Enjoy Mikhail Glinka's Overture from Rusland and Lyudmila (aka the theme music for the television series Mom). Notice that conductor Valery Gergiev appears to be using a toothpick instead of the traditional baton:
The above piece is based on Alexander Puskin's 1820 poem Ruslan and Ludmila, about which we read this a Wikipedia:
...It is written as an epic fairy tale consisting of a dedication (посвящение[1]), six "cantos" (песни), and an epilogue (эпилог). Thats sure one complicated tale! The lack of a baton must have made it interesting for the orchestra members, having been in one.. Thanks, I had not heard of it before...
