Obamanomics

(with a hat tip to THE ASTUTE BLOGGERS)

The graphic tells the sorry tale:

Reliapundit has more (from the Washington Post):
The American economy is less entrepreneurial now than at any point in the last three decades. That's the conclusion of a new study out from the Brookings Institution, which looks at the rates of new business creation and destruction since 1978.

Not only that, but during the most recent three years of the study -- 2009, 2010 and 2011 -- businesses were collapsing faster than they were being formed, a first.
You can see data about your state HERE.

Additional reading: Q1 GDP revised downward to -1.0%.

Our nation's economy is in a death spiral.

  1. I'm not sure what Obama has to do with this.

I'm not surprised, though. This is what happens when too much of the wealth is concentrated at the top. Innovation is stifled.

    1. No, this is what happens when you tax the productive class to the point of emaciation. This is what happens when you steal from the productive to give a free ride to the unproductive, through minimum wage laws, through-the-roof energy prices that result from carbon-hating Bolsheviks, and massive regulations on businesses.

    2. The productive class? Who's that, Stogie? Who's emaciated? Who's being taxed to such a point?

Not a very honest arguer, huh?

    3. Stogie, he has merely carried on the process of corporate deregulation started by Reagan and advanced by Clinton/Bush. Did you expect he wasn't going to kneel and fellate Robert Rubin?

Just what has he done that is any different than what's happened the last four decades?
Don't say deficit spending after the Raygun/Bush fiascoes.

This situation will turn around after all the people who quit their jobs because they were unhappy and now have obamacare start new businesses, wasn't that what Jay Comedy said.

    3. Obama does cause economic stagnation. His refusal to build the pipeline, his coal-killing policies, among other things. Obama inherited a terrible economy from his own party, the purveyors of home loans for everyone (or we'll sue) regardless of credit worthiness and the bubble that resulted. Then he took that bad economy and made it worse.

      What an unmitigated pantload.
Did the Dems have anything to do with Ameriquest and Countrywide? Unregulated brokers who were facilitated by Allen Greenspan's fed?

Are you one of those who believe that the Community Reinvestment Act which covered regulated lenders caused so many bad loans to be made that there wasn't sufficient liquidity to absorb them? If you do, you're one of the few. It's only a meme with the Teabags who apparently didn't follow the formation of the bubble.

Were the Dems responsible for Wall Street writing trillions in mortgage derivatives that were essentially bets that the housing market would continue to constantly rise?

Did mortgage defaults under the CRA constitute a large enough volume that they brought down the American investment banking system as well as many of the world's banking systems?
      Do you really believe that?

Yeah, build the Keystone and that will fix everything. Never mind that best analysis indicates it will cause a rise in domestic gasoline prices. Your completely superficial remarks on the housing bubble indicate you really have the handle on this.

      Please stop.

  6. It is difficult to capitalize business starts; starting a business, and keeping it beyond five years is, as an American standard, unusual. It has been thus for a very long time (as indicated by the chart) and none of the information projected is very surprising. Whenever government policy restricts economic growth, then we should expect the percentage of failed businesses to increase. This suggests that elections do have consequences ...

Obamacare, EPA restrictions....all have the best intentions; all should have gone slower....tested the waters, put people first.

It's obviously so simple for those on the Left to scorn the Right as if, because we're worried about things that have happened since Obama's admin., we believe it's ALL HIM. "ya, you're just picking on Obama...typical"

