  1. Breaking news this morning...

French teacher attacked by man claiming ISIS link:

PARIS, Dec 14 (Reuters) - A hooded man claiming to be acting for Islamic State attacked a nursery school teacher with a knife-like weapon as he prepared for classes in a school north of Paris, French officials said on Monday.

The male teacher was taken to hospital after the attack by a man wielding a knife or box-cutter who fled the scene after the attack at about 0630 GMT, said the official, adding that anti-terrorism officials were investigating.

    [...]

According to one judiciary official, the assailant slashed at the teacher's neck and said the act was a signal from the Islamic State group, also referred to in France by the name Daesh....

"The attacker reportedly arrived wearing a balaclava and gloves but was unarmed and used weapons he found in the classroom."

      Hardly on organized attack.
Not that an attack by a disturbed person is trivial but this seems a random one off.

Hmmm. I've driven by Focus many times over the years and I don't recall ever seeing severed heads on pike poles out front, I have never heard Dobson calling for non-Christians to be raped and killed, and I have never heard of Christian terrorists pledging fealty to Focus on the Family.

    10. Ducky,

Here is another view of what Colorado Springs is like, from our liberal paper, the Independent (which many cons read).

It is about Richard Scorman, a far left business owner and former councilman. Here is the paragraph about one of the times Phredd Phlapps and his "church" of hatred came to the Springs:

This time, members of Focus on the Family came to Poor Richard's to stand with Skorman (and beside tattooed young people and gays and lesbians), in opposition to Phelps. Skorman's conservative colleagues also showed up to support him, including then-Mayor Lionel Rivera. It was a moment of unity for Skorman, who had often found himself on the losing end of 8-1 votes on Council.

That is the Colorado Springs I know.

    11. AOW... I wasn't snarling at all... just pointing out that when you were asked for proof that the Planned parenthood bomber was mentally ill, a statement you made, as you said, based on looks, you provided none of the links you ask of Ducky.

It's your blog, but it does seem rather odd that you would expect from Ducky, literally the same thing you refused, or were unable to provide.

Given that the very nature of my question, how could it have been presented in a way so as to not offend you?

Silver, I wasn't questioning the sanity of any of the attackers, just the seeming double standard related to links and proof.

As for a link, the exact church might be a stretch to find. But I've been around the bend enough times theologically to be able to sketch a pretty good road map from Abortion is against the will of God, and therefore of the devil, to understand how someone could conclude their calling in life was to kill the devil and his helpers.

I've seen it, lived it, picked up the pieces and seen the destruction. Both here and in churches across Mexico.

    13. Dave,

Fair enough, but we just never hear of Christian churches or preachers (outside of Phredd Phlapps) preaching hatred and murder. There are examples of imams and Mosques that do. I am not damning all Muslims, just pointing up a false equivalency peddled by some.

I'm curious that he wants only four removed and not virtually the entire Renaissance collection.
And why not remove paintings of Mary since they certainly offend black women? The disciples?

He must have only viewed one of the Renaissance galleries before bolting the Museum in his utter pain and despair.

He was interviewed on Black Talk Radio but the segment isn't archived. The idea of cultural theft is taken seriously.

It's a trite phrase, but archeologists and other scientific types have described the people of that area and that time as having swarthy skin and coarse black hair.

My point is, they were not Africans, so I don't even understand where that crazy man with the lawsuit is coming from.

Of course all depictions of Jesus are speculative. But we DO know tha that entries of Judah was not African.

Some of my black friends have Nativity Scenes with a black baby in the manger. Doesn't bother me at all although I don't believe that hat rendition is accurate.

BTW, these black families have black Santas, too. So what?

    2. AOW,

I put it all in the "so what" category as well. A blue-eyed renaissance Jesus is no more accurate or valid than a black Jesus, and it doesn't matter anyway. Jesus came to save us all, regardless of what we look like or where we come from.

    1. I was citing breaking news -- from Reuters, not a counter jihad site. I made no assertions as to possible motive.

    2. Considering what recently happened in Paris -- a jihad massacre -- it is not unreasonable to think that another attack had occurred, even at a nursery school.

    3. That guy who shot up Planned Parenthood looked whacko and lived in isolation.

    4. Duck typically rushes in to say that something couldn't possibly be a jihad attack. In fact, on 9/11, he refused to admit for 2-3 days that the 9/11 attacks could be jihad attacks.

    5. As a matter of civil discourse right here on my own property, you should have phrased your statement as a question -- without snidely saying, "Nice AOW." Use some tact.

      Wrong.

A rumor that was kept alive by your buddy Beak who is not known for his grounding in reality.

I do see these attacks as acts of mentally ill individuals driven by inflammatory rhetoric, true.

The attack reported on Monday by the teacher set off a manhunt in the northern Paris suburb of Aubervilliers, but he later admitted under questioning from prosecutors that the story had been a lie.

Both the Paris prosecutor’s office and the local prosecutor said the teacher was still being questioned on Monday afternoon over why he made up the story of the attack.

The 45-year old teacher at Jean Perrin nursery school had earlier claimed that a man in overalls and a balaclava had arrived while he was preparing his class on Monday, grabbed a box cutter and scissors that were in the room, and attacked him.

  14. From The Hidden Reasons Why Americans Dislike Islam:

...I wonder if the media is missing a powerful, largely-uncovered influence on America’s hearts and minds — the experience and testimony of the more than two million Americans who’ve served overseas since 9/11 and have experienced Islamic cultures up-close.

Yes, they were in the middle of a war — but speaking from my own experience — the war was conducted from within a culture that was shockingly broken. I expected the jihadists to be evil, but even I couldn’t fathom the depths of their depravity. And it was all occurring against the backdrop of a brutally violent and intolerant culture. Women were beaten almost as an afterthought, there was a near-total lack of empathy for even friends and neighbors, lying was endemic, and sexual abuse was rampant. Even more disturbingly, it seemed that every problem was exacerbated the more religious and pious a person (or village) became.

I spent enough time outside the wire and interacting with tribal leaders to get a sense of the reality around me, but the younger guys on the line spent weeks at a time living in the heart of the local community. I remember one young soldier, after describing the things he’d seen since the start of the deployment, gestured towards the village around us and said — in perfect Army English — “Sir, this s**t is f**ked up.”...
