Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is an apt symbol for the ideas of the contemporary left: Young, hip, and attractive in a bug-eyed, kooky sort of way. Appealing, until you get closer and realize its a 100-year-old fluff-filled nutlog in a new wrapper.

She burnished that image by rejecting Ben Shapiro's debate challenge as a threatening cat call. You can't blame her for running away. She can't even rationally present her propaganda in friendly, non-challenging forums.

I observed the other day in a discussion thread here that the left is confident now is the time to stick the knives in and take over. We are weakened and staggering under the weight of generations of post-modern deconstructionism, tribalism, victimology and white guilt.

Caitlin Flanagan, writing in The Atlantic, believes just the opposite:

Westminster crash outside Parliament treated as terror attack after car hits cyclists and ploughs into barriers

A man has been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences after a car crashed into security barriers outside the Houses of Parliament at high speed.

At least three people were injured when the silver Ford Fiesta hit a group of cyclists and pedestrians waiting for traffic lights to change. Witnesses said the car mounted the pavement on the wrong side of the road at up to 50mph and travelled around 40 metres (130ft) before hitting a bollard.

Westminster was in lockdown as armed police swarmed the scene on Tuesday morning. Witnesses said they thought "it looked intentional - the car drove at speed and towards the barriers".

Scotland Yard said a man in his 20s was arrested after the incident at around 7.30am. He was taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody on suspicion of terrorist offences.

Police said the crash is being treated as a "terrorist incident" and the Met's counter-terrorism command is leading the investigation....

Finally! 

Some good lab numbers from a physical!

 For the first time in over two years, my GFR, a value indicating the kidneys' filtration rate, is approaching normal. Click directly on the graphic below to enlarge it:

I've been feeling so much better, and the numbers here show why.

This round of health hell, which began in September 2016, is over — at long last. So grateful for my wonderful urologist and surgeon, who turned around my terrible numbers so that I could avoid dialysis.  The November 2016 surgery to remediate hydronephrosis was a resounding success!

Nature Abhors a Vacuum

Demographics is destiny.  You can go Yahoogle birth rates by nation and see who is growing and who is dying.

Another useful way of looking a global demographics is by the median age of each nation.

The Global Median Age is 30.1 as of 2016 estimates. The darker parts of the map are older: Europe, North America, Japan...  and the younger nations are in green and yellow.

The median age of the Palestinian Territories is 19, and almost all African nations are lower than that.

The median age of Germany--a very old country--is 47, with the rest of Europe all in their 40's. The US stands at 38, thanks to all the children arriving here, since our native-born birth rate is not much better than Olde Europe.

This explains the epochal global migration we are living through. Nature abhors a vacuum.

What do we do about it?

About Impressionism in music:

What "Comrade In Distress" Looks Like

Because a stroke on September 15, 2009, deprived Mr. AOW of the ability to walk any more than a few steps, we have wheelchair ramps at our house: one from the street to the front door and one from the aforementioned ramp to the Little House (Mr. AOW's man cave since 1982).

We paid not a single dime for these two ramps because Mr. AOW's fellow veterans from the VFW and the American Legion built those ramps according to the guidelines of Comrade in Distress.

Recently, we needed another kind of ramp built so as to access The Red Shed, our big tool shed, which has always needed a ramp so that tool boxes and lawn equipment could be moved from therein. The original ramp, the one that Mr. AOW himself built in 1978, caved in years ago, so I had it replaced about eight years ago. The quality of wood used in that first replacement ramp was poor; as a result, it rotted out and became not only usable but also hazardous — a matter brought to my attention a few weeks ago when our realtor wanted to enter the Red Shed. His foot went right through that rickety ramp!

So, Mr. AOW called his Comrade in Arms Mike S., who came over as soon as the spring monsoons ended.  Mike is a Vietnam War Era veteran.  In other words, not a young man.

The Race Card. Again.

Protesters demonstrate outside a Starbucks in Philadelphia on Sunday, several days after police arrested two black men who were waiting inside the Center City coffee shop.

I hardly ever go to Starbucks — except for rarely-held meetings with clients, that is. So, the closing of Starbucks for one afternoon won't put me in danger of caffeine withdrawal. My special-brew mix for coffee is better than Starbucks brews, anyway! **smile**

Nonetheless, I find this beyond stupid: Starbucks to close all company-owned stores on the afternoon of May 29 for racial-bias education day.

A public relations ploy?

Political correctness on steroids?

White guilt?

Many a time, I've been prevented from using the restroom in a business establishment because I wasn't at the moment a customer of said establishment. Just sayin'.

Attorney-Client Privilege Violation?

Yesterday, April 9, 2018, the FBI raided Donald Trump's attorney's offices and home, and seized various materials, including but not limited to materials related to Stormy Daniels.

I happened to be at a client's office at the time this news broke. This particular client is far left in her political orientation and was clapping her hands with glee upon hearing the news.  She is, once again, for the umpteenth time, certain that President Trump will now be impeached.

When I asked my client, "But wasn't Mueller supposed to be investigating Russian collusion with regard to the General Election of 2016?" she swept away my statement as irrelevant.