  13. Let’s face it and let’s be clear, under any other normal circumstances regarding the countries with Obama and the anger over the exchange of five Taliban commanders for a crumby yellow bellied Army deserter, combined with the anger from last months Veterans Administration revelations, you might think that Obama would have been impeached or would resign by now. But as we know this was not the case.
It was hard enough trying to keep up with the revelations of various scandals that have been the product of the Obama administration, but now into the second year of his second term, and the fact that Democrats, by their silence, give him consent to be a dictator. Republicans in congress, by their cowardice give him consent. Obama's reign has proved, in my opinion, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that we are through. Most under 30 haven't a clue as to the Constitution, it's original meaning, nor an appreciation for Freedom. He will never get congressional approval, not that he needs it as wéve seen, to do anything like this ever again... But just in case if he does proceed without it, I actually do believe, based on the unpopularity of this maneuver - that impeachment proceedings will ensue whether they will succeed or not and of course they will not. The same logic is applicable to Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the IRS conspiracy, the betrayal of Israel and his effort to facilitate the invasion of thousands of "undocumented democratic voters. The the Obama administration is playing this one very close to the chest, they even have Sergeant Bergdahl sequestered at a Military Hospital in Germany. No one from the media has spoken to or even seen Bergdahl. Apparently, not even his parents have spoken to the lousy traitor. But now he is putting our national security in danger with his lies, we were told that the deserter was in such bad condition that this deal had to be brokered at once or the creep would or might die. Now we find that Obama was lying again Sgt. Bergdahl Is Physically Sound, and not in bad shape at all. Go figure! I'm shocked! Shocked i tell you!

Translation: We aren’t ready for the public to meet him because he doesn’t fit the official narrative......

  14. Astonishing Stuff....we KNOW that he was "not in bad shape at all" now? I hadn't heard that but I am so not surprised. Still, I figured they'd find a doctor who'd go to bat for them. Remember, just the other day, Obama went a step further and said Bergdahl was near death.
They say Bergdahl WILL NOT speak to his parents yet....that he's so traumatized that this is normal. Could be; I'm no expert on that, thankfully.
I'll just say that were I to be confined for five years, the first two people I'd want to hear the voices of would be MY PARENTS.
I agree with a lot of your comment...thanks.

I think this one started when the equity bubble broke at the end of Clintoon's term and excess capital went into the housing market.

Yes, the data should be interesting.

We should keep in mind that healthcare premiums are now approaching and, for some exceeding, 30% of personal income. Will put a major dent in individuals' "stimulating" the economy.

Another factor: the Boomers are no longer driving the economy. For decades, the Boomers did drive the economy.

Our aging population and our welfare population are other major factors.

Further government regulation is completing the death spiral of what used to be "a free economy."

      Delete
  20. "it started long before Obama,"

Indeed, the "Community Reinvestment Act" started by Carter, and was buttressed by Clinton, then solidified by Chris Dodd and Barney 'Fag" all started before Obama. All Obama has done is drive us into about 70% more debt than we already had, as he and others actually think we've "saved" the Economy. Just wait to see what happens. I hope I'm not around.

I have a real-estate-agent friend who warned early on that the housing market was going to tank. "Those down payments are too low, and people are buying what they really cannot afford. In a few years, they take out all the equity and go further into debt!" she said several times over at least a decade.

    2. True enough but that has nothing to do with the CRA.

It's more a study in irrational failed markets and an argument for regulation.

  22. New York Times:
Thanks to president Obama, our border that is making us look like a banana republic. Tens of thousands of children — a literal Children’s Crusade — have flooded across our borders in the last few months. The government expects 60,000 illegal kids this year and double that next year. We are told most are between the ages of 15 and 17 with teenage girls bringing their illegitimate kids with them.

The government can’t take care of them all. There literally is no place to put them, so they are shipping hundreds of them by the day to Arizona and dumping them in warehouses and, in some cases, on the streets. There is one city alone that has over 47,000 of these illegal kids swarming around like flies on Horse manure. And they will be allowing their parents in as well shortly.

Since Memorial Day alone, federal immigration officials have flown hundreds of women and children to Tucson, where they were given medical and other tests. They were then sent by bus to Phoenix and left at the Greyhound station to find their relatives around the nation. They were told to report to an immigration center within 15 days of reaching their destination, officials said.

Immigration advocates have criticized the federal government for stranding the women and children in extreme heat with no money or food. Volunteers have stepped in to help them reach their families.

Obama the Liar and his progressive fascist followers want to destroy or fundamentally change our country. Unrestricted illegal immigration is one of their tools to achieve that goal. They don't care what problems it causes. Achieving their ideological goal is the only thing they care about. I simply don't understand why they become our problem and why we are suddenly obligated to feed, clothe and house them, and, probably render medical and even legal assistance to them, give them food-stames, schooling and the list goes on and on. And I just can’t wait until these “kid’s” start drinking and driving and selling drugs....
