Westminster crash outside Parliament treated as terror attack after car hits cyclists and ploughs into barriersAn idjit on Fox and Friends asked just now: "What does this keep happening?"
A man has been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences after a car crashed into security barriers outside the Houses of Parliament at high speed.
At least three people were injured when the silver Ford Fiesta hit a group of cyclists and pedestrians waiting for traffic lights to change. Witnesses said the car mounted the pavement on the wrong side of the road at up to 50mph and travelled around 40 metres (130ft) before hitting a bollard.
Westminster was in lockdown as armed police swarmed the scene on Tuesday morning. Witnesses said they thought "it looked intentional - the car drove at speed and towards the barriers".
Scotland Yard said a man in his 20s was arrested after the incident at around 7.30am. He was taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody on suspicion of terrorist offences.
Police said the crash is being treated as a "terrorist incident" and the Met's counter-terrorism command is leading the investigation....

DeleteIf the answer to any of these policy questions is informed by our general impressions about different nationalities' criminality and terrorist tendencies, it is important to guard against observational biases. The understanding one might develop of a group by actively looking for its members only among scum, is naturally dominated by that group's worst members. So to combat that it's useful to look for examples everywhere else, including in elevated positions.

I don't hate any individuals, but I have grown to hate the left. They are the enemy within. You can't just cram a bunch of dissimilar cultures together without bad, destructive things happening.

As far as terrorism goes, randomly running people over with cars is rather mild on the Timothy McVeigh scale. Or the Frank Castle / Mack Bolan scale, if things get so riled up that vigilantes decide to act on the do-it-yourself model that we see comic book / pulp novel levels of pinpoint targeted violence.

Read this about all the Indians crossing our southern border. I like Indians and wish our quota for educated families from there were higher, but this is different.

ReplyDeleteWe are in the throes of a global humanitarian crisis that has spurred one of the largest migrations in modern history not caused by a major war.

* Failed governments
* Economic deespair
* Stupid suicidal western governments incapable of protecting their borders
Haiti is a good example. A sovereign nation since 1804 still can't get its collective shite together. We Americans dump billions in charity and send whole teams down there to feed them, dig wells, construct sanitary facilities...
Unfortunately, there are many such suffering nations. Venezuela dies, bleeding out, at the hands of socialist fascism.
At what point do developed nations declare a global crisis? How long do we allow whole millions of people to suffer in the grips of corrupt, murderous governments?
Step one is slamming the gates. Bringing all the third-world ills to the west is not the answer.
We can all think of what the next steps should be...
Our history in Haiti is disgusting. From our backing the French in their restoration claims (Haiti was a big reason why we won the Revolution) after Haitian independence to the backing of Papa Doc to Clinton Foundation corruption we have helped devastate that poor country.
DeleteDucky, I have nieces and friends who've gone to work in Haiti for the poor and the Haitians keep asking where the Clinton money IS....they say "they get credit for it but we haven't seen it"...I also was told Sunday that the Red Cross has sent only 10% of the money they got in Haiti donations to Haiti.
