The Genius Of AOC (With Video Addendum)

For various reasons, Amazon axed its plans to open a NYC headquarters.

AOC jumped in to take credit for Amazon's change of mind — and both the loss of jobs and tax revenue (Ego much?):

From Powerline Blog's "How Dumb Is Ocasio-Cortez?":
... This is where Ocasio-Cortez went off the rails and took a deep dive into stupidity:

You know, I think it’s really important that we understand that we need to invest in our economy, but we need to invest in our people, and to give away $3 billion to a company that has a history of worker exploitation that’s paying below what the cost of New York City is not acceptable for us.
Of course, New York wasn’t going to “give” Amazon anything, let alone $3 billion. The $3 billion is an estimate of forego ne tax revenues. In other words, money that Amazon won’t pay New York, not money that New York will pay Amazon. This is childishly simple, but apparently too much for AOC....

    2. Hi, Ed,

Isn't the tension caused by POLARITY the main force that keeps the spheres from recklessly careening out of their orbits then crashing into each other with devastatig effects?

In my more moderate, less hot-tempered days I used to say "No bird can fly with only one wing. Both left and right are required to keep the creature airborn."

Now, I'm no longer sure that the ability for Man to be airhorn is all that great a thing.

Between the Wright Brothers and Henry Ford leaving Einstein out of it haven't more untimely deaths have ocurred since they made their contributiods to Progress than in all the tens of thousands of years before their great inventions revolutionized the way we live?

  2. OFF-TOPIC, BUT A SI}GNIFICANT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of SOMETHING ALL of "US" CONSERVATIVE-LIBERTARIANS have KNOWN since the GITGO:

To Get Trump, FBI and Justice Department Officials Trampled the Constitution

    Fox News

by Mark Penn< - [former campaign-advisor to HRC!]

The most egregious anti-democratic actions ever taken by the what can now fairly be called the Deep State are confirmed with the publication of fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe’s new book detailing how the FBI and Justice Department plotted to remove President Trump from office for firing FBI Director James Comey. Justice Department and FBI officials spied on U.S. citizens with false warrants, gave a pass to one presidential campaign with a predetermined investigation, investigated another political campaign on the basis of no verified evidence, and illegally leaked information on investigations. They discussed wiretapping and using the 25th Amendment ...

  3. In my opinon AOC is a media-generated MYTH –– a CHIMERA –– a stupid, shrill, conceited, self-promoting MONSTER BRAT" created almost entirely out of sleazy whole loth by the PUBLICITY she has perversely attracted.

If the ENEMEDIA –– and now "US" –– stopped TALKING ABOUT HER, her fake"Meteoric Career" would quickly cease to flourish.

AOC is the moral equivalent of an INTERNET TROLL.

Aren't we always being advised "DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS?"

Why then do we continually HELP AOC and others like her to STAY ALIVE?

If we just STOPPED TALKING ABOUT THEM, they would soone VANISH.

The more we SAY about this grotesque "enfante terrible" the more her perverse influence is apt to INCREASE.

Do you think AOC, –– as I'm beginning seriously to suspect ––, might be a product of AI?

In other words HUMANOID but NOT really HUMAN –– a highly advanced life-like ROBOT?

It's very hard for me to relate to this strange, eerily provocative creature, known as AOC. She [IT?] has caused me to doubt we could be members of the same species.

How many of "THEM" do you suppose there are that have infiltrated and stealthily taken over the upper echelons of society where all major policy decisions are made for us –– more and more against our ollective will, as it turns out?

Life today seems more and more like a neverending episode of the Twilght Zone.

  4. OCrazyo Cortez got to that position, the one that allows her the salary, the fancy clothes, the attention, because only 4% of her constituents chose to vote.
She claims to have killed all those jobs for her former neighbors.

  5. I read something this morning that says that even if Sandy O took credit, it was probably the legacy of Robert Moses that killed the deal.
"The difference today is that no amount of leverage is capable of overcoming resistance from a small star chamber in Albany known as the Public Authorities Control Board. Without unanimous support from the three voting members of the PACB, Amazon’s plan was dead in the water."

