Austin’s Equity Office has recommended renaming the Texas city because of Stephen F. Austin's alleged views on slavery. But why stop at just renaming Austin when Amerigo Vespucci took and sold slaves.Read the rest HERE.
Austin, Texas is named after Stephen F. Austin, but America is named after Amerigo Vespucci.
New York City has been on its own anti-history binge, demoting the statue of the ‘Father of Gynecology’ and tearing out plaques memorializing Robert E. Lee attached to a tree that he had once planted, but it’s got bigger problems. The city is named after King James II whose Royal African Company branded thousands of slaves with DY for the Duke of York.
And New York’s problems don’t end there....

The man does an excellent job confronting the left with their own insanity.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, destructio ad absurdum seems to be the agenda of the luciferian left.
It is all part of a carefully orchestrated campaign: change a nation's history, change the nation's culture. The amazing part is that it was mostly democrats who plagued minorities in this country ... maybe, while we're at it, we should rename the DNC something more appropriate; communist left comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteThank you for making a substantive comment at my blog regarding Larry Elder's excellent article on the history of slavery and racism, Mustang.
DeleteContributions of such thoughtful, insightful quality are much appreciated.
As predicted in Orwell's 1984.
ReplyDelete“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”
Egg-ZACK-Lee!
DeleteI HIGHLY recommend you read LARRY ELDER'S excellent article on the TRUE History of Slavery published at MY blog two days ago.
ReplyDeleteThe Orwell quote sums up the matter succinctly. You have to rewrite the inconvenient history in order to design the uptopian future.
ReplyDeleteHas the Left nothing better to do?
You mean the DYSTOPIAN future, don't you, CI?
DeleteAfter all, –– as Orwell amply illustrates both in Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four –– UTOPIAN SCHEMES lead to DYSTOPIAN SOCIETIES.
October 12, 2018 will be Absolution Day. At 12:00 am, all of Western Civilization and the World's past "sins" will be absolved, and everyone in the world will all start from fresh as equal victims of historical wrongs and discrimination.
ReplyDeleteBy Order of the UN Secretary General
Meanwhile, all Christians get "absolved" every Sunday in Church... so why they care about what happens to the world's "secularists" is beyond me.
DeleteCome on, FJ! A man as intelligent and well read as you should know by now that the Gospel was never intended to be anything remotely like a Grand Uptopian Scheme to reform and reinvent the whole world. It is not a PANACEA.
DeleteThe Chrisitian movement was –– and will always be –– the means by which a person –– as an INDIVIDUAL –– can adjust they way he or she LOOKS at the world, which always has been and always will be a corrupt, depraved, wickedky dangerous place.
The world is a BATTLEGROD on which we, –– as INDIVIDUALS ––, must work out our Salvation with (in Kierkegaard's too-solemn words) "Fear and Trembling."
HOWEVER, dreadful as that may sound, we CAN proceed with CONFIDENCE and experience a fair measure of JOY once we learn to TRUST God, do our best to OBEY Him, set aside ANXIETY, and RELY on the utimate wisdom and consummate BEAUTY of His Will and Almighty power.
It's an INNER thing that has nothing whatsoever to do with POLITICS.
TRY it, you'll LIKE it.

Here's a more succinct Orwell quote:
ReplyDelete“He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past.”
The past is never dead. It's not even past.

And as we can see the right wing's fight to retain the symbols of bigotry shows the era of jim crow and the sting of the civil rights movement still strong.
Austin isn't going to be renamed. Nor any of the other areas in the article.
But the monuments to traitors will be taken down from the public squares. The fact that there is so little understanding of the history of these monuments shows how effectively the history of jim crow has been concealed.
Because that's what these statues are about not some bs "southern culture".
Symbols of bigotry like the US flag have got to go. Ducky said so!
DeleteI want the marble from the Washington monument!
It's cute that the Confederate States were traitors, but not all of the Leftist revolutions, coups and usurpations around the world.

