  2. Same idiotic gun control narratives that we always hear, in the SOTU. Tired and false then......tired and false now.

    2. Not sure a speech praising the Ukrainian resistance to Russian invaders is the best place to mock the need for high capacity magazines. Just sayin'.

    3. And just like that, the context of a SOTUA must stand to scrutiny? Who'd ever thunk it?

But for those who didn't stick around for the entire show, you missed Rep. Mangohead Taylor Greene heckle the President with "build the wall". But it got worse when her fellow coo-coo-for-coco-puffs Rep. Lauren Boebert heckled the President while he was honoring fallen American solders in Afghanistan. Aside from how inaccurate and disrespectful the heckling was, it demonstrates how far down the gutter things have gone.

Thinking back to when Rep Joe Wilson found it clever to yell "You Lie!!" (even though Obama was right and Wilson was wrong), it drew quick criticism from members of his own party. He apologized that very evening and still later received a formal rebuke for a “breach of decorum and degraded the proceedings of the joint session, to the discredit of the House”. While not all of his party voted for the rebuke, to my knowledge, not a single 1 ever defended him.

In fairness, Sen. John Thune (R) did condemned Boebert and Greene conduct this morning and said:

“I don’t think there’s any place for that. It’s inappropriate. A State of the Union speech, whether you agree with the president or not, is an opportunity to show the American people the respect that the office deserves."

      I'm wondering if he's a lone wolf.

    4. @Ronald - All SOTU's are nothing more than a political circus. It's theater, where partisans have yet another opportunity to praise or scold the speaker based on their party affiliation.

It's a vaudeville act from the speaker to the audience...and is an extravagant illustration of federal waste, fraud and abuse.

    5. The biggest disappointment for me was that Biden didn't pause the SOTU address to do a Presidential Medal of Freedom ceremony for the cop that shot Ashli Babbitt. Other than that, it had the entertainment and rewatch value of snail calligraphy.

    6. Boebert was in the chorus, but it in no way disrespected any fallen soldiers. BTW, Biden was not honoring soldiers with that comment, he was talking about the burn pits.

I was very happy to see that Biden had specifically mentioned the burn pits, including the blood burn pit, which I had the pleasure of inhaling while I was over there. I'm glad to see this actually getting some real recognition

    10. ‘One being stationed at bases, breathing in toxic smoke from burn pits. Many of you have been there. I’ve been in and out of Iraq and Afghanistan over 40 times. These burn pits that incinerate waste, the waste of war — medical and hazardous material, jet fuel and so much more. And they came home, many of the world’s fittest and best trained warriors in the world, never the same. Headaches. Numbness. Dizziness. A cancer that would put them in a flag-draped coffin. I know. One of those soldiers was my son Maj. Beau Biden.”
      —-President Biden

“You put them in, 13 of them.”
      ——Rep Lauren Boebert

Specifically, Boebert was addressing 13 American solders in flag-draped coffins in response to Biden’s 2nd to last statement of the above quote which was a clear reflection of the dangers and deadly results the American solders.

    11. I with Biden had had to respond to BUILD THE WALL! he spent approx 2 minutes on the border...and spoke of letting MORE refugees in than the 2 million illegals so far....just in one year. What an easy presidency he has and how easy a speech: PROMISE EVERYTHING FREE!........All those other presidents who actually worked at controlling budgets, keeping our taxes down, encouraging profit (Biden does not)...they worked so hard...and for what? Look how many voters Biden gets with YOU'LL GET IT FREE! They believe that :-)

    12. Specifically, Boebert was addressing 13 American solders.....

It'd have been nice if politicians would have given a damn about the other 2,447 U.S. servicemembers killed in Afghanistan....

    13. CI, like you so aptly said, it's all political vaudeville, from all sides. The troops are nothing more than propaganda props to most of the political establishment

    15. Well SF, the SOTUA has always been a political opportunity for the duly elected President to have a political podium. Nothing new here.

I can’t help remember, nor will I ever forget, how in a SOTUA, GWB invoked Saddam Hussein’s “rape rooms” as a justification for attacking Iraq (which was meritless on it’s face) all while never mentioning the Sudan governmental militia Janjaweed traveling camelback pulling babies from screaming mother’s arms to toss into bon fires or that hiding families would send their daughters out at night for firewood because they would only be gangraped and their noses cut off in shame rather than their young sons being murdered on the spot.

But I’m reasonably sure my comment pertained to the decorum the today’s so-called conservatives have abandoned .

    16. I was only pointing out where she interjected, and I've already said she was indecorous. She piped up when he said flag draped coffins, and the Biden responded by invoking his departed son.

      The order is important.

  3. I watched three minutes of the SOTU, if that.
I had forgotten I’d have to look at Harris and Pelosi and I just couldn’t take it.
I didn't expect to be informed, only entertained.
    I wasn't.

    1. Ed,
Pretty much the same for me. After a few minutes, I decided to take a nap.

PS: the adoring expressions on Pelosi's face were surreal. Talk about a sycophant! Sheesh.

