Yes, I'm home after my kidney surgery of November 21, and back in front of the computer as I'm able to tolerate.

The misery factor is in play, but normal for having undergone a surgery that moved around so many abdominal structures. The ureter has been repaired and the offending artery repositioned.

So much for which to be thankful this Thanksgiving Day 2016!

  4. Wonderful to hear from you. A good sign that the blood stirs as we hear the latest nonsense from Obama :)

    1. Bunkerville,
I am feeling the best I've felt in months! Some of this feeling is the pain meds. But not all of it! Keep praying that the surgeon has solved the underlying problem.

  5. Have as good a day as possible under the circumstances, AOW. Prayers for rapid healing.

    1. Adrienne,
I have pain meds on board, and they are controlling the pain to the extent that I have an appetite. It's been months since I've had an appetite!

    2. WELL, of all days to finally get an appetite back, I'd say THANKSGIVING is the one:)
DELIGHTED to see you feeling at least well enough to comment and EAT!
Keep up the progress, AOW...I know we are all thankful for YOU!

    3. I more or less filled my plate -- a century-old Bavarian China plate willed to me by my paternal grandmother: turkey breast, gravy, stuffing, a tiny portion of cranberries, and a tiny portion of green beans.

I managed to eat almost half. And that is the most food I've been able to eat for at least six months. I might have been able to eat more, but my surgeon warned me not to do so. My gut isn't yet fully awake after the deep anesthesia, and I must be careful not to trigger vomiting. **sigh**

I'm now sipping on ginger ale.

Damn! Have I been ailing, or what?

But, yes, I made a lot of blog rounds today, and I didn't have to push myself to do so. Felt grand!

    1. Yes, there is a lot to be thankful for, but sometimes I lose sight of that reality.

  8. Very happy to see you home from the hospital and functioning again. I know it's been "a long hard slog" for you. It's time now for a complete healing to take place.

Please be patient and do EXACTLY what your doctors tell you to do and NOTHING MORE.

As Thersites said, we have a LOT to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.

    Onward and upward! ;-)

    1. I'm trying to be careful about doing too much. Being sidelined is very difficult for me, and I have no experience at it.

TMW keeps an eye on me and doesn't hesitate to issue scoldings.

  9. So happy to hear, AOW. It sounds like the pain curve is falling - wonderful to look forward to food! Our prayers continue....

    1. A bit early to tell for certain. But the pain I'm having now DOES, so far, have a different quality: more of an achy cramping as opposed to a stabbing cramping.

You're so right about food! It was downright depressing not to enjoy food for all those months on end.

I hope and pray that I've finally reached the turn-around point!

  10. Once a, "MOM", always a, "MOM"! Add in CNA, you got a "problem"...;D
BTW-do you know what, "MOM", stands for? Mean Ol' Mommy! Ask my 2! LOL!

    2. GOOD, TMW. We're all depending in you to ride herd on AOW's choleric spirit, reign in her tendency to do too much too soon and keep her in line until her cure is complete and assured.

I know you're the gal who can do it. Good luck and Happy Days to ALL of you now living in close quarters so near to "The Belly of the Beast!"
