Caravan Truth

One of my Facebook finds:

My own personal gripe about the presence of illegal aliens in the United States:

You better believe that I vote against any and all who support the concept of sanctuary cities or the concept of taking illegal "migrants" — caravan or no caravan!

My personal story....

In my early 50's and without my having any pre-existing condition including any previous spinal injury, one horrible morning, as I was driving to work (I owned my own business at the time), I sustained a permanently-disabling spinal injury resulting in Neurogenic Pain Syndrome (aka Neuropathic Pain Syndrome) because of an illegal alien under deportation order and driving a Yellow Cab. This cab driver ran a 4-way stop sign and rear-ended me as he was going about 35 MPH.

Before you say, "The cab company is responsible," think again. These cab drivers, most with few assets and little insurance, are not covered by the cab company's insurance.

I sued for less than the insurance amount that the cab driver had — and his insurance policy was for only $100,000 coverage. He was supposed to be carrying a policy of $300,000 coverage.

How did I fare in court?

Not well!

Upon the pittance of a settlement (Think of a low amount, then think of a much lower amount), the officer of the court told me in words that will echo in my mind until I go to my grave:

"The sympathies of the court lie with the poor immigrant. If the situation were reversed, you'd be taken to the cleaners'.

NO JUSTICE FOR ME!

The so-called settlement I received didn't begin to cover my out-of-pocket medical expenses. Those expenses -- and this tormenting pain -- still continue to this day. 24/7/365!

The pain I have suffered since May 2005 is much akin to the nerve pain caused by shingles.

Come live my life, and see how much you love sanctuary cities and illegal aliens! Especially, but not limited to, behind the wheel.

Sooner or later, something like what happened to me will happen to you or to — God forbid! — your child or significant other.

I urge any and all who read this commentary to reconsider favoring sanctuary cities and the admission of caravans of "migrants." The outcome will be even worse that the situation with which I have to deal.

Or close the wall with our Republican dead.
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
    As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
    Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
    Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage;
    Then lend the eye a terrible aspect;
Let pry through the portage of the head
Like the brass cannon; let the brow o'erwhelm it
As fearfully as doth a galled rock
O'erhang and jutty his confounded base,
Swill'd with the wild and wasteful ocean.
Now set the teeth and stretch the nostril wide,
Hold hard the breath and bend up every spirit
    To his full height.
    On, on, noble Conservatives.
Whose blood is fet from fathers of war-proof!
Fathers that, like so many Alexanders,
Have in these parts from morn till even fought
And sheathed their swords for lack of argument:
Dishonour not your mothers; now attest
That those whom you call'd fathers did beget you.
Be copy now to men of grosser blood,
And teach them how to war. And you, good yeoman,
Whose limbs made in America, show us here
The mettle of your pasture; let us swear
    That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not;
For there is none of you so mean and base,
That hath not noble lustre in your eyes.
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Donald Trump, and RIghteius Wrath!'

  2. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.

There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth.
He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

BE STILL, AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

    1. I'm over the bitterness, and wrath, and anger which followed a few years after the court hearing.

What remains is the physical pain, which eludes every solution attempted, although some brought and sometimes bring temporary relief: physical therapy, pressure point therapy, electronic acupuncture, massage therapy, various medications (Lyrica worked the best, but unacceptable side effects ensued, including vision distortions and memory loss), yoga therapy, various sacroiliac injections, daily use of a TENS unit.

For whatever reason, the Lord has not given me the pain-free answer to my prayers, nor the pain-free answer to the prayers of the team who pray for me.

I have some ideas as to how this might be helped, but this is neither the time nor the place to share them. Perhaps we might talk about it after the election, if you'd like?

I do admire the way you've been able to carry on so well, and be so effective in your teaching, even with te numerous challenges and burdens you've had to bear. That shows great strength of character.

Though not part of any team, I do pray for you every day, as I do everyone who means anything to me, and of course, I pray for the world. That helps ME, even if " the world" continues to remain sublimely indifferent on the subject. ;-)

I'm very grateful that I am almost 78 years old, and –– so far –– have only had to deal with legal blindness, a mild case of diabetes, and the chronic loss of energy that seems to be a nautral consequence of aging. In my case the blessings greatly outweigh the negatives, and I'm fortunate enough to be able to realize it.

Meanwhile, let us kep our fingers crossed, and hope tomorrow will bring the outcome we hope to see.

    3. As a followup to your situation, the government without any concern for those in chronic pain have made their lives about as miserable as a life can be.The so called opiod crisis. Wait until you writhe in pain after your surgery, just recall "I'm from the government, and I am here to help.
A blister pack of 7 days of pain medication for those in chronic unremitting pain is all you get, whose lives just became hell on earth.
There are about as many drunk drivers who kill and get killed as opiod drug deaths is my guess. If they weren't into drugs, it probably would be this drug of choice.
But no amendment was passed to ban pain control.