The issue remains despite the ad hominem, non sequiturs and FreeThinke's idiocy that the statues were erected in the period of jim crow in the south as affirmation of segregation and a reminder that the south may have lost the war but segregation was intact.
DeleteOf course the North was far from blameless (Anna-Lisa Cox's recent book "The Bone and Sinew of the Land" is especially interesting) but the statues are in the south and serve as a reminder of jim crow to the minority population.

_______ AN UNASKED FOR EXPLANATION ________
DeleteWHY do I post grotesque song parodies, custom-crafted rhymed invective, and pure nonsense in response to the depredations and warped opinionating forced upon us by the battery of thuggish leftist TROLLS who continually assault and besiege the blogosphere?
Because their OBVIOUS INTENTIONS are to DISRUPT, DISTURB, DERAIL, and OBLITERATE even the POSSIBILITY of having an HONEST conversation about the chosen TOPIC of ANY post that provides –– and attempts to promote –– a CONSERVATIVE-LIBRTARIAN point of view.
The LEFT has always been noted for HECKLING, BADGERING and rudely SHOUTING DOWN opposition,–– or ANYTHING that DISPLEASES them –– AND for staging RIOTS. INSURECTION of many and varied kinds has always been their modus operandi.
The RIGHT tends mostly to act like the BUSHES, MITCH McCONNELL, PAUL RYAN, LINDSEY GRAHAM, the late, not-so-great, holier-than-thou, Master of Political Spoliation, JOHN McVAIN, and the execrable JEFF SESSIONS –– i.e. INSIPID, INEFFECTUAL and PUSILLANIMOUS.
I have taken it upon myself to GIVE the LEFT a healthy dose of ITS OWN BITTER, CORROSIVE, EVIL-SMELLING, EVIL-TASTING MEDICINE.
As you've seen, THEY DON'T LIKE IT any more than WE have for the past half to three-quarters of a century.
Sauce for the Goose, sauce for the Gander and all that. TRA LA LA!
So DON'T LET the BASTARDS GET YOU DOWN. Instead GIVE 'EM HELL!
ONWARD and UPWARD!
Theodor Adorno turned around Benedetto Croce’s patronizing historicist question about “What is dead and what is alive in Hegel’s dialectic.” If Hegel is really alive as a thinker, then the question to be raised is the opposite one: “How do we today stand in the eyes of Hegel?” Exactly the same holds for Ernst Lubitsch. The question is not “What does an increasingly forgotten filmmaker have to say to us?” but rather, “How would our comedy of manners appear in the eyes of Lubitsch?”
DeleteLubitsch would have been appalled to observe how the perverse pleasures of obscenity, and even irony, have moved to the Right, while the Left is more and more caught in a pathetic, ascetic, puritan moralism. While Lubitsch, of course, would have rejected populist neo-racism in disgust, he also would have immediately perceived the falsity of its opponent, politically correct moralism, and would have clearly seen their hidden complicity. In today’s political correctness, racist and sexist motifs are pushed below the bar of acceptability, but there they remain fully operative. Indeed, our official moralism relies upon their continued presence, and functions by making us feel guilty all the time.
-Slavoj Zizek, "Ernst Lubitsch, Cernsorship, and Political Correctness"
The brutish monster Trump has imperiled the leftwing agenda, which Robert Merry described quite accurately...
ReplyDeleteAmerica's future belongs to the "“coalition of the ascendant”—including racial minorities, immigrants, Millennials, and highly educated whites residing primarily along the nation’s two coasts.
"...this ascendant force would eventually overwhelm the declining white majority and usher in a new era of globalism, open borders, identity politics, free trade, cultural individualism, foreign policy interventionism, and gun control."
I fear President Trump may only delay the inevitable, since at least half of the GOP seems to be on board with the “coalition of the ascendant.”
Well, Trump Tower is named after a virulent racist...
DeleteSenator John Tower?
DeleteBelieve it or not Ducky said something above that was CORRECT when he quoted Faulkner.
ReplyDeleteThere IS no PAST. There IS no FUTURE. That's an illusion we foolishly cherish.
In TRUTH, we live –– and have ALWAYS lived –– in the ETERNAL NOW.
Ah, Buddha. What does a 600 pund fat man know about self-control?
