Open Thread

My blog break has ended: Warren has returned home.

It was wonderful — rejuvenating — to take a hiatus from politics and enjoy Warren's company!

I'm not quite ready to publish a blog post, so I'm opting for an open thread for a few days.

Here are two links to get the conversation started:

1. Julián Castro Lauds How Muslims Have Helped Make America Great by Robert Spencer.

2.  Leftist Gestapo: 'No Laughing at Chappelle Jokes!': Progressives fly into a totalitarian rage after a comedian dares to mock their sacred cows by Daniel Greenfield.

So, what's on your mind?

Here is your chance to opine within the parameters listed below:

  1. The left, and when I say “the left” I am including ALL the Progressives, Liberals, Socialist Democrats, and any others that may fit the miserable, angry, malcontents of the for mentioned

In decades past, the terms "left" and "right" as applied to Americans were couched in an American context of individual liberty, free speech, "live and let live", and free markets.

This is no longer the case. The new American left REALLY now "is" THE LEFT. They don't believe in free speech, "live and let live", and markets. They've replaced individual rights with government granted group privileges based on race and gender.

These people are no longer our brothers and sisters. They are dangerous ideologues who want to destroy the very concept of America. They should be treated accordingly

  2. I am absolutely INCENSED that A.G. William Barr chose NOT to prosecute James Comey for his chicanery, disgusting dishonesty, his scheming to SIC a "Special Counsel" on President Trump, and Comey's many other egregious sins and violatiins of proper legal procedure

The story is far from over yet, of course, but this flabby, limp-wristed opening gambit in what-ahould-be a RUTHLESS, ALL-OUT CAMPAIGN to RID Washington DC of the ENTRENCHED, UNELECTED, UNACCOUNTABLE partisan Leftist-Globalist Political Operatives who effectively RUN the government from behind the scenes in a most disgustng, disheartening, utterly nefarious way does NOT engender much cinfidence that any reall GOOD will come from Barr's much vaunted appointment.

If Bill Barr doesn't make a dramatic, DECISIVE move SOON to destroy the obvious Double Standard by which politicos are judged, then I will have no choice but to believe that BARR is as phony, corrupt and seditious as the REST of the verminous D.C> Swamp.

My friend SilverFiddle just said at my blog, where I raised this subject yesterday, that "Hillary will never be prosecuted." as though that were simply an acceptable statement of fact.

f General Mike Flynn, businessmen and wheeler-dealer Paul] Maafort, and former Trump aid Roger Stone can be treated as abominably as any victim of Josef Stalin was treated in the former U.S.S.R. ,on the FLIMSIEST of pretexts, then HILLBAITCH by all that's holy wought to be cast into a DUNGEON wth a host of Hungry Rats, and never be allowed to see the light of day ever again.

    1. Franco, is it even possible that AG Barr looked at the evidence, and decided he couldn't get a conviction, so why bother?

AGs and prosecutors do that everyday all across the country. It's their job to look and determine if they can get a guilty verdict.

It's the same set of facts that compounded liberals after the Enron scandal and the recession when few, if any corporate leaders, who caused both those meltdowns, got off scot free.

Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose.

That said, Barr's integrity was questioned already by some of us for his position that Americans "should accept the risks that encryption backdoors pose to their personal cybersecurity"....not to mention concern over the unitary executive theory.

  3. Jennifer Rubin in the Washington Post asks a difficult question...

“What would Republicans have done if President Barack Obama had invited the Taliban to Camp David days before the 18th anniversary of 9/11?”

I'm wondering if there are very many conservatives who might want to take a stab at that? Not at the Washington Post mind you, or at libs at me, but seriously, at the question.

    Thoughts??

    3. AOW... thanks for the honesty. I get what Trump is trying to do. He's looking at years and years of failures bu Admins from both parties. And he's a guy who wants to put a good spin/face on things. I don't begrudge any of that. N Korea is a good example... no one else has solved the riddle, so why can't a President trump try something different? The left is mad his approach is not working, but for 50 years nothing has worked, so why not give the guy some latitude to try another approach.

But this one has really troubled me. Both he and Obama have tried negotiating with the Taliban. They're terrorists. Period. We used to say we don't negotiate with them. And if we do, we keep it quiet and not make a big show.

And certainly, we don't invite them to Camp David, ala Pres Carter with Begin and Sadat, on the anniversary of 9/11. But Trump was looking for optics... I think.

He needs to be willing, IMO, to listen just a little bit to his experts on some of this. This could've been totally avoided if he had.

      Actually:

Gasoline is also more flammable than diesel, and requires less heat for combustion. ... When diesel is injected, it combusts due to the heat of the air.

Even so, it is unnerving that 1000 had been stolen and in a place such as a public garage in a crowded city.

Actually, diesel needs no external heat ("heat from the air") to combust. It combusts when compressed due to the heat that is generated from the compression.

  12. ”TRUMP CALLS OFF TALIBAN NEGOTIATIONS” The headline is a bit neglectful.

Trump Says He’s Called Off Negotiations With Taliban After Afghanistan Bombing!

    Trump’s exact words..........
“If they cannot agree to a cease-fire during these very important peace talks, and would even kill innocent people, then they probably don’t have the power to negotiate a meaningful agreement anyway,”
For any of those that are not aware of the “Attack” that President Trump is referring to he is speaking about the attack that the TALIBAN made last week The Taliban set off a car bomb killing 20 people, including an AMERICAN SOLDIER!
AND THAT WAS THE RIGHT THING FOR HIM TO DO!

This is something I totally agree with Trump, I’m glad he did this. How can you negotiate peace without a cease fire?

Obama was kissing the Taliban's ass..The Surrender Monkey would have sent the terrorists $150 Billion In unmarked money on a large pallet delivered to them after Midnight.......Could you imagine the Progressive’s reaction if Donald Trump had done something like that? Remember when Obama traded five high level Taliban soldiers for one American traitor. Obama has helped Muslim terrorists from the beginning. He gave ISIS chemical weapons then blamed Assad. Obama should have a street in Afghanistan named for him.

But Trump will get things done in spite of these America hating traitors, like Ilhan Omar and Rashida Taliban
