The Iconic Image For the Jihad Attacks On The Boston Marathon

I wasn't going to post the above image here at Always On Watch and, indeed, have waited nearly ten days to do so.  Ever since the jihad attacks on the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013, however, I have been unable to push aside thoughts about those maimed.

Many of those injured will never be able to put behind them what happened that day.  Instead, for the rest of their lives and their families' lives, they will be living with the horrible effects of injuries inflicted by Islamic terrorists.  There are limits to human resilience.

What happened in Boston on April 15, 2013, was a consummate and egregious failure on the part of those charged with the duty of our national security. Add to this grievous failure of human intelligence these words from President Obama (as cited by Bob Woodward in Obama's Wars):
"We can absorb [another] terrorist attack."

  1. I'd never seen ANYTHING remotely like that piece of bone and no flesh...I just realized today, having seen that shot before, that both legs are gone; I suppose this is the fellow who celebrity football players, etc., have been photographed visiting. I hope so. I hope this man made it. And I hope his recovery goes well.
Or maybe he didn't make it because it looks like a blue plastic glove on the pavement in the lower right corner, which would mean medics had been there. And, if they were going to get anybody to the hospital fast, it would have been him. So, is he dead?
    God help us all...........
The injured will never be able to put this behind them. And neither shall we. And we shouldn't.

  2. Z,
I don't know if the man survived.

The image appeared on a jihad portal site and had the words "Ha, ha" as the caption.

  3. There is now a fund for the victims: The One Fund - Boston. So far, most donations have come from corporations, including Bain Capital.

  4. This is just a TINY FRAGMENT of what has been seen routinely on battlefields all over the world since Time Immemorial.

This is what people DO to one another when they are crazed by ideological or religious fanaticism.

This is what institutionalized HATE and POLARIZATION produce.

Why should we be any more shocked and distressed by the horrors of THIS tragic event than by that of many many hundreds of thousands of others?

What do you think John Donne MEANT when he wrote, "Ask not for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for THEE?

  5. FT,
Why should we be any more shocked and distressed by the horrors of THIS tragic event than by that of many many hundreds of thousands of others?

Because it happened here on our homeland soil and not on a battlefield.

I am concerned that Americans are going to accept this new reality of having the battlefield in our cities, in our stadiums, in our schools, on our streets, etc.

Also, it is becoming clearer and clearer that the failure of human intelligence in the case of the jihad attack on the Boston Marathon should not have happened.

Now we see on the news that the Ricin arrest could well have been another failure. If it turns out that the man originally arrested had zero to do with the ricin attacks. we need to realize that his life has probably been ruined by another failure that should never have happened. I wonder if he lost his job? No matter what, the shadow of suspicion will forever hover over him, IMO.

WHO ARE THE ACTUAL VICTIMS OF THE JIHAD ATTACKS ON THE BOSTON MARATHON?

  7. Wow:

Marathon bombings mastermind Tamerlan Tsarnaev was living on taxpayer-funded state welfare benefits even as he was delving deep into the world of radical anti-American Islamism, the Herald has learned....

    [...]

In addition, both of Tsarnaev’s parents received benefits, and accused brother bombers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan were recipients through their parents when they were younger, according to the state.

The news raises questions over whether Tsarnaev financed his radicalization on taxpayer money....

  8. The despicable left and their comments are almost as bad as the attack. I hope someone does a montage of the inane and idiotic statements. There was a time we would all pull together.

That is how the control freaks take advantage of any crisis.

  11. Home soil has become the battlefield, AOW. An Imam in your neighborhood has declared Jihad upon all Americans. Of course, we cannot simply arrest the man because everyone has a right to free speech ...

Well, not all free speech. Death or injury resulting from some nitwit yelling “Fire” in a theater could be prosecuted. I suppose this means we’ll have to wait and see if anyone accepts the Imam’s challenge.

Still, should we strip this person of his citizenship and deport his sorry ass?

On the issue of declaring Jihad, doesn't this Imam really threaten more than our physical safety? Doesn't he also threaten our right to live our lives unmolested by Big Brother? Doesn’t he threaten our Bill of Rights by encouraging morons like George Bush to enact the so-called Patriot Act? Do we really need MORE cameras on the street corners and police officers violating the civil rights of our citizens by placing them under House Arrest?

