The Times they are a Changin'

Shaddap, white progressives.  Black woman with a gun talking!

Virginia's new GOP Lt Governor:
“The Democrats have been successful in instilling fear in people who look like me,” she told Zenger in a wide-ranging interview. “I have had white liberals talk down to me — talk down to me, and as if I didn’t exist — simply because I’m a Republican.”

“I mean, how dare you? Who told you you could talk to me that way? Because I’m not the right kind of black? Is that how this works?”
(First Black Woman GOP Lt. Governor Nominee Crusades In High-Stakes Virginia)

How many progressives are weeping with joy that a former slave state has elected its first Lt Governor woman of color?

Semper Fi, Winsome Sears.

  1. Progressives have long been perplexed by anyone voting against their own interests (in the progressive's estimation of course), except of course for wealthy liberals. They're allowed to vote against their own interests!
That tiny hypocrisy gives me a clue as to what the real issue might be: I think it's the progressive's failure to imagine a sincere conservative point of view, they can only imagine a corrupt party protecting the elite's (not the liberal elite, the real one) narrow interests and fobbing off the masses with meaningless trinkets. To be fair to the progressive, the official conservative parties do little to disabuse him of that.
To the progressive who holds the above opinion of the republican party, of course he'd talk down to anyone who votes for it: they're either immoral for profitting from it, or stupid for falling for it. IMO it's only a race issue inasmuch as the progressive thinks the republican platform is even more disastrous (and obviously so) for non-whites than it is for the majority of whites.

    1. Excellent observation. I don't know if you have been paying attention to this, probably not, but Virginia is a blue state, and Republicans have just won the governor and lieutenant governor. As Joe Biden would say, this is a big effing deal

    2. SF - It's notable, but don't forget that just across our northern border, the People's Paradise of Maryland has had a popular GOP Governor for quite some time.

    3. I'd add to that, since the 1977 Gubernatorial election, the party out of power in the White House, has only lost one election for Governor. In 11 out of 12 elections, only Terry McAuliffe has bucked that trend during the Obama Administration.

    4. CI, all noted. I'm not making anything bigger out of this than it is. It's just that, as an outsider, I'm not from Virginia, I was stunned when I saw the election projections last night.

  2. Good on her for winning [though I really don't get the business attire/firearm photo that seems to be trendy among the virtue-signalling Right]. She makes a good point in the quoted text.

It's a good win for the Virginia GOP, though most Virginians are waking up this morning and researching exactly what the hell the Lt Gov even does.

More concerning to civil liberties, is the AG race, which last time I checked, is too close to call.

Youngkin is secretly thanking McAuliffe for handing him the victory, by way of his asinine comment during the last debate. All most knew about him before then was that he liked basketball. His rhetoric of an enormous education budget is worrisome, especially if he doesn't throw a bone to the large home-school population of this State, like all of his GOP predecessors failed to do.

  3. And so the Biden / Harris Bunch of Idiots lost Virginia.

And It's NOT JUST Youngkin in Virginia, the Americans SWEPT the Virginia elections, and the Nazis were shut out.

According to the AP, Republicans have stormed through Virginia, and the Republicans are winning throughout the Country , and things are look good for them ... Lets GO New Jersey, Lets Go Brandon!

  4. PC, aside from your hyperbolic eat-shit-and-howl-at-the-moon ultra partisan nonsensical rant and taking most every talking point from the playbook handed to you from the QAnon and MAGAnut masters (albeit you omitted Jewish laser beams shot from outer space to start CA forest fires as well as the electromagnetism from the beam switching Trump votes to Biden votes), and while I do agree that Dems are facing a political bloodbath in 2022, I'm reasonably sure that as of today, this claim you make that they've "lost their power" and "are no longer a political party" defies reality as they still hold the Oval Office as well as both lower and upper chambers of Congress.

A recent stroll down history lane also shows that all 3 of these positions of power was held by the Trump admin and he lost it all in a mere 4 years.

    1. Well Frank, I've asked several times what it is precisely (meaning actual legislation or Executive Orders or such rather than the basket of gulibles simply being instructed to call him Sleepy Joe and such) that Biden has done to cause these unknown atrocities but no one seems to want to go there.

  5. Frank, my my, why are today's so-called conservatives always so angry? Seems to me you guys should be in a festive mode.

I realize from your writings that you paint with a very wide brush but I take no responsibility for what "you Democrats always tell us" or how you choose to interpret it.

My comment had nothing to do with my take on last night's election. I was simply correcting PC's statement that the Democratic Party are no longer relevant as they still holds both the Executive and Legislative branches of government.

So I really don't know what there is to "suck up" or for that matter, who should be sucking it up.

Additionally and while I appreciate your advice on what I am to "tell all my progressive friends", I think I'll reserve the right to make those decisions rather than being instructed to by some angry guy on the Internet called Frank.

  6. Frank... has anyone claimed the election in VA was stolen or rife with fraud? I mean, lots of people before the election were doing so, but they were all Republicans.

John Fredericks, Amanda Chase, John Rich, Steve Bannon, John Mills and more. All conservatives, all supporters of the GOP.

