Ilhan Omar: Lying Social Justice Warrior

Ilhan Omar

Not the first such lying social justice warrior, of course.

From Ilhan Omar Admits Lying to High School Students: Omar told a fake story to illustrate 'American racism, cruelty and injustice' (dated July 8, 2019):
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) admitted to flubbing the facts of an anecdote she told a large group of students to illustrate the "racism, cruelty, and injustice" she's seen in America since being accepted as a refugee more than two decades ago.

The freshman representative told 400 high school students she was sent to a Minneapolis courtroom where she witnessed a "sweet, old … African American lady" who spent the weekend in jail for stealing a $2 loaf of bread to feed her "starving 5-year-old granddaughter," according to the Washington Post. Omar says she screamed "Bullshit!" in the court room after the woman was fined $80 for the crime.

"I couldn’t control my emotions," Omar told the crowd, "because I couldn’t understand how a roomful of educated adults could do something so unjust."

The Post had several pieces of evidence indicating Omar was not entirely truthful about this experience.

"Omar’s story echoed the plot of ‘Les Miserables.' If true, it is also probably embellished," wrote Greg Jaffe and Souad Mekhennet, the author's of the Post‘s article.

"City officials said that police aren’t allowed to arrest people for shoplifting unless there’s a likelihood of violence or further crime. Typically, shoplifters are sentenced to attend a three-hour class."

Asked about the story, Omar admitted "she may have flubbed some facts," Jaffe and Mekhennet wrote.

"She might have had a prior [arrest]," Omar told the Post. "I’m not sure…The details might not have all matched, but that’s what I remember."

Omar has also been dinged recently by the Post and others for "botched basic facts" during her attempts to "go viral."

"Recently, she told a group of veterans that about 45 percent of military families rely on food stamps," Jaffe and Mekhennet wrote. "She was trying to make the point that Republicans didn’t care for the troops. The actual number is less than 5 percent, according to Pentagon statistics."
One of the problems of such lies is that the retractions thereof do not reach the audience lied to.

      Failure to inculcate awareness of Right and Wrong, –– Resect for one's Elders, –– an Undestanding that cultivating the Imagination and reverence for Wisdom is more important than the mere Acquisition of sterile Knowledge ––, and fervent belief in Virtue as the Highest Good in our young – is certain to produce a cynical, corrupt, depraved, hard-hearted society.

      "Straining out gnats while s while swallowing camels," which is what hidebound ethicists, who can't see the forest for the trees, tend to do, is of little use in building the best of all possible worlds.

      Morbid preoccupation with petty, literalistic concerns is the province of small, mean minds, and seldom-if-ever aids in moving a society toward greatness.

      Disruption can be valuable, but when it's rooted in intellectual ignorance, a lack of integrity and an appeal to base emotion, it's no better than the status quo. In fact, it's no different tactically, than that of Leftists.

      We should be better than that. We should hold our standard bearers to not just a minimum standard...but a higher standard than opponents. But that requires integrity. A precious commodity today.

  3. A Great Irony most with a dour, unimagunative, hard-hearted, legalistic turn of mind are sure to miss:

    We zealously and mindlessly pursue the Dream of Ridding our Society of Ilegal Aliens, many –– probably MOST –– of whom are decent, hard working, clean living people, making a solid contribution to our society by performing highly useful tasks unstintingly and wholeheartedly, while we feel OBLIGATED to PUT UP a putrid piece of Human Excrement like this vicious, pushy, obnoxious, ungrateful, utterly CONTEMPTIBLE BLACK BITCH, Ilhan Omar, simply because, –– probably on some sort of FLUKE ––, this foul piece of baggage has obtained LEGAL STATUS as a U.S. CITIZEN.

    Her odious presence in our midst hs made a MOCKERY of legal Citizenship Status, and turned it into CitizenSHIT.

    There OUGHT to be a PROVISION concerning "Naturalized Citizens" that permits us summarily to DEPORT THEM back to their countries of origin, IF they FAIL to EMBRACE and SUPPORT the customs, mores and NATIVE culture of these United States, and to show RESPECT for the dominant religion of this country, which is still CHRISTIANITY the last time I looked.

