Unknown Numbers

Misogyny and enslavement, long after the supposed elimination of slavery in the West and the long after the supposed arrival of equal rights for women, are apparently on the rise (hat tip to Creeping Sharia):

Some of the brutalization of Muslim girls and women in the UK is coming to light. For example this article appeared in the Telegraph on April 22, 2012 (hat tip to Will). Excerpt:
As many as 100,000 women in Britain have undergone female genital mutilations with medics in the UK offering to carry out the illegal procedure on girls as young as 10, it has been reported.

[...]

Research suggests that every year up to 6,000 girls in London are at risk of the potentially fatal procedure, and more than 22,000 in the UK as a whole....
A similar, more detailed article also appeared in Mail Online on April 22, 2012, and has numerous comments. Furthermore, the latter article brings out the difficulty with legal procedures involving these crimes against females:
Police have failed to bring forward a single conviction.

Only two doctors have ever been struck off by the General Medical Council.
No mention of "Islam" or "Muslim" appears in either article, of course, in a nod to "Islamophobia" and political correctness.

Yes, both honor killings and FGM do predate Islam. That said, who is committing these horrific practices today – even in the West, where the code of law forbids such vileness? Mostly Muslims? Exclusively Muslims?

Again, the actual numbers of honor killings and genital mutilations in both the West and around the world remain unknown.

  1. We should learn a lesson. Why would a civilized western culture invite in people whose culture has nothing in common?

  2. Kewanio che Keeteru!

    When superstition dark and hauty plan
    Fettered the genius and debased the man,
    Each trifling legend was as truth received;
    The priest invented, and the crowd believed;
    Nations adored the whim in stone or paint,
    And gloried in the fabricated saint.
    Some holy guardian, hence, each nation claims—
    Gay France her Dennis, and grave Spain her James,
    Britons at once two mighty saints obey—
    Andrew and George maintain united sway,
    O'er humbler lands the same odd whim prevails;
    Ireland her Patrick, boasts her David, Wales.
    We Pennsylvanians, these old tales reject,
    And our own saint think proper to erect—
    Immortal Tammany of Indian Race,
    Great in the fields, and foremost in the chase,
    No puny saint was he, with fasting pale,
    He climbed the mountains, and swept the vale;
    Rushed through the torrent with unequaled might;—
    Your ancient saints would tremble at the sight—
    Caught the swift boar, and swifter deer with ease,
    And worked a thousand miracles like these.
    To public views, he added private ends,
    And loved his country most, and next his friends.
    With courage long he strove to ward the blow,
    (Courage we all respect, e'en in a foe)—
    And when each effort he in vain had tried,
    Kindled the flame in which he bravely died!
    To Tammany let the full horn go round;
    His fame let every honest tongue resound;
    With him let every generous patriot vie
    To live in freedom, or with honor die!
    Nor shall I think my labor too severe,
    Since ye, wise sachems, kindly deign to hear.

  3. Such a barbaric culture is incompatible with western civilization!

    If a non-Muslim imprisoned a woman, or murdered her when she did not obey, they would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The news would be ablaze with the case.

    Yet this sort of thing can go on virtually unchecked in the Muslim communities, and hardly a thing is done.

  4. "Research suggests ..."

    I'm sure the research is highly detailed and documented.

    Of course there may be an entirely different reason for the low arrest rate.

  5. Let’s not overlook the fact that the American progressive community is equally willing to overlook barbaric behavior —useful idiots who gleefully enable women to be so mistreated. Is there a better way to ensure “obedience” than by stocking harems with 9-year old girls? And why are progressive organizations so silent on this issue, again?

  6. I have done a number of posts on this topic. 85 percent of Egyptians support Female Genital Mutilation. Mubarak and his wife fought hard and took on the clerics in opposition. We know what happened to him, and now the arab spring will turn on a hideous nightmare for women. Thanks you Mr. Obama for this stunning foreign policy victory that will install the radical Muslims into power. Genius.

  8. The facts are here..the percentage of suicides, the viciousness of the killings.........imagine those young people responding favorably to any of those questions?

    I hope more and more muslims speak out....sad to hear that one muslim say he packs up and goes if the community he's trying to work in won't listen.

    Also, I found it appalling that the father interviewed said he'd hate for a daughter to be divorced because then he'd have to take her back in his house. WHat kind of people..? THAT's a reason for not liking divorce? How about HER? It's as if they still live hand to mouth and one more mouth is all they disdain....even if it's a daughter. Where is the LOVE? In ANY of this?

  9. Duck,
    "Research suggests" is a likely a statistical estimate. Note that which follows in that same paragraph:

    Research suggests that every year up to 6,000 girls in London are at risk of the potentially fatal procedure, and more than 22,000 in the UK as a whole....

    Duck, you said:

    Of course there may be an entirely different reason for the low arrest rate.

    Such as?

  10. Z,
    In fundamentalist Islam, women are the property of men. I submit that the Islamic version of love toward females differs greatly from Western views on that topic.

