still wound up being the adult in the room.

Obama was like one of those little annoying chihuahua, constantly yapping about nothing. He looked comical.

  15. I have to say that Joe “Watch me stick a squirrel down my pants” Biden has nothing over the nincompoop Ducky. Both have a tendency to shoot off their mouth before thinking through an issue, but at least we can say that Biden made a stab at serving his country, even if he did it as a clown.

Now at any time there are about the same number of ships as admirals serving on active duty, there are only two possibilities: your navy is too small, or you have far too many admirals. With only 218 commissioned ships, it is nearly impossible for the US Navy to protect US interests across five oceans and the littoral regions of the world’s continents. Romney has it right; Obama has his head up Ducky’s rectum.

  16. @ Duck**** -- see the following as to why I think the 'horses and bayonets' comment was/is inaccurate: http://dailycaller.com/2011/10/14/secret-mission-the-horse-soldiers-of-911/

Also see the graphic at: http://socialsense2.blogspot.com/ I believe that's what that sticky-outty-thingy is called -- a 'bayonet' -- on the end of the rifle that is STILL IN USE TODAY. We (at least in the Marine Corps) ARE STILL ISSUED THEM and we are expected to know HOW to USE THEM.

I have a question for you, Duck****. Why do you suppose China is building up such a LARGE fleet of warships while the U.S. armada is perfectly fine at the size it is... or, even to DOWNSIZE?

Just MORE smart-ass remarks by YOUR Dear Leader and EXACTLY what I would expect from someone that's never fought anything other than a roll of toilet paper.

  18. Ducky: "What was a real hoot was Mittens not realizing that a single Ohio class submarine has as much fire power as the 1914 U.S. Navy."

It actually has far more than that by several orders of magnitude, but you might want to think carefully before advancing that as a comparison. That advantage in firepower comes from nuclear weapons atop ballistic missiles. Would you seriously recommend resorting to them in our next conflict?

  19. Ron,
Tingles may well have a breakdown on the air if Obama loses.

At the least, Tingles will go off the deep end with an amusing rant.

  20. Brooke,
The word petulant exactly describes Obama's facial expressions during the final debate!

Looking petulant is not Presidential. But the Left loves that pouty look on their candidate.

Way back when, I recall how disgusted I was with GWB's smirks; many, including myself, criticized GWB's smirks.

Of course, Obama's smirks -- he did a lot of smirking during the debate on Monday night -- endear him even more to his supporters. Go figure.

  21. From the Yahoo! News editorial entitled "Why Romney was so meek":

...By not contesting Obama on points, and by agreeing with his policies on drone strikes, on Iraq, on China, on Iraq, and on Afghanistan, Romney was betting that he did not need to take risks, and stands a better shot at winning the election the more people associate him with the economy.

    [...]

...For Romney, Obama's biggest weakness now is that voters don't think he has a good enough agenda for the next four years. That's why Romney twice trotted out a new line: "Attacking me is not an agenda."...

Are American voters in 2012 capable of voting for a man that doesn't act like a demagogue and scream and smirk? I guess that we're going to find out the answer to that question on November 6.

  22. Check out this new 30-second Romney ad entitled "Apology Tour." The ad uses some of Romney's statements from the last Presidential debate. Effective?

Democrats do RUDE better than anyone else on earth.

    Ain't THAT the truth?

The greater problem: such rudeness intimidates a lot of people. It shouldn't, but Americans have become so wimpy. Sheesh.
