Quotation Of The Day

Recently, Indigo Red made the following comment to the blog post Property Confiscation here at Always On Watch:

This is another example in which the Left has been allowed to redefine the terms. The BLM's charge to administer the land has morphed to ownership, though their original mandate has not changed. The BLM is only authorized to administer and manage the land on behalf of the people, the true and sole owners. The Constitution is quite clear on what land the Federal Government can actually and that is an area of land not exceed 10 square miles upon which the building to house the governmental functions are to be built. We call it Washington, D.C. The Federal Government is further authorized to acquire lands in the various states for the construction of military forts/bases for the period of time it deems the facilities necessary.

All the land we think belongs to the Federal Government, does not. Neither does it belong to the various States. It belongs wholly and solely to the American people and held in trust by the Federal Government for the benefit of the current generations and posterity.

How have WE THE PEOPLE allowed this to happen?

Why have WE THE PEOPLE allowed this to happen?

  2. Individual freedom diminishes in direct proportion to the number of citizens who cede their autonomy to the government in exchange for "services," most of which are spurious and of dubious character to begin with.

As the minority leaning on the government for support increases and eventually becomes the majority, the republic collapses of its own weight, and lapses onto tyranny.

In a Marxist-Socialist state the people literally DEVOUR one another.

Marxism eventually returns a society to the law of the jungle with one exception -- the erosion and eventual destruction is administered by officials who like to imagine they are "doing good."

The Marxist model is like a set of parents who indulge their infant's every whim, never let him confront reality, never encourage him to develop coping skills, never teach him anything of practical value, and then coldly throw him out of the house and forget his existence when they run out of money.

Permitting the State to act in loco parentis guarantees that children will be raised without warmth, affection, or any of the comforts and pleasantries of Bourgeois domestic and community life.

This IS what we've been doing to ourselves ever since the Progressive Era took hold.

  4. Hmmm, this Indigo Red guy is pretty smart sometimes. :)

There's more to it, too. When we were young(er), politicians would work hard for the people; now they fight. They would take office, assume office; now they take power. They once took responsibility for the benefit of the people; now they hide from accountability. They once fixed problems; now they fix blame.

The Left has redefined so much of the American language, we don't even recognize when we mangle the same terms.

  5. You just can’t shame a lying, malicious, underhanded, deceitful, dishonest, dishonorable, unethical, unprincipled, immoral, unscrupulous, fraudulent, dubious, person who trades on maliciousness, especially when the worst invective you can possibly hurl at such a person is worn proudly like some fiendish badge of honor. Ignoring such people to the point of irrelevance is the most you can ever hope to accomplish, and doing your dirty work then LYINJG to cover it up!.

  8. Alec Baldwin was arrested on May 13 in New York City, reports In Touch Weekly.

    Here we Go Again!
TMZ magazine obtained photos of the actor being handcuffed by a police officer, and according to an insider he was, "riding his bike the wrong way and didn’t have ID on him.”
"He became belligerent, yelling and screaming at the officers, 'I don't have ID. Just give me the f--king summonses,'" a police source told the paper.

  9. The questions "how" and "why" we have allowed America to get in this position are valid ones. I see the answer mainly being ... we who are against the actions of the Left, Progressives, whatever label we want to put on them ... have sat back and not done our jobs. The politicians we have elected on the Right have not done their jobs. They have sat back in order to 'get along' and allowed this to happen. We the people seem to have no control over what happens. The elected officials we send to Washington are supposed to do our bidding, and yet they do not. So the question becomes, how do we turn things around? I don't see an answer.

  12. Keeping land in trust for the American people is a crock of crap. What process may the people begin whereby they can take possession of that property “once more.” Well, the fact is that the people have never “owned” that land, and never will. We can demand nothing of this government; government has no obligation to the people beyond which the courts may direct. Few of “we the people” have millions to spend on legal fees, where the outcome is uncertain. As a case in point, the courts decided that “the people” had no standing in our demand to compel Obama to produce his birth certificate. So the first step in resolving these questions is to stop kidding ourselves about how much of America is really ours.

    1. Sam,
This is the problem: government has no obligation to the people beyond which the courts may direct.

The courts are packed with activist judges. They do much more than applying the existing statutes. Furthermore, the statutes themselves have become incredibly convoluted.

  13. I recall on CBS Sunday morning on their end of the year program they would include "gifts we gave ourselves". It included land that the Congress had approved to be "taken:. Now we have the monuments acts. Obama can lay claim to millions of acres with his darn pen and phone.

    1. Bunerville,
Decades ago, one of the statements that I used to hear about government debt was this: "There's nothing to worry about. We owe the money to ourselves." How can one reason with people who think in such a way?

One of the elephants in the room now is the definition of "the public good."

Obama himself has opined on many occasions about various measures: "It's the right thing to do." Constitutionality and any resulting burden of debt (taxation) don't matter if something is "the right thing to do"!

  14. So you're now saying you're a socialist and would rather the tax payers pick up the tab for his back fees?
