What a coincidence. He died for ME also! I could have sworn that "The Lamb of God died for me!" was a hymn, but A search tells me it is not. I might have to correct that.
So beautiful. Thank you for posting this. The Lamb of God died for each one of us and did so knowing we do not deserve. God bless the Lamb and all praise and glory be to HIM!
AOW...SUCH beautiful music and, as Bunkerville says, 'lesser known'...I also have to say I've rarely heard tenors with that high a range.....And WHY He died for us is the JOY of Good Friday! Give my love to Warren :-)
FYI to all....The two choruses in this blog post are back-to-back in Messiah, then followed by another chorus, All We Like Sheep (my Holy Saturday post). See this list.
BTW, all lyrics in Messiah are passages of Scripture from the King James Bible.

ReplyDeleteThe "lesser knowns" of the work, and oh so beautiful. Thanks for the refresher.

Nicely paired excerpts - and beautiful music. Aaaah. Handel gave Isaiah such panache.