    2. Like I said below AOW, I did not watch. This morning I watch sound bites of the SOTU on Fox News. You are right Pelosi's face was "surreal." Honestly, I think she was tanked - she typically is.

    3. Oh, and the soundbite I saw of Schummer was disgusting too. The "STEPFORD" dem's of congress and sentate.

    4. interestingly, Harris and Pelosi didn't even look at each other until approx an hour and ten minutes into the speech when one asked the other a question, got an answer, and then they didn't lock eyes again.

  6. I did not watch the SOTU. I figured I could get all the recaps off Fox News, and we all know there is nothing that man has to say that is true or relevant.

  7. I listened to the whole thing and here is what I think about it... It's ALL BS All he did was double down down on CRT and "Build Back Better" without mentioning them by name. He also waved the BLOODY SHIRT in some kind of stupid attempt to "refocus" attention on environmental/global warming concerns. It was a stretch and stupid!

    1. I really don't know how you could bare it, Warren. I barely could watch the clips on Fox News. He is pathetic and Bunkerville has a snippet of Twitter where he mispronounced Ukraine saying Ukranan or something like that and Harris mouthing behind him Ukraine.

      Delete
    2. Warren, I figured that, with a blog, I should watch, too...and I wanted to see it so I could judge the Lefty Tlaib's rebuttal, which I missed totally...I have no idea when she did it...but I was waiting!
All it was was LIES....we'll build cars! SURE! (oh, but the chips are Chinese made) Everything's FREE FREE FREE and we won't have to pay a thing! (Who IS paying for childcare, free college, cheap meds ..which can't be so cheap since they come from China now, too) ...etc etc etc. Then he says "The Iranian people" instead of "Ukrainian people"....Pelosi was about to jump out of her wits with joy and did once, off script, I guess, so she had to rub her little hands together for some reason...then Schumie jumped up, looked around, and saw he'd misread the Dem script, too........Oh, the cheering was deafening...they were PRIMED and PROMPTED. But Joe sounds so LOVING, so RIGHT, so GOOD, so PATRIOTIC to just GIVE THINGS AWAY! What an easy way to be president! Don't worry...just promise EVERYTHING. Very hard to watch and know so many people buy it :-(

    3. Elizabeth, I didn't actually watch it but I listened to the whole thing. The main thought running through my head was; I wish they would hold the applause until the speech is over.
It's just a dog and pony show, all STOTU speeches are and I usually don't bother to listen to any of them and I wouldn't have listened to this SOTU if AOW hadn't turned the TV on.

    4. Z, Once you realize that all nations borders are inviolate --except for ours-- and you twist your head and squint eye and close the other while wearing earplugs, standing on one foot while patting your belly and rubbing your head-- it all makes sense, sort of. --Did I mention whistling the black national anthem?--

    5. Warren, that is too funny. I could not stomach listening, and this morning listened on Fox and even then, I was sickened. It is a "dog and pony show." Perfect analogy for it.

    6. Biden's SOTU address is similar to the fourth Matrix movie in that those who didn't watch have the most accurate reviews of it.

  8. I watched just long enough to see him make his first three points, all of which were about the war in Ukraine.

    1. We honor the Ukraine for standing up to the evil Putin and will cheer for them with every ounce of breath we can find in our collective body. We are so happy that you she destroyed all of his tanks, shot down all of his airplanes, and killed all of his soldiers, and we will continue to cheer with you throughout the long and ongoing days of danger as you fight for your very survival.

    2. We are sending lots of troops to Europe, but not one single soldier will cross the border into Ukraine and help you defeat the "Scourge Of The World" that is trying to destroy your nation. We will cheer from nearby, though.

    3. If the "Embodiment of Evil" crosses your border and tries to hurt any other nation, any nation EXCEPT Ukraine, our troops will fight to the death to defeat the "Modern Genghis Kahn." Everywhere, to repeat for clarity, EXCEPT Ukraine.

For some reason, the ambassador from Ukraine was smiling, bowing and thanking everyone profusely. Perhaps she doesn't speak English very well. Anyway, at that point I switched to watching tow trucks on the Alaska highway.

    3. Let's pretend for a moment that we lived in a universe where Donald Trump was capable of both having coherent thoughts and articulating them. Maybe the sky is purple there, and the Detroit Lions have won the last 42 Super Bowls. Imagine.

Now, in this imaginary, purple skyed universe where Donald Trump can speak without saying something stupid, what would he have said or done to stop Russia from invading Ukraine?

    4. Well, TC. Putin didn't move to take a chunk of Ukraine during the Trump Administration. He took territory during Democrat administrations.

    5. I really don't understand the perspective that another nation's leader, who has clearly and consistently spelled out his long term expansionist goals......has anything to do with which milquetoast we have in 1600 Penn.

    8. @AOW,

Except for the fact that in 2018, under Trump, Russia attacked the Ukrainian Navy in international waters to block transit in the Kirch Strait and took 24 Ukrainian sailors as prisoners.

Trump cancelled a meeting with Putin, denying him a selfie on Instagram, in response. I'm sure Putin was shaking in his bunny slippers.
