7. Many in America decry Government telling businesses how to operate, calling instead for free markets. And then support price subsidies for farm and agricultural interests.
And many don't! Like those of us who have decried subsidizing tobacco and the people it kills. Whether it's sending money to the welfare queens of the urban core or the welfare kings of ADM - we're agin' it!
Bay... it's a shame we don't hear those words from more on the conservative side of the ledger.
I know the left opposes the subsidies because they want the $$$ for other projects, but I've always wondered why the GOP, et al, just aren't philosophically against it, or more open to speaking against them.
Silver, that is exactly true... and it is on both sides. That's why I don't get why for the most part, the GOP gets a pass from many conservatives on this issue.
Everyone, it seems, likes their subsidies, most not your subsidies!

I'm still trying to understand the POV that can classify Obama and Hillary as socialist. Seems that any manifestation of the social welfare state has the right conditioned to scream, socialist.
When that psychotic left-winger Ronald Reagan squandered the opportunity to nuke the Commies off the face of the Earth, we should have known we'd still be dealing with the creep of socialism 35 years later.

Maybe it is just votes on both sides...
It's way more than half the country that is subsidized... and it ain't just the people Romney infamously fingered.
ReplyDeleteApolitical corporations and global financial behemoths with no loyalty whatsoever to the US are feeding at the trough

ReplyDeletePretty limiting.
Funny, I could say the same about the Left's referring to every evil in the world as "capitalist".
DeleteHow is a "the social welfare state" NOT socialist?

DeleteCongress wouldn't have stood for that.