  13. I think Free Thinke has the right idea. Let's just stop pussy-footing around with this topic, shall we? I don't see Norwegians terrorizing the bejesus out of an entire city. I don't see Germans flying planes into tall buildings. I don't see Spaniards hiding explosives in their underwear.

Well, I guess Obama's promises have come true. By refusing to call terrorism what it is, he most certainly has made a fundamental change to the United States of America.

Now I heard a rumor that once he's moved out of the White House (at the end of his fifth term), local Imams want to make the White House into a victory mosque.

  14. MORE DRONE STRIKES !!!!

    Don't let this happen again.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Drone strikes are an insult to America’s warrior ethos; moreover, they are proof that our diplomatic efforts are awash in incompetence. Moreover, a nation that will use drone strikes against villages of goat herders will not hesitate to use them against the folks back home.

  16. The whole idea of using drones and robots to fight our wars runs against my grain. As far as using drones at home to save us from the boogey man, I have to go with Benjamin Franklin’s take: “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

  17. More on the failure of those charged with the duty of our national security (from the Boston Globe):

Russia contacted US government ‘multiple’ times

Russian authorities alerted the US government not once but ``multiple’’ times over their concerns about Tamerlan Tsarnaev -- including a second time nearly a year after he was first interviewed by FBI agents in Boston -- raising new questions about whether the FBI should have focused more attention on the suspected Boston Marathon bomber, according to US senators briefed on the probe Tuesday.

The FBI has previously said it interviewed Tsarnaev in early 2011 after it was initially contacted by the Russians. After that review, the FBI has said, it determined he did not pose a threat.

In a closed briefing on Tuesday, members of the Senate Intelligence Committee learned that Russia alerted the United States about Tsarnaev in ``multiple contacts’’...

    [...]

Senators said the briefing also revealed failures among federal agencies to share vital information about Tsarnaev, indicating, they said, that the US government still has not established a strong system to ``connect the dots’’ about would-be terrorists residing in America more than a decade after 9/11....

  18. The man survived. He is Jeff Bauman, age 27. A man at the scene, Carlos Arredondo, pinched his severed artery closed with his fingers, found a nearby wheelchair and rolled Jeff to an ambulance. When Jeff came to in the hospital, he asked for a pen and paper to write a description of the man who dropped the bag containing the bomb, which helped the police identify the suspects. Jeff worked at Costco. He is home now with his family, having lost both legs below the knee. Arredondo is a fast- thinking hero.

  19. FT and Sam, I really need your help.
I was walking in the 'hood today and walked by a park with a ball game going on. There were Muslim women with children in strollers in the crowd. i didn't know what to do. What was the proper protocol?

    1. Run, since you don't carry a personal firearm.

    2. Call Homeland Security.

    3. Rough them up.

    4. Insist on searching the strollers for explosives.

Please advise since you guys are really aware.

  20. The Netherlands to Abandon Multiculturalism, dated January 2013:

The Dutch government says it will abandon the long-standing model of multiculturalism that has encouraged Muslim immigrants create a parallel society within the Netherlands ...

    [...]

With this change, the government steps away from the model of a multicultural society.

The letter continues: “A more obligatory integration is justified because the government also demands that from its own citizens.

It is necessary because otherwise the society gradually grows apart and eventually no one feels at home anymore in the Netherlands ...

    [...]

[I]mmigrants will be required to learn the Dutch language and the government will take a tougher approach to immigrants who ignore Dutch values or disobey Dutch law.”

The government will also stop offering special subsidies for Muslim immigrants...

The government...will also impose tougher measures against Muslim immigrants who lower their chances of employment by the way they dress....

    [...]

Holland has...realized...that creating a nation of tribes will kill the nation itself....

  24. Duck,
You could always check with Bob Beckel:

Liberal Democrat strategist and commentator, and Fox News regular, Bob Beckel must have shocked his liberal pals on the Georgetown cocktail circuit to the core when he said, “…we’re going to have to cut off Muslim students from coming to this country for some period of time so that we can at least absorb what we got, look at what we’ve got, and decide whether some of the people here should be sent back home or sent to prison.”

  25. It's a difficult picture to look at but an important reminder about the reality of these attacks.

As I said in a previous comment the Obama Muslim deniers want to downplay these attacks and refer to the Benghazi attack as something that "happened a long time ago." But not so for the victims.

The photo I used from Boston was the moment before the bomb showing Dzokhar (spelling?) walking away after putting the bomb behind the Richard family with poor eight year old Martin standing on the fence:
