The Two-Party System

With a hat tip to Political Tea Leaves:

  1. The graphic sings the song of my people. What's stunning is that the notion of the political duopoly hobbling choice, efficiency and ultimately, liberty....is shared across the political spectrum. But most sheep are so scared of breaking out of the box...or ceding power (however temporary) to the "other side"....that they take no steps toward unshackling themselves from said duopoly.

Honestly, given today's consumer, drive-through culture.....I think a dangerous majority of Americans are simply content with not having to conduct critical thinking. The "us v. them" paradigm is easy/lazy.

    1. "a dangerous majority of Americans are simply content with not having to conduct critical thinking." Perfectly said!

    2. Not many are capable of critical thinking these days. And I'm not just talking young people.

  2. It's long past time we cast away the myths and illusions by which we've lived in perplexity, frustration, and rising fury, and gave congress a more appropriate name.

Its proper name would be JANUS.

  3. America is so far sown the rabbit hole that John Boehner decided in 2010 that it was no longer necessary to maintain the illusion.

    1. RINOS like Boehner, McCain, Romney, the Bush Clan, and McConnell are WORSE than Marxian-Fabian-Commnist-Socialist-Progressive-Liberal-Statist-Dictocrats, because they are wolves in sheep's clothing. They are the Registered Nurses of American politics. Very very creepy.

"We" experienced no victory whatsoever in November. The RINO establishment sees to it that the few AUTHENTIC voices of Conservative-Libertarianism are either marginalized or annihilated.

If you doubt there is COLLUSION between the leaders of the two parties, you may need to have your head examined.

  4. And some STILL would doubt the existence of The Oligarchs -- the unseen, unaccountable cabal of super-tich, unimaginably powerful international bankers, financiers, captains of global industries, owners of raw materials who have been plotting, quite openly, for more than a hundreds years to establish a New World Order -- One World Socialist-style Government run by The Oligarchs? To me it's as boldly plain as the faces on Mount Rushmore.

If it waddles and quacks like a duck, what else could it possibly be?

    1. FT,
It doesn't have to be The Oligarchs per se or an unseen hand per se. But the effect is the same, and the driving forces thereof are greed and power.

We no longer have a representative government.

Is everything in the omnibus bill bad? No. Overall, however, WE THE PEOPLE are screwed.

    2. Have you a better explanation, AOW?

INTERNATIONALISM is to blame, but that horse left the barn a long time ago. I think it's safe to say that virtually ALL our modern social ills came about as a by-products of the Industrial Revolution.

The Luddites may have been onto something after all. ;-)

Industrialization, which has produced all the modern 'conveniences' on which are now hopelessly dependent, created the drive toward ever0increasing dependence on CENTRALIZED POWER.

I have no idea what could be done to reverse the trends which have trapped us into our present set of predicaments. I can well understand what prompted the madness of Ted Kaczynsky and Timothy McVeigh -- just as I have come to understand what prompted Hitler's unfortunate rise to power. Obviously the "solutions" these individuals devised were completely wrong and hopelessly inadequate, BUT they understood the PROBLEMS that prompted their deadly actions very well.

    3. FT,
Have you a better explanation, AOW?

      No, I don't.

But we don't know what we don't know.

    4. Not so much the Luddites, FT.

Have you ever read Schumacher's Small Is Beautiful?
The idea of "enoughness". An idea that is not difficult to understand but very difficult to put into practice. He's a great alternative to McVeigh.

Those want a return to Norman Rockwell and Currier & Ives have to admit it's gone.
Myself, I'm still an advocate of "whoever controls the images controls the culture" (now more than ever) and don't see much hope as long as the corporate structure controls the media.

In the mean time, read Schumacher. He's an interesting writer. Influenced by Keynes and Thomas Aquinas.

    5. Duck,
In my view, assigning so much blame to the corporate structure is simplistic.

There wouldn't be a market for what's being churned out if people didn't want what's being churned out. Why people want what's being churned out is the lynchpin.

    6. They want it because it's what is there. It is constantly there.
The only alternative to boredom as work becomes routinely mechanized and art becomes a commodity.

      Warhol had it down.

    7. Ducky,
Schumacher also covers Buddhist economics in his treatise. Interesting.

I wonder if he was influenced by Aldous Huxley?

Have you read Island, by Huxley?

You would probably like it; one of the rare things we could share. He's a little heavy-handed with the philosophical themes, which is true for almost all his novels, but he makes an important point.

      We are all Palans now.

  5. This country is going to Hell in a Hand Basket and very quickly. If one loves America, one must hate Liberalism/Progressivism, the whole Democrat Party as it exists today..

No two ways about it. Every day, in every way, they strike a blow against this once great nation.

The Deceiver in Chief don't need to worry. Obama’s supporting voters will stick by him no matter what. They are that "Stupid". And because the president is black.
No hatred here, just the facts !

One only has to watch Dianne Frankenstein's repulsive, and disgusting, "CIA" report. To see the liars from the Left attacking America again, it should be very obvious.

But it’s not working, Americans are not as dumb as the Progressive bunch of creeps think they are.

For example:... The scrumptious, bountiful School lunch menu Malia And Sasha Eat
(Potato Sausage Soup; Firecracker Slaw; California Chef’s Salad; All Natural Jamaican Jerk Chicken Wings; Sweet Potato Black Bean Bake; Sautéed Local Greens; Gemelli Alfredo, and Sliced Pineapple)
Vs. The Crap Michelle Obama Has Foisted On America..

If You Like Your School Lunch, You Can Keep It! LOL

There Are None So Blind As Those Who Will Not See.

  6. @TPC,

"Americans are not as dumb as the Progressive bunch of creeps think they are."

That may be true but why do "Americans" seem to stay, dangerously, behind the curve? When, if ever, will we see the $#!t coming and [proactively] respond as opposed to letting it hit and then responding [reactively] ?

  7. This time around, even Fox news was complicit in keeping even those of us who are political wonks in the dark. I saw nothing on Fox news leading up to this vote fiasco until the time of the vote. Not much even on my favorite blogs. Drudge ran a couple of older headers. Breitbart was about it. Apparently the Coup is about complete. I now can put my tin foil away.

Even Fox News? They've been complicit in putting blinders on the right for some time.

Honestly, when WILL you learn that a cable channel that tells all sides of a story is a GOOD thing??

  10. FyI - IN CASE ANYONE CARES:

The "Flash Player has me blocked again for the THIRD time in the past four months. I don't know what the bossy bastards are trying to prove, but I am getting fed up to the teeth with these Net Despots controlling my net life from "On High."

I can't enjoy anyone's videos or anything in YouTube now.

To make matters even worse I now have to "prove I'm not a robot" every time I post in my OWN blog.

Can't you feel The Net drawing tighter and tighter around you? "they" have us all by the short hairs now, and they're starting to tug at us harder each day.

I doubt you'll be seeing much of me for quite a while. I have HAD it.

    Merry Christmas!

"Additional security measures" are a consequence of all the recent hackings (Sony, for example).

The best solution that I can offer is "Call the Geek Squad."
