I saw that. The federal government cannot responsibly carry out its traditional duties, yet it ranges far and wide looking for new opportunities to screw things up.
And now Obama is blaming the character of the American people for the failures of government. The video at the above link is astounding! Could he possibly stammer more in the short space of 30 seconds? Sheesh.
There's nothing in the Constitution that says you have this right.
Yeah, it's a ridiculous ruling but the fringe right uses this reasoning quite often.
I wonder why this suit was brought. My guess is that a ruling for defendant would hurt the milk producers so you have an industry shill ruling just as you do with Roberts and Alito, fringe right heroes.
Duck, Check the Constitution again. Not every right is enumerated.
If one doesn't have the right to consume the milk from one's own cow, then I could list numerous other rights you don't have -- according to your reasoning.
The US Constitution is one of negative rights that restricts what the government can do. It also lists 16 duties of the government, the enumeration clause. Anything NOT listed or written therein is reserved to the people and the states.
To look for specific rights in the Constitution that we the people have is a fools errand; they aren't there. We have the right because it's NOT listed; we have the right because we were born with the right by simply being human, by grace of God, a gift from Divine Providence, or whatever your preferred flavor; it's my right to possess not the government's to grant.
And just to make sure we little people didn't misunderstand the court's decision, NY Mayor Bloomberg told the UN last week, “There are powers only governments can exercise, policies only governments can mandate and enforce and results only governments can achieve. To halt the worldwide epidemic of non-communicable diseases, governments at all levels must make healthy solutions the default social option. That is ultimately government’s highest duty.”
Earlier in his address Bloomberg lauded the past dietary efforts of NYC, “In 2009 we enacted the first restriction on cholesterol-free artificial trans fat in the city’s food service establishments. Our licensing of street green card producer/vendors has greatly increased the availability of fresh fruits and vegetables in neighborhoods with high rates of diet related diseases. And we’ve led a national salt reduction initiative and engaged 28 food manufacturers, supermarkets and restaurant chains to voluntarily commit to reducing excessive amounts of sodium in their products.”
You cant even open a lemonade stand or bake a cake for charity.
I would like to see these examples that Ducky is referring too. If they violate the Constitution I will agree with Duck.
In general I agree with Duck on this theory as yes many so called moderate Republicans or RHINOS have lead us in the same direction as the COmmunists aka Democrats.
However, as usual there is no example cited just a vague theory and several of us let that stand as truth sort of like the global warming haox.

Very slippery slope there in your comment.
I f America has gotten soft as Obama says it is precisely because of the nanny socialist programs that he endorses.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Hat Tip. yes, now the issue is us, no longer the fat cats. We are indeed soft to ever have elected him.
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with the facts of this case, but doesn't this right fall somewhere under "property"?
