For Caturday — and the rest of the weekend...
Like Cameo, Minxy (b. 9-8-2017) is not camera shy:
January 23, 2019 |
Minxy is a troublemaker. One of her recent escapades, at 5:45 A.M., was knocking off the bowl of dried beans which had been soaking overnight in preparation for ham and bean soup.
Imperious. Fully-in-charge. Completely at ease on her Royal Divan. Reminisicent of an ancient Roman Empress at the height of her power.
ReplyDeleteYou'd better watch your step, AOW, with such a one in your house. She means to take over completely, and reduce you to servitude in what-was-once your castle –– if she hasn't doe so already.

She sights a Bird — she chuckles —
ReplyDeleteShe flattens — then she crawls —
She runs without the look of feet —
Her eyes increase to Balls —
Her Jaws stir — twitching — hungry —
Her Teeth can hardly stand —
She leaps, but Robin leaped the first —
Ah, Pussy, of the Sand,
The Hopes so juicy ripening —
You almost bathed your Tongue —
When Bliss disclosed a hundred Toes —
And fled with every one —

IT'S STRANGE AND WONDERFUL HOW MISS EMILY SO OFTEN SEEMS TO HAVE KNOWN PEOPLE, PLACES, CREATURES THAT DIDN'T EXIST UNTIL AFTER SHE PASSED AWAY, ISN'T IT? ;-)
5 days to servitude FA, 5 days. That's all it takes for the smallest kitten to wrap the human around her paw.
ReplyDeleteCharming, AOW. What a delightful addition to your home. A bowl of beans soaking is - er - pretty heavy. How'd she do that? Now that you've learned YOUR lesson you'll put them in the oven next time to soak. :)
Anyone who can resist the appeal of a little kitten is inadequately developed, and probably not very nice either.

I can see his personality in his eyes and coloring and my first thought was he is occasionally a bad boy.
ReplyDeleteSorry - Her.

DeleteREPRISE:
ReplyDelete____ To Minxy, Our Beloved Delinquent ____
She’s gray and white with a face like a fox ––
She chews the hamper, then grabs my socks ––
Scampers off to God-knows-where ––
Under the bed or down the stair ––
Behind the sofa, curled in the chair ––
Coating the cushions with gray-white hair ––
Where she might be no one yet knows ––
Hiding herself in the basket of clothes?
Lurking behind the washing machine?
Eager for mischief with the vitrine?
O how she’d love to paw each figurine ––
See it tumble from shelf to floor ––
Just looking –- not touching –– is such a bore.
Our household’s disturbed by this darling marauder
But we can’t correct her. We only applaud her!

2 GOOD 2 BE 4 GOTTEN:
ReplyDelete__________ TO AMBER _________
Who could resist those eyes, pussycat?
Trusting, demanding, eager, beseeching.
We do not know precisely why we find you irresistible.
After all, what do you really do to earn your daily portion?
Keep the mice at bay? Well, maybe, but that's not why
We love you. It's something about your aura of independence
Even though we know how vulnerable you really are.
We'd hate to see your self-esteem damaged.
If anyone hurt or betrayed you, it would certainly damage us.
You just know you are important ––
And we can't help but respond accordingly.
And besides, you have about you an aura of mystery,
And enchantment that makes you uniquely beautiful.
We can never be sure whether you were put on earth
___for our benefit,
______ or the other way 'round,
_________ can we?

Our sweet Amber (b. March 2012) loves Minxy -- when Minxy doesn't play too rough. When Minxy does get too rough, Amber thumps her. Claws always sheathed.
