How The GOP Establishment Leaders View The Primary Results

Thus far, Karl Rove's plans to put a RINO of his choosing behind the desk of the Oval Office have been derailed:

As of this posting, Donald Trump has won a majority of delegates in eight states and is the only candidate so far to have met the parameters of Rule 40. See What Is a Brokered Convention? GOP Rules Favor Trump.

For months, the leadership of the GOP said time and again that Trump would never get this far. Now the Party's leadership is coming to a sort of realization of what's happened to their power as leaders of the GOP — albeit not a full realization.

From this article in the Washington Post:
..."The critique was there: The Republican Party was out of touch,” said Peter Wehner, a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center and former George W. Bush speechwriter. “But the breakdown occurred because we got into a cycle where policy didn’t matter at all. Policy was not just secondary, but it was almost not even in the conversation. And when people tried to interject policy — whether it was Rubio or Bush or others — there was just no appetite for it. It didn’t catch on.”

[...]

“The party finds itself catching up to its base. Those very elegant papers it published and conferences it held may have been good and smart, but they didn’t really matter,” said William J. Bennett, a conservative talk-show host and former education secretary in Ronald Reagan’s administration. “Instead, everyone who’s been prominent for the last 15 to 20 years finds themselves getting pushed out.”...

  1. I understand that the rules in place for the last convention don't necessarily apply to this one. That "they" will meet prior to this convention and set the rules. The last rules were set in place to favor Romney. Either way, a brokered convention coming. Thanks Soros supported Kasich.

    1. Yes, rules can change at the convention.

My understanding about Rule 40, however, is that that rule came about after the convention per se -- because the thinking was that if Romney had been the default earlier, he could have won in November 2012 because more money would have poured into his campaign coffers earlier on. I got this information face-to-face from a GOP insider who is a part of the GOP "establishment."

I heard that Soros has supported Kasich. I'm not surprised!

I'm not so sure about a brokered convention. A lot of worries in the inner circle about exercising that option.

    2. Makes sense, thanks for clarifying. I think we are in for a rough ride at the convention either way.

  2. What is particular interesting and important about this primary cycle: the two GOP candidates who have a realistic path to the White House are outsiders (Cruz and Trump).

  3. The GOP establishment, including those esteemed men quoted in the article, is on life support because they've been trapped in their own bubble and huffing their own fumes.

The American people don't give a damn about "policy." The American people want a non-nutty can-do president who will stop the bi-partisan DC project of selling our birthright out from under us and playing patsy to the rest of the world who despise us--while excoriating us for our militarism--while demanding under the covers that we go invade over there to stop (fill in the blank).

  4. Bernie is under the Clinton Panzer's tread tracks... the Bern is now a wet fizzle...

So, does the GOP Establishment get serious, or do they give up and go with Hillary?

Is Kasich now the establishment candidate? Can he thread the needle to a brokered convention nomination? Will Cruz accept the VP position?

    Can Kasich-Cruz beat Hillary-Castro?

Will El Donaldo go quietly into that good night?

    Stay tuned to FOX News!*

Folks, in the end, it's not what you want, it's what the Global Elites want. They wanted Barry before you did. They "socialized" the idea of President Barack Obama, planted it in the public consciousness. You libs don't think you came up with His Barackness on your own, do you?

    8. Despite the fact that he hasn't welcomed me back to the GOP with a promise to round up Romney supporters and dispose of them through a tree mulcher, I could see myself reluctantly voting for Cruz (Jesus freaks don't skeer me...)

Now that we're past goodbye Rubio Tuesday, I expect to see Trump knocked on his ass in one-on-ones with Cruz when he's not rallying the Klan or crying on Twitter.

If Trump wins the nomination, count me as an enthusiastic vote for Hillary.

  5. Kasich's win in Ohio may spell TRAGEDY for the USA. He is staying in the race –– PRIMARILY –– to SPOIL Donald Trump's chances of winning enough delegates to cinch the nomination and avoid the "Contested Convention" for which he stupid, selfish, power-mad GOP Stabbies, apparently, long.

[NOTE: I did think Governor Kasich was a decent, sincere human being, but if it's true that he accepted support from the likes of GEORGE SOROS, he is just another piece of filth that ought to be cleansed from the scene with the moral equivalent of muriatic acid.]

Mr. Trump may be an unknown quantity, –– he's often called "a loose cannon" –– who MIGHT betray "Conservative" interests, but we already know with absolute certainty that HILLAWITCH is hell bent on giving our country the coup de grace with the left-leaning fiends she is CERTAIN to nominate to the Supreme Court.

THAT –– and ONLY that –– should be uppermost in "our" minds no matter WHO gets the GOP nomination.

In case you hadn't noticed The Supreme Court has become THE most powerful of the three supposedly "co-equal" branches of government.

This happened a long time ago, because CONGRESS has been far more interested in winning elections to h old on to power and perquisites than they have been in governing honestly and forthrightly.

I had hoped early on that Dr. Carson and Carly Fiorina would prevail, but had to accept that was impossibile. So, as a reluctant pragmatist I have to say, personally, prefer Senator CRUZ to Mr. Trump as the best possible alternative to Her Heinous, but unfortunately Senator Cruz's chances of getting the nomination appear to be slim to none.

If you can't get the candidate you WANT,
At least don't encourage the COUNT.

[Think "country" when you say that, and you'll catch my drift. };-]>

  6. Rubio becomes one more Republican who sounds better in defeat than he ever did on the campaign trail. Makes me wonder who the real Marco it, and how he would have fared without all the coaching and the handlers...

  7. Lots of articles out there pointing to how out of touch the GOP Establishment is. A quote from Tim Stanley:

"Conservatism, according to the script, is a stool that sits on three legs: neoconservative foreign policy, free market economics and social conservatism"

    Well...

Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld-Rice burned the neocon leg off the stool...

The Free Market leg was found to be a fake, made out of hollow balsa wood...

And the nation has overwhelmingly rejected social conservatism preached to them by a pharasiacal clutch of hypocrites.

So, that leaves the GOP sitting on their asses on a little round wooden circle on the floor, looking around in dazed confusion wondering what the hell happened.

No stool, no ideas, no concept of how to sell ideas if they had any, no charisma, no charity in their hearts, no clue...

And we wonder why Donald Trump is storming the ramparts and on his way to being the GOP's standard-bearer...

  9. The number of people who know who George Soros is are vastly outnumbered by those who don't or don't care or do know and don't care. Outside a sliver of people that live for hunting boogeymen, "Kasich took money from Soros" barely has enough calories to fuel a yawn.

  11. Here's a good article on how the GOP reasserts itself and dumps Trump

The potemkin primaries are just a kabuki to fool "voters" into believing they can pick the party's nominee. Various GOP insiders have said as much over the past few days.

Same applies to both parties. You can throw those old Normal Rockwell paintings in the garbage. Our major parties are in Castro's Cuba territory.

  14. Aside from everything else, Trump knows how this diseased system of choosing a candidate works. His strategy of threatening to go 3rd party and thereby assuring a democrat win is spot on. The remaining question is that if Trump should win a general election - will he serve the Conservatives. Regardless, anything is better than the hildebeast cackling and lying to the 37th power from the wh for at least 4 years. I literally pray this does not happen.