    Old Arab proverb, but I can't recall where I learned it....

    Q: Which would you hate to lose more -- your wife or your land?

    A: My land! I can always get another wife.

  11. Mustang,
    The West has been overrun by multiculturalism. In the name of multiculturalism, Western values are being abrogated.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Bunkerville,
    The Arab Spring is renewal, all right -- the revival of fundamentalist Islam.

    Now, the Arab Spring may well have started out as something else. But, if so, it was quickly co-opted by forces that have been biding their time.

  13. These people are tantamount to a large measure of lethal poison dumped in the wells that provide water for Western Civilization.

    Their ways are not our ways. Their thoughts are not our thoughts. Kipling said, "East is East and West is West and never the twain shall meet."

    Unfortunately, modern liberalism scorns the wisdom of his words.

  17. Admirers of the Sons of Tammany (aka - Sons of Liberty) annually honour their father, even though, as the poem goes...

    As old age came on, he grew blind, deaf and dumb,
    Tho' his sport ‘twere hard to keep from it,
    Quite tired of life, bid adieu to his wife,
    And blaz' d like the tail of a comit, my brave boys.
    What country on earth, then did ever give birth,
    To such a magnanimous saint?
    His acts far excel all that history tell,
    And language too feeble to paint, my brave boys.
    Now to finish my song, a full flowing bowl;
    I'll quaff' and sing the long day,
    And with punch and wine paint my cheeks for my saint,
    And hail ev'ry first of Sweet May, my brave boys."

  36. Really? That's all you got? Lol!

    Top 10 Shocking Attacks from the GOP's War on Women

    1) Republicans not only want to reduce women's access to abortion care, they're actually trying to redefine rape. After a major backlash, they promised to stop. But they haven't yet. Shocker.

    2) A state legislator in Georgia wants to change the legal term for victims of rape, stalking, and domestic violence to "accuser." But victims of other less gendered crimes, like burglary, would remain "victims."

    3) In South Dakota, Republicans proposed a bill that could make it legal to murder a doctor who provides abortion care. (Yep, for real.)

    4) Republicans want to cut nearly a billion dollars of food and other aid to low-income pregnant women, mothers, babies, and kids.

    5) In Congress, Republicans have a bill that would let hospitals allow a woman to die rather than perform an abortion necessary to save her life.

    6) Maryland Republicans ended all county money for a low-income kids' preschool program. Why? No need, they said. Women should really be home with the kids, not out working.

    7) And at the federal level, Republicans want to cut that same program, Head Start, by $1 billion. That means over 200,000 kids could lose their spots in preschool.

    8) Two-thirds of the elderly poor are women, and Republicans are taking aim at them too. A spending bill would cut funding for employment services, meals, and housing for senior citizens.

    9) Congress just voted for a Republican amendment to cut all federal funding from Planned Parenthood health centers, one of the most trusted providers of basic health care and family planning in our country.

    10) And if that wasn't enough, Republicans are pushing to eliminate all funds for the only federal family planning program. (For humans. But Republican Dan Burton has a bill to provide contraception for wild horses. You can't make this stuff up).

  38. It doesn't look like those of us who have our heads screwed on straight are getting anyplace at all. No matter what we say or how we vote, there seems to be some kind of insanity governing those who govern that persuades them to permit a steady increase in the saturation of our (and all western) society by this kind of barbarism.

    Islamics move in, grow their share of the population through mass immigration and childbirth, produce orgs that use our own legal system to protect or obscure their less civilized practices and customs, and next thing you know it, these abnormalities end up the "norm".

    Even GOP politicians you'd think would become pretty vocal on some of this stuff seem not to notice anything wrong, or to ignore what they must know is happening.

    ReplyDelete
  39. "I can't even begin how many times I have posted about this cruel and wicked religion."

    Actually such a comment is wicked and very unChristian of you.

    Though you can profess as much as you like to what you think is correct or not, your lack of context, obvious lack of knowledge about the subject itself and massive exagerations only makes your argument fail miserably.

    Confusing what is actually cultural in comparison to what is actually Islamic is the easy way out that is so typical of those with a lazy miopic view of the world. Just like sourcing your information from others whom are also sourcing their information from others - it becomes third-party hearsay - like Bunkervilles continuous claims that 85 per cent of Egyptians support FGM - repeating a baised report constantly does not make it any less baised.

    FGMT is practiced all through various regions in AFrica in Christian, Muslim and Animist communities - that is the fact.

    Abuse of women is a global problem and you just have to take five minutes to work that out on the net, unless of course your only looking in one place only. Yes Arabs, Turks and South Asians have a very sexist abusive cultural heritage - no doubts there, but so do Latinos, Slavs and India has more female infanticide and spouse abuse than any other area. South Africa is the rape capital whilst ther are arguments that one in two of every woman and girl in the Congo has been raped during the conflict there.

    If you add context, then the story is different. Go ahead and write about the problems, comment and so on, but do it right.

    A last commment - if you think Creeping Sharia is a source, your contextually screwed from the start!
