Ebola Quotation Of The Day (With Addendum)

By Aesop, the owner of the blog Raconteur Report:

[T]he hospital in [Madrid] was using BL2 respiratory protection for a BL4 virus, and the nursing union in Madrid sent letters to the authorities months back telling them that if anyone was treated for Ebola in Spain, the hospitals wouldn't be adequately prepared, and that people were going to get infected as a result of inadequate equipment.

Short of hitting them upside the head with a tire iron, the medical workers did everything possible to tell the authorities how badly they were screwing the pooch.

The response from those authorities was to send the dog flowers afterwards, and point out the dog was asking for it.

Are we doing any better here in the United States?

  1. Please keep the following in mind:

According to all the reports we've heard, "Patient Zero" in Dallas didn't show any overt signs of Ebola when he flew here. How good are the Obama Administration''s proposed screenings going to be? Hmmmm?

  2. Both Hillary and Obama is incapable of telling the truth. What this country needs so badly is a leader that will lead and not hide behind lies to cover up their incompetence.
Hillary should be brought up on charges for lying to the American public! Susan Rice should be brought up on charges for spreading the lies of the Obama administration! Obama should be impeached for directing Susan Rice to lie about Benghazi to the American public. How can we ever trust anyone on the President's staff after something like this. It matters to the family and friends OF the 4 fallen HEROE'S
that died serving their country!!!! How could anyone want Hillary Clinton to be the President of the United States??? How could she ever be trusted??? Ask yourself that!
We do not need these people coming here bringing in this horrible disease. Our country is so full of illegal aliens, who, by any standard, are liars if not criminals, and to add to it these are the same people who enjoy trashing America, and who are a major threat our country!
We need to oust the bastards, and the “so called leaders” who allow and encourage this!

  3. Here is the deal, AOW. I live at Ground Zebola. I was absolutely appalled that the clinic reopened within a short time after the Deputy Sheriff showed up with potential symptoms. Great!

I saw the interview with his son. Great! Bigger pool of contacts. Lupe Valdez, the woman who heads the Sheriff Department? Crazy. Like an Ebola fox. She dispatched those men into the apartment where vomitus was probably all over the ratty carpet. The man was puking on the sidewalk, so I assume he did the same all over the apartment. No big deal. Drag the old feet through it, go home, take the shoes off, open the refrigerator and make a sandwich....

Our nation is now Ground Zebola. The blame goes to the top of the chain. I can't wait for mid-term elections. Americans are not violent by nature. But we can display passive aggressive tendencies at the polls....

    1. Tammy,
I, too, saw the interview with his son. The deputy sheriff certainly could have Ebola. I do understand why the son is in a state of disbelief as to the possibility.

And here's something else....Why did those two men from the Dallas Health Department enter that apartment with no protective gear on? I saw the photo on the front page of the WaPo -- and started laughing like a lunatic at the dangerous idiocy.

Maybe you know more than the rest of us about preparedness for an Ebola outbreak here in the United States. How prepared are we?

    3. No, Tammy. West Africa is ground zero and expecting the disease not to enter America without action THERE is irresponsible in the extreme.

Walk a mile in Tammy's shoes, and see if you don't become concerned.

She's an RN who works in Dallas. Furthermore, because of her military service, she knows what's when it comes to the various Bio-levels and the required procedures. Few RN's have that kind of knowledge and experience.

Obama and the Dhimmicrats are $h!tting down their pantlegs as November approaches. If people, especially all the Julias out there who look to Big Daddy Gov to protect them, realize the disease and illness Obama and his bureaucrats have unleashed on us, they are toast.

2:1 That is the sentiment. Americans oppose sending our troops to combat Ebola with a 2:1 ratio. I also oppose it, as a former LCDR in the USNR. I have been involved in a humanitarian mission with Fleet Hospital Dallas to treat baseline health issues in Ghana, W. Africa. I would be unwilling to travel to W. Africa to treat Ebola. Our troops did not sign up for that mission. Let the CDC send their staff - civilians who are paid to track and cordon disease. That is not the military mission.