    ReplyDelete
  6. My hunch is that Cortez is simply a bit player in this theatre of the absurd. I doubt very highly that she was a major factor or even a factor at all in this Amazon fiasco. Ed has a bead on this from what I have been reading.
Cortez was to draw out out the Lefty Presidential candidates, first the wall, then her nonsensical Socialist rants which of course the candidates were required to take a position. Who is behind this?
Now they are done with Cortez. This the first media blitz that she doesn't understand economics... now her boyfriend has a government e-mail account. It has started. She was and is being played, but she doesn't know it. They are about done with her. Sit back and watch the show. Is this the Clinton machine at work?
The wildcard is/was McConnell's desire to get the dems on the record regarding Cortez's proclamation. The Dems are crying foul. Who is on first? it will be interesting to see... my take from this bridge wearing tin foil.

  7. The Conqueror Worm (1843)

    Lo! 'tis a gala night

__ Within the lonesome latter years!

    An angel throng, bewinged, bedight

__ In veils, and drowned in tears,

Sit in a theatre, to see

__ A play of hopes and fears,

    While the orchestra breathes fitfully

__ The music of the spheres.

Mimes, in the form of God on high,

__ Mutter and mumble low,

And hither and thither fly ––

__ Mere puppets they, who come and go

At bidding of vast formless things

__ That shift the scenery to and fro,

Flapping from out their Condor wings

__ Invisible Woe!

That motley drama –– oh, be sure

__ It shall not be forgot!

With its Phantom chased for evermore,

__ By a crowd that seize it not,

Through a circle that ever returneth in

__ To the self-same spot,

And much of Madness, and more of Sin,

__ And Horror the soul of the plot.

But see, amid the mimic rout

__ A crawling shape intrude!

A blood-red thing that writhes from out

__ The scenic solitude!
It writhes! ––
it writhes! –– with mortal pangs

__ The mimes become its food,

And seraphs sob at vermin fangs

__ In human gore imbued.

Out- out are the lights –– out all!

__ And, over each quivering form,

    The curtain, a funeral pall,
__
Comes down with the rush of a storm,

While the angels, all pallid and wan,
__
    Uprising, unveiling, affirm

That the play is the tragedy, "Man,"

__ And its hero the Conqueror Worm.

~ Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849)

    1. That's how things work in a constitutional democratic republic. We'll all get over it when we're dead and gone. In other words the baton is being gradually passed to another generation. It IS as it has ALWAYS been. OR, the more things change the more they stay the same, OR, there is nothing new under the sun.

  11. What you are all overlooking is the possibility that Amazon got down to the nitty gritty of costing this out and saw that it didn't make sense.

So they decided to back out. The benefits of locating in America's financial center weren't worth the cost.

I didn't overlook that at all. What I am looking at is AOC's apparent conviction that she and her warriors defeated the corporate entity Amazon.

I do not see her as omnipotent. I do see her as having an overinflated sense of self-esteem.

  15. There are differences between socialism and communism, but each of these are mostly packaged and marketed in a way to appeal to those who subscribe to this central understanding: more government, less individual liberty. It was none other than Lenin who instructed his followers, “The purpose of socialism is communism.” One is the mechanism for achieving the other. And it goes to this core issue: how easily are people fooled into supporting one or the other? This is no time for true Americans to fall asleep. My guess is that AO-C (as but one among many) who doesn’t understand but a fraction of what is at stake.

    1. The problem with socialism is that even if you vote the socialists out, they'll disband the sectors of government they no longer control and change the constitution to appoint only supporters. Socialism cannot abide with democracy. It can only devolve into tyranny.

Because all were devised and supported by CENTRALIZED POWER –– the desire to DOMINATE, SUBJUGATE, RESTRICT and STIFLE anyone and allthoughts that do not CONFORM to whatever "ethos" currently prevails.
