Happy Labor Day 2011!

Or not.

With a hat tip to Brooke:

  1. I'm working today...and tomorrow!

Stole the video and the pic and posted them on Facebook for the edification of all my Conservative friends and the annoyance of all my Liberal friends.

BTW, if you go to Youtube and read the comments on the video, one commenter says the singing is lousy...but that's what Johnny Cash sounded like, in my opinion. My Dad used to say Johnny Cash was the second worst singer in the world... second only to Slim Whitman.

  2. That Labor Day Cancelled is awesome!

I think the GOP (in the vein of liberals during the social security argument) should continue to ask why Obama and the democrats hate working people and want to take their jobs away.

  3. For a minute, I thought Labor Day under the Obama Admin was going to be 364 days of "labor days" and "government motors" and one day memorial to "capitalism".

  6. Wow! The feel-good news for this Labor Day 2011:

Obama, Democrats Losing Labor Union Support

In the Huffington Post, to boot.

  7. Howdy! Great post.

I never could figure out why no one works on "Labor" Day, why people drive in parkways and park in driveways.

  8. America! The labor of love for the working ants!

    Enjoy tomorrow AOW!

  9. Here's the crux of the stinking GOP:

Missouri prepares to end tax credit for elderly and disabled

  10. Bd, you are brain dead for sure. The Governor is a Democrat and supports the plan. DUH, so much for your BS rant on the GOP.

Even a representative of the Missouri AFL-CIO supports the plan which again just shows your sheer stupidity Bd.

House Speaker Steve Tilley, R-Perryville, already is indicating that he may press for changes when the Senate bill gets to his chamber.

It pays to read Bd rather than show your total stupidity as you usually do.

  11. Now as for Labor Day. It will be raining here in the State of Georgia so my plans for lounging by the pool while others fired up the grill seem to have been put on hold. However I will take the rain, we certainly need it.

  12. Outstanding, AOW! You have to wonder how "the people" are enjoying their new People's Republic of the USA?

  13. Good job, Ticker.

Bd left the same brain droppings over at my blog and I gave him pretty much the same answer.

He is a good example of how liberals do not think, they emote.

  14. Ticker...Bravo! I can't imagine how much these peoples' heads swirl when confronted with the truth :-)

The Conservatives here are working today and happy to be doing so; I'd like to hear from the Liberals, who'd probably be bitching they finally got a job but they got screwed because they have to work on a holiday.

It's the GOP led, Legislature doing this and the Governor does not support it. He says he will support the change if an equivalent amount of money is used to create a fund earmarked for senior citizen programs.

    Nice try, liar.

  16. REPORT: The American Middle Class Was Built By Unions And It Will Decline Without Them

Labor Day was first celebrated in
the late 1880′s as labor activists from the American Federation of Labor (which later formed part of the basis for the AFL-CIO) and other unionsrallied around a day to celebrate organized labor and to take a day off.

In 1887 Oregon started a formal “Labor Day” and by 1897 President Glover Cleveland made it a federal holiday, reacting to pressure from unions following the contentious Pullman Strike.

And yet, despite the many benefits unions have provided the United States,right-wing politicians and business interests have for years sought toundermine the ability of Americans to organize to demand better pay, benefits, and conditions. From the anti-worker Taft-Hartley Act to the recent GOP-led efforts to kill public worker collective bargaining
rights, these assaults have successfully decreased union membership over time. In the prosperous 1950′s, nearly one in three Americans was in a
union. Today, it is closer to one in ten.

    This has had a
deterimental effect on the American middle class. As the following chart
from CAP’s David Madland and Karla Waters demonstrates, as union
membership fell from the 1970′s to the present, the middle class’s share of national income fell as well:

  17. That image is brilliant!

If Obama's policies go unchanged, there will be even less jobs to go around. I wish it wasn't true, but we all know that it is.

  18. A guy walked into the local welfare office to pick up his check.
He marched straight up to the counter and said, “Hi... You know, I just HATE drawing welfare. I’d really rather have a job.”

The welfare clerk behind the counter said, “Your timing is excellent. We just got a job opening from a very wealthy old man who wants a Chauffeur and bodyguard for his beautiful daughter. You’ll have to drive around in his 2011 Mercedes-Benz CL, and he will supply all of your clothes.

“Because of the long hours, meals will be provided. You’ll also be expected to escort the daughter on her overseas holiday trips. This is rather awkward to say but you will also have as part of your job assignment to satisfy her sexual urges as the daughter is in her mid-20’s and has a rather strong sex drive.”

The guy, just plain wide-eyed, said, “You’re BS'n me!”

The welfare clerk said, “Yeah, well ... You started it.”

  20. Go quick to msnbc and learn more :-)

How about "you can have your own home, NO DOWN PAYMENT, you'll be FINE"!

    How about "SHOVEL READY..." ?
Even I supported getting people working on huge projects we can use like roads and bridges...instead, there are signs near pot holes saying the pouring of tar into the hole is part of the stimulus package.

How about "YOu can keep your health insurance!" ? that's the very 'best' of the lies

How about the LIE in the implication that "government jobs are self sustaining?" a 4th grader knows that's a lie

How about the LIE that they'll take care of our borders as they SUE ARIZONA for doing what they finally won't do?

...too many for a comment's space... gad

I'll check out what you said about viruses.

I turned off word verification because the characters are hard to read -- particularly for commenter FreeThinke, who has vision problems.
