The Left will not enjoy living with its own precedents.

(Addendum: The blog is presently in moderation.)

Beautiful piece of sarcasm at National Review by Kevin D. Williamson.

"Perversely, the Trump presidency is bearing some worthwhile fruit before it even begins: Once more, dissent is the highest form of patriotism, free speech is an absolute right that must be defended at all costs rather than regulated away in the name of reform, presidential power is to be limited, and the anti-war movement on the left, which went silent right around the time the fellow who won the Nobel Peace Prize started assassinating American citizens in extralegal drone strikes, has once again found its voice.

Two cheers for all that."

I'm waiting to see when these so-called "Progressives" start calling themselves "Liberals" again. (or something else)

I'm also heartened to see Chris Christie replaced on President Elect Trump's transition team by Vice President Elect Mike Pence.  VP Elect Pence is a solid Conservative (he used to call himself a recovering lawyer). He has served my home state, Indiana, well as Governor. Its a shame he dropped out of his race for his second term as Governor (which he would have won handily) but he is serving us all in his present position and I believe  a  President Pence would be a boon to the nation as a whole and the Conservative Movement.

Speak quietly. It helps to soothe the nerves.
Yelling –– any harshness –– is abrasive ––
An agitating force no one deserves
    Denying peace, obnoxious and invasive.
Refresh the soul with calm, sweet introspection.
Opening the mind clears out the dross.
    Find serenity under prayer’s direction.
Needs depart, as does the pain of loss,
Only when we lift our thoughts to Heaven.
Images of all that’s bright and clean
Transcend gloom and sagging spirits leaven,
As on the rock of Truth we safely lean.
    Leave resentment, fear, distrust behind;
Endure with patience, and sweet peace you’ll find.

    1. Another way the GOP hates average Americans while they give it all to the wealthy:

"Republicans celebrating the overtime injunction forgot about their new working class base."

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Amos Mazzant of Texas blocked the Obama
administration rule to extend mandatory overtime pay to more than four
million salaried workers. Expected to take effect December 1, the rule
would have doubled the salary limit for overtime eligible employees to
      $47,500 from $23,660.

Paul Ryan's net worth = $566,1038 He's cheering that 187,000 Wisconsinites earning less than $47,476 won't get paid for working overtime

  2. I think Williamson discounts Trumps previous comments in regards to the 1st Amendment, so we'll have to wait and see if dissent truly is regarded as patriotism....as it often ins't by the party on power.

Liberals should become acquainted with the term schadenfreude.

Indeed, there are always surprises so we will have to remain eternally vigilant.

The left seems to have some problems understanding the difference between dissent and violence, thuggery, rioting and intimidation.

    2. Exactly. That's because their dissent is more often tantrums

  3. love the sarcasm...good post, Warren. I really admire Pence and am so glad he's the one by Trump's side. And that he's apparently going to take a bigger role than some VP's have in the daily running of the country.

  4. Z, Pence is a class act. I believe that Pence would actually resign before he would let Trump go too far astray. Pence has said several times that 'I'm a Christian a Conservative and a Republican, in that order'.

  5. I am so pleased with the choice of Pence. I supported him when he first ran for Congress and was picked up by the Madison Project. (yes, we have to go out beyond our California borders to find 'em nowadays.) We need to remember to pray hard for this man. He knows where he stands and stands firm, which makes him a big target of the enemies of our republican (little r) government.

  6. I'm well aware that at this very moment AOW is in hospital about to undergo major surgery –– at the hands of a robot –– within the next hour or two.

I pray all goes well during the procedure, that recovery time will be minimal, and recovery, itself, tens out to be an unqualified success.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the Shadow of Death I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me ...

    1. I never got to see the robot. It was draped in the corner of the OR.

The surgery I had was robot ASSISTED. The surgeons operated the controllers. In other words, not a pre-programmed robot.

  7. I have not a single good feeling about Christie. Put me in the good riddence camp.
