Media Not Trustworthy
By Sam Huntington
According to Gallup, six in ten Americans express little or no confidence in the accuracy or integrity of media news reporting. Gallup thinks this is important because the revelation comes at a time when Americans rely on media to understand political platforms and perceptions of the presidential candidates. One wonders how media can be important when most people question its objectivity.
Republicans and independents distrust the media most, leaving democrats and communists willing to give a blind eye to media biases. Gallup tells us that since this poll, enthusiasm among democrats for voting increased significantly. Really? Now we are wondering how objective Gallup is.
Nevertheless, the Gallup data is interesting. Check it out.

The Double Edged Sword
We are engaged in "Saigon in slow motion," as Tammy Swofford opined in Pakistan's Daily Times on August 18, 2012, well before the filmifada.
A taste of the essay:
Consider the September 23, 2012 video below the fold (Apologies for the commercial that may air at the beginning):
A taste of the essay:
It is pleasant to consider that the Pentagon remembers the lessons of the past, those learned in Vietnam. It is where the US military first put a ‘win hearts and minds’ paradigm into play. Vietnam was the initial military laboratory for a two-pronged foreign engagement for a regional conflict that sought to beat back communism whilst also making our policies palatable within a distinct cultural setting.Read Tammy Swofford's entire essay HERE. Worth your time.
Military planners have also sought the same in Afghanistan...
[...]
As we wind down in Afghanistan, there will not be a defining ‘win’, rather a lot of spin. This may not be Saigon. But it is Saigon in slow motion for the families receiving back their dead, killed in such manner as meted out in Afghanistan.

More Devolving
Devolving into what, I'm not exactly sure. Absurdity, certainly.
From this article (hat tip to Chuck Thinks Right):
From this article (hat tip to Chuck Thinks Right):
Oregon Principal Claims That Peanut Butter And Jelly Sandwiches Might Be Racist
Portland, OR – Elementary school principal Verenice Gutierrez suggested that peanut butter and jelly sandwiches might be racist and culturally offensive during an interview with the Portland Tribune....We now live in a world that is so politically correct, that what we eat for lunch might offend others dining at the same table. The Harvey Scott K-8 administrator was discussing the district’s equity training program which was created to lessen the achievement gap, when comparing the popular lunchbox staple to potential racism.
The Oregon principal “picks up on the subtle language of racism” every day, and used the seemingly innocent looking peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to illustrate her point, according to Fox News.
Verenice Gutierrez had this to say about the allegedly offensive bread spread:
“Another way would be to say, Americans eat peanut butter and jelly, do you have anything like that. Let them tell you. Maybe they eat torta or pita. What about Somali or Hispanic students, who might not eat sandwiches?”
The district’s equity program is entitled, “Courageous Conversation” and it is designed to take educators on a journey through an intense course so they can understand their own white privilege...

A Threatening Brotherhood, Part II
by Sam Huntington
Who are the Salafists? They are an enigma because while the word suggests moderate, Salafists are actually among the most violent of the Sunni movement, which includes Wahhabism. It is literalist and puritanical Islam. Salafist is a word recently developed as part of the pretense suggesting moderation among the Muslim Brotherhood. The term also describes Palestinian groups Jaish al Islam and Jaish al Umma. Salafism is an Egyptian invention, and here’s how it happened:

A Threatening Brotherhood, Part I
by Sam Huntington
The west, it seems, has never found an effective way of dealing with Semitic peoples, other than utter ruthlessness and barbarity, which to date has only yielded us a temporary result. Part of this can be explained by the fact that most westerners do not understand who or what it is they are dealing with, which suggests that on occasion, our friend Damien Charles does have a point. If we seek to understand the Middle East, then we must evaluate Arab culture and Islam: they are predominant factors explaining why the Middle Eastern people are living in the far distant past.
Let’s begin with these facts: Most Arabs are Muslims.

Gasping Here
I work a heavy schedule on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Yet, no matter how tired I am or how much "school work" I have to do, every day after I get home from work, I head to the computer to check on the day's news.
Since early Wednesday morning on September 12, I've been reading news stories that take my breath away.
I find it impossible to believe that Obama doesn't understand the significance of what's transpiring in the Middle East right now.
I've come to the conclusion that Obama approves of and wants these events to occur. In other words, he's doing exactly what he wants to do in the present situation.
I have come to this conclusion after reading THIS a few minutes ago.

Breaking News: Is It 1979 Again?
Fruits of the Arab spring: U.S. Libyan Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, one of the first Americans on the ground in Benghazi and a man who was trying to help Libya lay the foundations for a free nation, and three other embassy staff assassinated in Libya when the U.S. consulate was attacked.
Some basic information about the 1979 Iranian Revolution
Just yesterday, on the eleventh anniversary of 9/11, the United States Embassy apologized for freedom of expression after the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, was overrun, the American flag taken down, and the black flag of jihad raised.

Never Forget
Even if you don't care for Bruce Springsteen, please listen to these two songs from The Rising, a collection of songs that he composed in response to 9/11:
(the story behind The Rising)
The passage of time helps to assuage grief, but nothing ever completely wipes away grief – especially when a loved one is murdered. I know because, over forty years ago, I lost a beloved family member to murder just a few days before a family reunion.
Never forget.
To forget is to desecrate the memory of the nearly 3000 who perished that day and to betray America herself.

Never forget exactly who committed the vile deeds on 9/11 (Please watch the video timeline!) in the name of Allah and who still commit such murders in the name of Allah.
Never forget.
To forget is to desecrate the memory of the nearly 3000 who perished that day and to betray America herself.

The first week of the school term is always grueling.
But I have to say that I am posting joyous music today precisely because this past week has brought into my classes many powerhouse students, both previous students and new students.
In fact, one fifth-grade girl new to the homeschool group ended her introduction of herself with these words, music to my heart: "I love a challenge"! She means those words, too. When the day started, she was enrolled in only one class; by day's end, her mother had enrolled her a second class.

The Banking Flap
by Sam Huntington
Banking and Finance is awfully difficult to understand for most people, and that complexity probably explains why no one understands banking and finance. In fact, I have often wondered if they didn’t purposely make it complicated because that way, it is easier to pull the wool over our eyes.
Still, there is a flap going on between the United States and foreign banks. The issue is whether some banks are ignoring US sanctions against Iran. One of these banks is British owned Standard Charter. The flap began when the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) threatened to cancel its state banking license. Why? Because according to the State of New York, Standard Charter has “gone rogue,” and has decided to ignore US sanctions on Iran.

Inside Report: The DNC
by Sam Huntington
Our insiders at the Democratic National Convention tell us Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is in a snit (again). Once more determined to include a major supporter of global terrorism at the dais during the nominating convention, Jimmy Carter nevertheless turned down the invitation and instead will deliver a previously recorded, heavily edited address on opening night. Carter, 87, hasn’t issued a cogent public statement since 1979 when he told the Iranian government, “You better stop it.”

Quote Of The Day (from RNC 2012)
Clint Eastwood, who has a new film due for release on September 21:
You, we — we own this country. We — we own it. It is not you owning it, and not politicians owning it. Politicians are employees of ours. And — so — they are just going to come around and beg for votes every few years. It is the same old deal. But I just think it is important that you realize, that you’re the best in the world. Whether you are a Democrat or Republican or whether you’re libertarian or whatever, you are the best. And we should not ever forget that. And when somebody does not do the job, we got to let them go.
