Brussels, the seat of NATO and the EU, has today entered the third day of lock down.
ReplyDeleteThis is what war looks like. War has indeed been declared by the Islamic State (ISIS, ISIL), yet the West remains in a state of denial as to the fact that World War M has arrived. Furthermore, yesterday Obama declared yet again that ISIS is not "the varsity team." Sheesh.
Just as America control the skies, seas and oceans of the world, we must now commit ourselves to control the world's 'badlands'. We must become the world's nomads. So long as we cede the badlands to the laws and rules of nature, invaders will prey on the isolated communities who wall themselves off and try and keep them out.
ReplyDeleteFJ,
DeleteThe sentence before superscript 52 is chilling in its consequences for the West.
Welcome, world, to the American plateau...

ReplyDeleteI'm hoping all the comments will be "off topic" today :-) (just had to tease you).
ReplyDeleteAOW, I just want to say how much I admire your vigor and faithfulness to the cause(s).....with all you have going on at home, and all the teaching and what that requires, health challenges, etc., etc., you are still here in strong and effective ways.
SO, my "what's on your mind?" is thanks. And amazement :-)
Z,
DeleteA depressing slog at times. But I am a determined German and persevere.
And it is appreciated.
DeleteAs you know, I loved me a determined German....
DeleteI'm too weary to jump into a political discussion.
ReplyDeleteRather I'd like to mention an event in the film world which is the release of the recent restoration of Satyajit Ray's, The Apu Trilogy . It can finally be seen in its intended state and stands as a world masterpiece on the nature of the family.
It's an astounding accomplishment since Ray had never had much film experience other than doing location scouting for Renoir. His cameraman was a still photographer with no experience using a movie camera.
The found a young Indian musician looking for work to do the soundtrack, Ravi Shankar.
After filming in fits and starts for over a year they got a subsidy from the Bengali authorities and a masterpiece was born.
The negatives were badly burned in a film library fire and the trilogy existed in a very degraded state until the film institute in Bologna decided it had the technology to rehydrate the burned negatives.
The result is absolutely stunning.
If you download films I imagine it is available.
It's a work that reinforces my belief that, much more often than not, art helps us focus on common beliefs and problems.
See it. The word masterpiece may well be overused but not here.
Subtitled?
DeleteYes. But the films aren't dialog heavy.
DeleteI just heard that the parents of "Clock Boy" are entertaining a civil suit, amounting to some $15,000,000, against the school and the city; allegedly due to the trauma he endured while perpetrating a hoax. Poor little baby! Didn't the Fraud-in-Chief honor him at, what was once known as, the White House?
ReplyDeleteJon,
DeleteI hope that I'm wrongs but I expect that Irving will settle out of court -- and pay the jizya.
I wonder how Clock Boy is doing in that academically rigorous school in Qatar.
For an immigrant family, they learned quickly. Suing someone over hurt feelings is the new American way.
DeleteThey're going to have a tough time demonstrating lasting damages.
DeleteI doubt they'll prevail.
True dat. Agreed.
DeleteIf city of Irving settles this it will be a bloodbath. 99% of the townsfolk want this maggot crushed and stomped. It will end the political career of any spineless administrator who signs off.
"I wonder how Clock Boy is doing in that academically rigorous school in Qatar."
ReplyDeleteYeah, me too; that brilliant little rocket scientist !
I'm happy he is in Qatar.
ReplyDeleteROFLMAO!
ReplyDeleteBeamish,
DeleteHillary didn't stop to think about the personal impact, huh?
I like rabbits, deer, various birds and all sorts of wild life. I wouldn't think of shooting anything of that ilk. So why am I armed 'to the teeth'?
ReplyDeleteTo keep other "wild" life at bay...
DeleteHUH?

In 2012, rather than defend freedom of speech, Hillary and Obama apologize profusely to the Muslim world for a video that besmirched Mohammed, the same video they falsely blamed for the Benghazi attack. As Obama said a few weeks later in his speech before the UN, "The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam."
In 2013, Obama was obviously upset when Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood were overthrown in Egypt.
In 2014, Obama and Kerry favored Hamas a terrorist group over Israel.
In 2014, a woman is “beheaded” at a factory and it was designated workplace violence.
In February 2015, Obama met with the Muslim Brotherhood behind closed doors. The White House released this statement: “The President reiterated his Administration’s commitment to safeguarding civil rights through hate crimes prosecutions and civil enforcement actions.” In other words, Muslims are to be considered ”victims" of hate crimes and must be protected from criticism.
Now, Obama is giving the terrorist state of Iran the deal of a century. The Iranians are celebrating in the streets over their "victory" over the great satan, chanting "death to America". The American people are not celebrating in the streets.
