Britain doesn't have a written Constitution. The vote was non-binding. The government "pretends" to do the will of the people only when they're called out, like AFTER a vote, the Parliament does whatever the hell it bloody well chooses. THAT is why Cameron resigned (pretense of democracy). They'll now "pretend" to be pulling out of the EU, whilst their press/propaganda machine kicks in and doom and glooms the public into another "Stay" vote.
This is the opening volley. Independence is a LONG way off.
He was getting a lot of back-bencher pressure to leave. Britain has her "paleocons" and "Freedom/Tea Party Caucus" just like we do. Not all Conservatives are "neocons".
Besides, the Neocons have a "new better" idea. Complete political union in the form of DieM25. The Neo-Liberals LOVE the idea. The "United States of Europe". THAT is their goal.
neoliberalism has progressed too far. Thatcher and Reagan were the conservative champions for it. The Powell memorandum was almost universally adopted by conservatives and think tanks, but it leading the way to market states run by technocrats who solve all "political problems" posed to them (ala green energy, biogenetics, etc) to maximize monetary returns.
But there's a downside to neoliberalism. Corporations are its' citizens, NOT people.
Meanwhile Soros shorted the pound and bought gold ahead of the vote. He and others will run their currency into the ground, the British will yell mercy, it was all a mistake and will return to the status quo. Quite true as I read. It is non binding. They have two long years of purgatory anyway until the fruits of their votes come into being.
I notice that the "Vote Leave" committee has frozen out Nigel Farage after he admitted his statement about National Health saving nearly 400 million pounds is the pure stinky cheese.
A lot of people voted "Leave" as merely a protest and will now suffer when they find the "Leave" leaders don't have any strategy going forward.
Just like what would come out of the mouth of a vampire being drug into the sunlight, this is what you will hear from the media about British Exit. So, it looks like a few or more sane countries will also exit the EU (socialism) That is fantastic. Kill socialism - put a wooden stake in it's heart. Make the people of France for example realize that they can no longer exist on a failing economic system. And Greece! Good God yes, spank those monkeys. Hey socialist people. I don't owe you Jack! Yes, we all pay for socialism wherever it exists. Even duck the dipstick pays for some butthead's meal in Greece day after day. Typical of course that they would support this sort of thing.
Kid, I spotted this remark over on a friend's Facebook page, and the comment explains one reason that there is so much screeching by the Enemedia and other Left wingers:
[Brexit] is a repudiation of Left wing ideology put on public display.
he EU is poised to ban high-powered appliances such as kettles, toasters, hair-dryers within months of Britain’s referendum vote, despite senior officials admitting the plan has brought them “ridicule”.
The European Commission plans to unveil long-delayed ‘ecodesign’ restrictions on small household appliances in the autumn. They are expected to ban the most energy-inefficient devices from sale in order to cut carbon emissions.
The plans have been ready for many months, but were shelved for fear of undermining the referendum campaign if they were perceived as an assault on the British staples of tea and toast...
The People spoke! It brings to mind a line from Captain blood by Lord Willoghby. I only wish it would rub off here in the U.S. and remind people the government is the people, not the sloth that is the establishment at this time:
“The English people will go so far Captain Blood and then they get up on their stubborn hind legs!”

Independence Day? Hardly.

David Cameron's Bloomberg speech was all for show. He never had any intention of pursuing any outcome 'other' than Union.
DeleteWhy did Cameron call for a referendum in the first place?
DeleteHe was getting a lot of back-bencher pressure to leave. Britain has her "paleocons" and "Freedom/Tea Party Caucus" just like we do. Not all Conservatives are "neocons".

Thersites,
DeleteThe Neo-Liberals LOVE the idea. The "United States of Europe". THAT is their goal.
If the people don't want that goal, it shouldn't be forced on them by the elites.
Welcome to the new world of Neo-liberal wet dream inspired "Market States" (replacing nation states). DieM25 makes them "realities".

DeleteThey won't force people. Consent will be "manufactured".
Because w/o the illusion of free choice, the systemic evil of neoliberalism would become readily apparent.
DeleteWell, that's depressing.
DeleteI prefer to believe that they're leaving the union.
Silly me.
Think "corporate" Britain is leaving the union? They'd lose 7/8ths of their customers.
DeleteUK Muslims voted for Bremain, not Brexit.

ReplyDeleteFIVE European countries may seek to follow Britain’s lead in leaving the EU in a Brexit domino effect.
Get ready for the turbulence.

A disaster in the making.
Diem25 ain't EVER gonna see the light of day. The welfare state is kaput.
