Rejoice in that discovery. It may just be the high point of Western civilization. As philosophically we are all just "foot notes to Plato", musically we are all just "foot notes to Bach".
There are many more Bachs than most people imagine The best known is Johann Sebastian Johann Christoff, Johann Michael, Karl Phillip Emanuel, Maria Barbera, Anna Mgdelena, Johann Christian several more, but that's all that I know of the various Bachs!
You can sing that to the famous triplet accompaniment if you'like. It FITS!
[NOTE: I cannot claim authorship for this piece of wit. It originiated in the fertile mind of Josefa Heifetz, daughter of the late great violinist, Jascha Heifetz.]
Bach fthered TWENTY children with two different wives. Most of them were well trained in music by ther father. Several became signficant composers, themselves, but you're absolutely right. NONE of the Bach children could hold a candle to their father who really WAS the greatest musical genius the Western World has ever seen.

Nothing like a Bach tune.
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt Bach's single most "approachable" effort. When all can be enticed to listen, there is no limit to what the heart can inspire.
ReplyDeleteWonderful rendition.

Franco,
DeleteThanks for that reminder.
But, IMO, none come close to being J.S. Bach himself.