  10. What pisses me off is that Obama is sending 3000 Marines to Lybia for what? To help fight this thing?
These Marines enlisted into the service to protect OUR country for the enemy, from terrorists, and such, not to put themselves in danger of catching the Ebola virus! Why in the world would we send 3,000 troops into the middle of the Ebola epidemic? He won’t send “Boots on the Ground” to fight ISSI, but he will where they can be exposed to this dreaded disease, This man is totally incompetent
It’s like sending sheep to the slaughter they are being sent by Obama, the Traitor in Chief.
Since when are the marines suppose to be a Florence Nightingale? Why should these people be exposed to this dreaded disease, and what will happen when they get back? Will they spread it to their loved ones? Or will they even come back?
That's NOT what Marines are for! This is insane. Our Marines don't belong there. This President is a so inept that if it wasn’t so sad, it would be a joke. Why isn't he sending ACORN over there? Or some of his community organizer friends?

    1. Let me see if I understand this.

One the one hand we have a general hysteria in Dallas over one case of the disease.

On the other we have a belief that we should not bother to control it in West Africa because a magic wand like banning all flights will keep it out.

      Sheer foolishness.
Here's a hint Debonair Dude, Ebola is a threat that requires protection. Now we can be proactive or we can all go sit in our cellars reading Camus', The Plague.

And what that old catch all, political correctness, has to do with anything is confusing.

  15. Good ol' Ducky, setting those strawmen aflame again.

I ( and I think most Obama critics) do believe we have the knowledge, infrastructure, etc to deal with this. It does not follow from this that visa restrictions are not in order, and a visa restriction is no guarantee that another case won't arrive upon our shores.

The liars and spokesmouths from the Obama Politburo are dealing in absolutes and all or nothings, and people detect that and skepticism and cynicism sets in.

You know, like back in the 60's when you were a long haired, dope smoking hippie professor and you didn't believe what Nixon's men were saying about Vietnam...

Geographical containment is a prudent measure, as are mandatory isolations and quarantines depending on circumstances.

Like any visa restriction, there are always exceptions.

As for sending our troops there... Their activities should be restricted to landing, kicking pallets off the back of the C-17, firing 'em back up and taking the hell off.

Political correctness? Seriously? Leftwing progs like you are all over the innerwebz bleating out "RACIST!" "NATIVIST!" at anyone who suggests the respiratory illness outbreak may be due to the Obama administration sending sick immigrant children all over the US.

Here's the political correctness: They insist it must have just spontaneously cropped up in numerous disparate locations, all at about the same time.

Want an even bigger laugh? Some of your Leftwing prog fellow travelers are even blaming... wait for it... wait for it... Global Warming! Great Gaia in the sky, someone get Reverend Al Gore on the horn.

Yes. There are racists in this country using current events to disparage Africans and Hispanics (Leftwing progs are not the only ones who know how to exploit a crisis), but that should never stop us from following the facts wherever they take us (the press is still calling the virus a "mystery illness"), and it should not prevent us from taking prudent actions.

      Yes.

But are the necessary protocols and training programs in place? I know nurses who are saying loudly and clearly, "We need training and practice!"

      Delete
    2. And here's something else, AOW. The proper donning, use and disposal of Personal Protective Equipment is critical, as is being fitted properly.

In the military we had to go through chem warfare training with all the gear, and you had to go through a chamber filled with teargas, among many other things, to verify you were wearing the gear properly.

Also, performing even routine tasks with all that on is a hassle. Then there is cleanup and disposal of infected materials...

None of it is impossible, but it requires the right gear, attention to detail, proper training, and practice.

      Delete
    3. SF,
      Those are important details.

It's not simply a matter of speaking and wave a magic wand to put those protocols into place. Special training and practice are essential!

      Delete
    4. All right, so we MAY be able to handle it, but why the hell SHOULD we have to "handle it," if having kept West Africans at bay from the First Sign of Trouble would have prevented us from HAVING to go through the agonies, as SilverFiddle describes them, of dealing with it effectively?

      Delete
  16. Oh THEY know that, but most of "them" would gladly DIE rather an admit they've been on the wrong track all their blighted, benighted, bigoted, misspent lives.

In many ways the mindset that guides the Left is very like the mentality that motivates the Suicide Bombers for Allah. The "gods" they worship may wear different costumes and have different names, but the cruelly mindless destructive impulse in each emanates from the same dark place in the human psyche.