McAuliffe ran a terrible campaign. Youngkin ran a perfect campaign. And as CI pointed out, the party of the sitting president rarely wins in VA. It's just history and fact.

Dems will be scratching their heads on this for months. But they're not gonna be claiming fraud, nor should they.

    1. Well, Trump has claimed today that Youngkin's win is proof that the Virginia electoral count in 2019 was 'rigged'. But that just reinforces his obvious disconnect with reality.

An article today in The Bulwark sums up McAuliffe's loss succinctly: "An uninspiring candidate with no big ideas and terrible messaging."

Though she probably wouldn't have bested McAuliffe had she won the convoluted GOP Primary....the thought of Amanda Chase of Governor would be enough to make me move to West Virginia and suck up a much longer commute.

  7. Little discussed is all the down ballot candidates in various states that will change the shape of government. Here is one:

    1. So far, at least 7 Jan 6 insurrection attendees were elected to public office last night.

Changing the shape of government might be an understatement.

    2. Ronald, could you clarify your last remark please? Do you mean those six people attended the Trump rally where Trump and other spoke, or that they entered the capital with the rest of the trespassers and vandals?

      Delete
    3. I’ll concede my wording could have been misleading, depending on how intentionally organized the insurrection was and what role who played. This is something Trump and the Republican Party doesn’t want us to know.

To my knowledge, all 13 rally attendees that were on some sort of ballot have denied entering the Capital and no evidence or charges indicates they did. I’m thinking 3 have admitted joining the march to the Capital.

      Delete
    4. OK, then they did nothing illegal or that would disqualify them from office.

      Thank you for the clarification.

      Delete
    5. The entire rally was explicitly premised on an attempt to overturn the 2020 election.

Again, if Trump and Republican lawmakers would stop using every trick in the book to obstruct investigating the details, maybe the American people and the world would get a better look at who did or didn’t do something illegal.

      Delete
    6. There was absolutely nothing illegal about the rally. Why can't you guys just face facts. What happened at the capital included criminal activity and it must be investigated and perpetrators prosecuted. The conflation BS ain't working for you guys

  8. Joe Biden blamed the losses on faith pass his agenda.
I'd say it was BECAUSE of his, or his masters', agenda.

  9. Doc’s Wife, this is just another case of Biden having to clean up the mess of his incompetent predecessor.

This $450k proposal is considered by many to save the U.S. countless of $ in litigations from Trump’s hideous and immoral acts while helping to wipe the stained image from the world’s eyes. It not only rights a wrong with a meager compensation for damaged done along with an image repair but saves us money in the long haul.

I suspect your are a troll bot.

    2. No, Ronald's not a bot, he's just allowed his Party loyalty to override his judgement imo. There are plenty of republicans in the same position, of course.

    3. Troll bot? Dens (sic)?

Do you feel these elementary level insults give credence to your argument?

And you feel that Biden ushered in high prices and inflation? Seriously?

Yes, the boarder is quite a mess but again, your alluding to Joe as the culprit goes against the backdrop of reality. In fact, the entire “Dems are for open boarders” memes defy history as both parties have assisted Corporate America and Motel 6 for decades in utilizing this cheap labor, turning a blind eye as they came over in droves and overstayed their visas.

Even Trump himself was (still is actually) big on exploiting this cheap labor until it became politically advantageous to rally white supremacists and convince his basket of gullibles that the brown men, under the direction of Democrats, were coming to sell drugs to our kids, rape our wives, steal our jobs, and then kill us (you know, rather than coming for the opportunity to have a better quality of life or to send money back home to feed their family or in many cases, fleeing for their lives from a tyrant government).

So to protect the gullibles from the invented brown murders, rapist, and drug dealers, not only would an impractical and utterly nonsensical beautiful wall be constructed to cocoon the basket so they could sleep comfy in their beds at night but he’d implement a boarder deterrent program for his goons to pull babies and toddlers from screaming mother’s arms and in many cases, to never be seen again. And not to be outdone, he signed an Executive Order to allow these Gestapo style goons to enter homes and take hard working adults away from their spouses and children and deported to a country they never knew for the crime of being brought over at the age of 2 by their parents.

So yes, Biden is again dealing with the gross negligence of his predecessor, forced to compensate at a cheaper price than litigation while trying to remove some of the stench the Hitler loving con man left behind.

  10. The Democrats are in full panic mode. Their absurd radical socilaist policies have come back to bite them. How can they win when they couldn't cheat this time!

Dems did everything they could to make this about race. And when they couldn’t talk about race, they are taking about Trump.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Frank, I’ll agree Dems are or should be in full panic mode and should have been even before Tuesday. There are multiple reasons but not what you list.

Your claims are actually ass backwards as race baiting was actually one of Republicans winning strategies. And while yeah, Dems did make it about Trump but this isn’t exactly Trump country. If anything, the culprit is partially that Biden FAILED to deliver what you refer to as socialist policies.

But by all means, keep grasping around in Biden’s pants. Maybe you’ll find something that sticks.