    The United States of America should NEVER allow herself to be USED as a DUMPING GROUND for the most wretched specimens of humanity on earth. Our purpose never has been –– and never should be –– to be used and regarded as the World's Waste Processing Plant.

    I'd even go so far as to support an Amendment to the Constitution that makes REVOCATION of CITIZENSHIP M_A_N_D_A_T_O_R_Y for those guilty of TREASON. I'm thinking of people like Adam Gedahn and Taliban Johnny, of course, and human turds like Angela Davis, Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Amy Goodman, and all their filthy ilk.

    I'm only advocating policies JOHN ADAMS, –– dubbed the Colossus of Liberty by his fellow Founders ––, and the Federalist-dominated congress of his day put in place with the Alienaton and Sedition Acts of 1798.

    1. FROM WIKIEDIA:

      The Alien and Sedition Acts were four laws passed by the Federalist-dominated 5th United States Congress and signed into law by President John Adams in 1798. They made it harder for an immigrant to become a citizen (Naturalization Act), allowed the president to imprison and deport non-citizens who were deemed dangerous (Alien Friends Act of 1798) or who were from a hostile nation (Alien Enemy Act of 1798), and criminalized making false statements that were critical of the federal government (Sedition Act of 1798).

      The Federalists argued that the bills strengthened national security during the Quasi-War, an undeclared naval war with France from 1798 to 1800. Critics argued that they were primarily an attempt to suppress voters who disagreed with the Federalist party and its teachings, and violated the right of freedom of speech in the First Amendment.

      The Naturalization Act increased the residency requirement for American citizenship from five to fourteen years. At the time, the majority of immigrants supported Thomas Jefferson and the Democratic-Republicans, the political opponents of the Federalists.

      The Alien Friends Act allowed the president to imprison or deport aliens considered "dangerous to the peace and safety of the United States" at any time, while the Alien Enemies Act authorized the president to do the same to any male citizen of a hostile nation above the age of fourteen during times of war.

      Lastly, the controversial Sedition Act restricted speech that was critical of the federal government. Under the Sedition Act, the Federalists allowed people who were accused of violating the sedition laws to use truth as a defense.

      The Sedition Act resulted in the prosecution and conviction of many Jeffersonian newspaper owners who disagreed with the government.

      The acts were denounced by Democratic-Republicans and ultimately helped them to victory in the 1800 election, when Thomas Jefferson defeated the incumbent, President Adams. . . .

In what's truly an epic Twitter-event, the president tells Omar and AOC that they'd do better to "go back" to the country they came from."So interesting to see 'Progressive' Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, . . .

  7. The even-handed whataboutism false equivalency becomes tiresome.

    President Donald J. Trump is a know quantity, with all his vulgarities and deviousness exposed. He has also notched some accomplishments and sent the status quo running and squealing in all directions.

    The articles and comment forums that examine his every flamboyant act and excoriate him for them are legion.

    This article is about Rep Omar. If the author were to weight every article like this with comparative mendacity, cupidity, etc of someone from the other side of the political spectrum, it would render the content tedious and unreadable.

    It would be a positive development if people could stick to the topic of the blog post.

    9. Jez,
      Perhaps this essay will explain a bit:

      How Trump Is Uniting Democrats.

      Note the concluding paragraph:

      While much of the mainstream media will declare that Trump’s words were racist, the fact of the matter is they express the resentment many Americans feel for being labeled by the elites in this country as “wrong” or “backwards” for being proud of our country, its founding, its history, and its laws. It is not racist to demand that America’s borders are secured and our laws are respected. It is not racist to declare that someone who enters this country illegally is by definition an illegal alien, or that anyone who enters should first love this country. Now, a majority of Democrats are once again seen actively defending those extreme leftists whose aim is to fundamentally change America into a socialist nation.

