  1. Joy Behar has proposed women go on a sex strike over the Roe v. Wade kerfuffle. Easy for her to say...

    1. SF,
LOL to your last sentence above.

    2. I don't think that would be possible, sf. She was locked out by management years ago.

    3. LOL SF! :) I did not know she was woman ... actually I thought she was a parasite! :p

    4. Layla, you obviously are not a biologist.

  2. I suspect you're joking about that last bit, but... "He who laughs last," you know.

  3. I rarely [if ever] consider spending my time on books of a current political bent, but Esper's upcoming book looks like a fun read.

    1. Did you read about him wanting to bomb drug factories in Mexico? I guess he never read Clancy's The Sum of All Fears...

It's unfortunate he gave out-of-the-box thinking such a bad odor. We need our government to think in new ways.

    2. I'm all for creative solutions. But given my position on drugs and lobbing projectiles into neighboring, sovereign nations [and our track record for actually hitting the right target].....I'm not sure this was a great suggestion.

Better than shooting D.C. protestors in legs though....

    3. I'm not defending that at all. We do need fresh thinking, and anyone who's done some heavy brainstorming session attempting to crack a tough nut, rule 1 is don't self-edit and don't immediately shoot down others' ideas.

    4. I still agree, but still with a caveat. "Nobody will know it was us", is not brainstorming. One's brain need be engaged for that.

I know you're not on board with that line of 'thinking'....I'm just still amused by it all.

      Schadenfreude is my kryptonite.

Talking about a President that watched the movie Three Kings and actually thought US soldiers stole millions of dollars from Iraq...

  4. Biden's sending more taxpayer-funded weapons and materiel to Ukraine. Looks like the US and western nations are prepared to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian.

When reality kicks in, the hangover's gonna be a bitch...

    1. Sure, but the U.S. and NATO weren't exactly putting a gun to Ukraine's head and forcing them to fight against a murderous invasion against their sovereign territory.

The .Mil Nerd in me is still in the honeymoon phase of the BDA intel we're getting from the stiffer than expected resistance [and outright pushback].

Our tax dollars are always going to go toward some idiocy or another, at least this effort has Russian bodybags as chip markers.

    2. The secondary and tertiary effects from the on-going conflict will be felt worldwide. The shortage of food and fertilizer alone will cause food riots in poor countries and climbing inflation in richer ones.

Can Germany depend on Russian gas next fall and winter?

How long will European neighbors put up with millions of refugees?

Does anyone think that if Putin falls, someone 'better' will take his place?

      But anyhoo... Happy Saturday everyone!

    3. Just wait until our merchant ships loaded with surplus weapons and ammo start disappearing in the Atlantic and Med....

    4. They won't be shooting at USN ships... but as always, the merchant marines are 'expendable'. Anyone remember the tanker war in the 80's? Didn't think so. Unintended consequences...

    5. @SF - All avoided had Russia not invaded Ukraine, no? Seems that Ukrainians are expendable in everyone's different perspective.

    7. I'm still waiting for the experts to tell us how this ends and what a win looks like.

      Delete
    8. A 'win' is going to look different to each party involved. Take your pick.

Besides, the long game has never been part of our foreign policy doctrine.....why start now?

      Delete
    9. What is our current foreign policy/ doctrine? Do what CIA's experts tell us we should do today? At least James Monroe had a comprehensible/ intelligible "doctrine" no wholly dependent uponthe whims of some post-modernist American general's SuperEgo.

    10. I think that to this administration, a "win" is Thermonuclear war.

I've been obsessed with Chess lately. Some advice I have taken to heart is never commit to the Grob's Attack opening (pawn to G4) unless you're absolutely sure your opponent doesn't know how to play Chess, you've gotten them stoned on hallucinogens, and lobotomized them for good measure first.

The point of the Grob's Attack is to quickly smash black's queen side back rank and force a resignation. But it will almost always fail against a player that develops their resources to exploit the gaping weakness on white's King side.

Putin opened with the Grob's Attack. Because he's an idiot.

I wonder what Putin's "PeOpLe ArE dYiNg In ThE dOnBaSs" argument would have looked like in the United Nations, where civilized people make such cases and ask for help.

Don't be silly. Putin's invasion of Ukraine had nothing to do with "PeRsEcUtEd RuSsIaNs" and everything to do with his Wagner Group flunkies' failure to complete their insurgency to terrorize eastern Ukrainians into leaving their homes.

Spending close to 2% of Russia's annual government budget alone on delivering water to the Crimean occupation probably qualifies as a sunk cost fallacy.
