  1. Here's what I said over there...

This is inevitable. As we bleed out money, selling nothing, buying everything, the people who sell to us (China) end up with a huge cash balance. Money in and of itself has no value until you do something with it, and when you're sitting on a pile that high, you're going to go buy stuff.

So we are getting poorer, going deeper in debt and continuing to borrow, while China buys up the world's assets. Your government at work (and it didn't start with Obama. Our naive China policy goes back to Bush Sr.)

  3. Thanks for the link. We can have all the oil in the world, and if we are not able to refine it, gives us Zero oil. We have not had one new refinery in over 25 years. With the new regs, the rest will be hard pressed to continue.

  4. China is merely acting in its own best interest. They have tonnes of US dollars that are losing value so their best option is to spend those dollars rapidly for something they believe will hold value. It is the US government that does not appear to be acting in its own best interest. When it comes to strategic resources ad, I can not think of anything more strategic to the US than energy, there should be very tight controls on who is allowed to own those strategic resources.

You mean Richard Nixon, don't ya?

  6. I'm surprised at Texas. But what can we expect, we have major US businesses investing there as well as other countries, and the blame goes to the Liberals.

Not quite. Your finance industry at work.

Goes back to St. Ronnie Raygun (a wholly owned subsidiary).

Gee and who does that benefit, bunkerville?

Haven't you guys copped wise to the grift yet?

  9. Duck for brains,
I keep seeing you bring up Ronnie Raygun. If you are going to try and mock the man, you really need to come up with something better. You see, everyone here likes guns, and I'm pretty sure we would all love to own a ray gun.

Tonight when your mom is playing D&D with you in the basement, ask her for some ideas and get back to us.

  10. Tristan, right not take a sniff off your heroes rotted brain tissue. The stuff you keep in that little shrine near your toilet.

Get good and high and report back.

  11. Dearest Comrade,
Was that supposed to be a coherent response? This is why I told you to talk with your mom before you get back to us.

  15. By way of explanation as to my absence yesterday, the following is a comment I left at another thread and should leave here as well....

I was offline most of yesterday: doctors' appointments (2!) for Mr. AOW (hoping not to get bad news about those scans of his carotids), then off to Walgreen's to get flu shots -- and for me to get my first pneumonia shot (student with compromised immune system in my class). The afternoon, evening, and night brought us terrible t'storms and tornado warnings in the area. I dared not turn on my computer and was stressing out over how to get Mr. AOW into a safe part of the house!

I hate getting those shots I just mentioned because my arms get so sore and I drag around for at least two days.

Last night, something brought that statement home to me: one of my former students from several years ago was offered a job in Beijing. The job pays much, much more than any other job he has been offered. Furthermore, although he does have a job right now, he has been wanting to change jobs. He can't find any employment to equal the pay from the job he has not -- except in China. He hasn't made a decision yet as to whether or not to accept the offer in Beijing.

    LOL!

Many times, I've thought about typing in a comment about "ray gun," but never got around to it.

You mean Richard Nixon, don't ya?

    A point well taken.

Most people seem to have forgotten about Nixon's "love" for China.
