May God bless the practical women and men, Who rise from the hay every day, and then Produce what we need Without rancor or greed, Make things run, Get things done, Keep things clean, So they're fit to be seen, And continuously smooth the way So that we may live comfortably every day.
The Glazunov is a lovely treat. A composer of whom I've often heard, but have never heard often enough.
I was fmiliar only with the AUTUMN movement, and so glad to have this chance to hear the rest of the suite.
It's extraordinarily HAPPY music –– something I wouldn't normally expect from Russians, who have always tended to revel in Gloom, Doom, Heartbreak, Disenchantment and Strife. Sounds as though Gazunov had much in common with Haydn whose music all reflected an energetic, upbeat approach to life, and a great capacity for sweetness and contentment
A much needed break from the Sturm und Drang of contemporary politics!
I'VE SENT A LINKO TO A AN OLD FRIEND OF MORE THAN SXITY YEARS WHO WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, AND RECENTLY HAD TO GO THROUGH A COMPLETE REMOVAL OF ALL FEMALE PARTS AT BOSTON' FAMED LEAHY CLINIC. THEY STILL DON'T KNOW IF THE CANCER HAS METASATASIZED OR NOT. BUT THE LONG TERM PROSPECTS LOOK GOOD SO FAR.
SHE'S A FELLOW MUSICIAN, SO I KNOW THISGLAZUNOV SHOULD HELP PASS THIS TIME OF SUSPENSEFUL CONVALESCENCE MORE AGREEABLY.

Franco,
DeleteUntil I stumbled upon this video, I'd never even heard of Glazunov!
I specifically chose this peace as a break from the Sturm und Drang of contemporary politics!