      Delete
    10. Jez,
      In support of the above, from this essay by a former no-Trumper:

      Many, many of the concerns I had about President Trump in 2016 have been addressed by him and his administration through sound public policy. No candidate and no administration is perfect and I will continue to speak up when I disagree. But President Trump offers a vision for the United States with a strong economic record to back it up. The Democrats offer attempted mass assassinations of Republicans, fire bombings of immigration facilities, Mexican flags replacing American flags, the harvesting and selling of chidren’s body parts, the continued destruction of our healthcare system, the championing of lawlessness, and open persecution of people of faith by government bureaucrats.

      It's going to be a wild ride until Election 2020.

      Delete
    11. That "open persecution of people of faith by government bureaucrats" is not limited to one party.

      I get the emotional appeal of the excerpt, it works on who it was designed for, but it's the classic one man v. faceless crowd argument., pretending that counterparts on the opposing side advocate for what is projected. It doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

      The one certain truth within, is that indeed Trump does have a strong economic vision. I may not agree with all facets of it, but it's there.

      Delete
    12. But most truthfully...it will surely be a wild ride....

    13. I'm not impressed by his trade wars and disingenuous dismissal of environmental concerns, and any economic gains made as a result of those positions are illusory.

      Delete
    14. Jez, there is a purpose behind the "trade wars."

      We've allowed China to rip us off for decades, steal our technology and shake down companies that do business there. Granted, the greedy corporations have no scruples supporting dictatorial regimes around the world and making money helping them suppress their own people and profiting from the slave labor they offer, but then, corporations squatting here in the US are not "American;" they are world citizens.

      We provided an opportunity for China to join world organizations and act responsibly. They have not. I don't want war with them, but China is not our friend.

      Businesses are leaving China and supply chains are being broken and remake, spreading the business around the world that all used to go to China, and that's a good thing. A pure capitalist would say its bad because splintered supply chains that connect to many different country are not as profitable and efficient as one grand superhighway supply chain connected to a totalitarian nation offering slave labor, but that is why I broke years ago with "conservatives" blabbering about "free market capitalism."

      Environmental concerns? You mean the globalist evangelists demanding we return to an 1850's log cabin era (while the elites get to hold on to their luxury homes and jet airplanes?)

      I can think of many environmental issues more important than absurd and hubristic arguments over what temperature humankind should set the earth's thermostat to.

      * Loss of habitat
      * Plastics
      * Herbicides
      * Pesticides
      * Potable water

      See, the issues I raise involve facts, logic, reason, and clear-eyed trade-offs, because there are no magic bullets.

      The Climate Change screamers, with their hockey sticks, fudged numbers, deterministic and biased models, and trail of failed prophesies, can pack it in a go to hell. They have damaged their credibility.

      Society has devolved into millions of people congratulating one another for all thinking and mouthing the same correct thing.

      Do you disbelieve the notion that China will put hooks and backdoors into the West's 5G network via Huwawai equipment?

      I understand Europeans bristling at US government arrogance, but the knee-jerk is childish. I could understand the sniffy disdain for the US if we hadn't stepped in, protected you, and bailed you out on a few historic occasions, the last being the Balkans in the 1990s.

      I disagree with Bush's Iraq war, but Europe's raw, bald-faced economic calculus of surreptitiously buying oil from Saddam while we were enforcing no-fly zones probably figured into Bush-Cheney's tragic decision. Europe now turns to coddle the Iranian terror mullahs.

      We all have our faults, but the big question is, will Europe grow up before it fades into irrelevance?

    17. I have no special insight into 5G tech, but it feels like a plausible accusation. (Similarly, it feels plausible that American or British telcoms companies might cooperate with the FBI or MI5.) But I notice that Trump is happy to put Huawei prominently on the table for a future US-China trade deal -- he's treating it as a bargaining chip. That's what I object to.

      Please don't take my criticism of Trump as any kind of assumption of European superiority -- if you think we were up to no good during the '90s, you should see the kind of shenanigans we were mixed up with before then. More to the point, we're about to install Boris Johnson as PM! Now there's a deeply flawed individual -- he'll give Trump a run for his russian-mafia-loaned casino-laundered money.

Given a perfect oppurtunity to blow that theory up, not only did Ilhan Omar refuse to deny she supports the terror group and communism, but she made matters worse for herself and her party by dancing around the question with “I will not dignify that with an answer.” Bad move Ilhan Omar.