One of the best kept secrets among surgeons: the surgeries are pronounced "Successful!" without regard to how many are left in the horrible vortex of neurogenic pain. Just cutting into a person's abdomen -- or elsewhere, for that matter -- can result in chronic pain for the rest of the patient's life.

      Addendum....

For 6 months, before "the War on Opioids" arrived, I was taking a huge amount of opioids -- including, but not limited to, oxycontin. I got fed up with the paralyzing constipation. Never ever did I experience any euphoria. Not one whit!

So...one morning, I decided to cut back the dosages.

Over a period of a few weeks, I drastically cut back on all the opioids and was no longer taking any oxycontin -- and without any symptoms of withdrawal.

Why my lack of reaction? According to the doctors, it was because I never played around with drugs -- never mind that I attended college in the 60s. Drug addiction is not in my personality.

    8. The grand secret is that most have no inclination to addiction. My hunch is it amounts to the same number as would be alcohol addiction. There are now drugs for the constipation.
I live in a continuing care community. I am so sad to see those who have been enjoying life now deprived of pain control.

  4. __ A BARNYARD PARABLE AS PUBLIC SERVICE MESSAGE __

Sarah was in the fertilized egg business. She had several hundred
young pullets and ten roosters to fertilize the eggs.

She kept records and any rooster not performing went into the soup pot
    and was replaced.

This took a lot of time, so she bought some tiny bells and attached
them to her roosters. Each bell had a different tone, so she could
tell from a distance which rooster was performing. Now, she could sit
on the porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to
    the bells.

Sarah's favorite rooster, old Butch, was a very fine specimen but,
this morning she noticed old Butch's bell hadn't rung at all! When she
went to investigate, she saw the other roosters were busy chasing
pullets, bells-a-ringing, but the pullets hearing the roosters coming,
    would run for cover.

To Sarah's amazement, old Butch had his bell in his beak, so it
couldn't ring. He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job, and walk on to
    the next one.

Sarah was so proud of old Butch, she entered him in a Show and he
became an overnight sensation among the judges.

The result was the judges not only awarded old Butch the "No Bell
Peace Prize" they also awarded him the "Pulletsurprise" as well.

Clearly old Butch was a politician in the making. Who else but a
politician could figure out how to win two of the most coveted awards
on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the unsuspecting
populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention?

Vote carefully in the next election. You can't always hear the bells.

  5. This is our government, inflicting this on us, in our own country.

Fact is, workaday people bear the brunt of illegal immigration, the educated professionals and power elites have the money to insulated themselves from the effects. Nancy Pelosi doesn't have "brown people" in her neighborhood. The elites live in exclusive neighborhoods, send their children to private schools, and don't have to worry about job competition from illegal aliens driving down their wages. Fie on them all.

  6. It always amazes me when hear someone say, "I hate Trump" and when I ask them, ...Why? They always reply with an anti-Trump talking point they've gotten from the liberal left media. The other day while outside the voting poll, I had a young man tell me exactly that. I asked him... Why do you hate Trump so much?

He replied, ...because he wants to build a wall.

I said to him: ...Can I ask you a few questions, he said, okay.

I asked: ...Do you not have locks on your doors and windows at your house? He said, yes, of course.

I asked him ...Why? ...He replied, to keep people out.

He then smiled, his face and eyes lit up (as if common sense) was restored to him again. With a big glowing smile on his face, he replied ...You got me there, good point.

At that point, I said to him, ...a country without borders is not country at all. And President Trump is doing exactly what he's supposed to do, ...keep the American people safe from all threats, no matter what form they may take.

Sadly, much of the hate people have for President Trump is media manufactured. That becomes apparent when they state their reasons for not liking him.

She walked the lines and talked to many. They ALL said the same thing - clearly well rehearsed. Since she was a fluent speaker she picked up the conversations around her that showed the organization and discipline reminiscent of a military column.

The very few she spoke with out of the hearing of others were some stragglers at the back. They had left on their own and were quickly "encouraged" to join the throng, and they were the only ones who did not give the same rehearsed answers as all the others.

    1. Ducky... just from my conversations with ppl here in Nevada, the caravan is front and center for many. One person told me the US is in a state of anarchy right now with crime rampant and that the criminals coming in the caravan will only make it worse. That attitude seems to be prevailing in the more conservative voters and the Heller campaign... it's a lot like the Prop 187 commercials that ran in CA years ago.

That campaign resulted in the GOP essentially losing the ability to win any state wide races to this day.

Even taking the low number, illegal immigrants are punching way above their weight when it comes to crime.

That number does not take into account those incarcerated in state prisons and county jails.

    4. Ducky... here's what many on the left are either failing to understand, or accept. While it is currently a misdemeanor, the very fact that someone comes across the border without papers, or illegally, makes them criminals.

So in a sense, the moment they enter, outside of the asylum system, they become criminals. 100%.
