Weekend Humor Break

(For politics, please scroll down. Active thread below)

Another frenetic week in the blogosphere during this bizarre election cycle, and I figure that it's time to step back and have a good laugh....

And for all you teachers or former teachers out there...

  2. Awww, gee. I was all worked up to come and do battle.
I guess I'll have to poke around the blogosphere.
I wish MY teachers had had that cup.
I think I affected them poorly.

  3. I don't know...subbing last week, I felt like anything BUT "I am the teacher". I did want to shout...it would have been to scream "I AM TAKING DOWN NAMES" :-)
Here's a tip; when the school calls you to sub on a Friday afternoon after lunch, just before the high schoolers are freed for the wknd...SAY "NO" :-)
    otherwise, they're so good!

    1. Z,
Speaking of subbing on a Friday...

On Good Friday 1978, the public schools were in session here. As I approached the building, an entire van load of masked streakers emerged and proceeded to run through the building. The disruption when the students ran through the building resulted in no teaching for the rest of the day.

The streakers didn't identify me as anyone other than another student. I was very young in those days -- and looked younger than I actually was.

I mentally noted the license plate number of the van and reported the number to the office. Were those students ever surprised when they were rounded up and arrested! The judges, one juvie and one adult, didn't throw the book at the students when the court dates arrived.

    2. I remember once on during lunch when the regiment was forming for lunch and 1st Company was getting ready to start marching into the mess hall, my 3rd Platoon of 5th Company bolted across the lawn and ran into the Mess Hall followed by 3rd, 4th and 6th Companies, taking our seats for lunch first for the first time in nearly four years. Rather than use the traditional "Honor System" and give us demerits, the Company Officer grounded the entire 3rd Platoon for the weekend, violating every written regulation in Midshipman's Handbook. I also got a nice talking to, as he explained that he wasn't required to follow the Handbook, a lesson in the difference between "Power" and "Authority" that I never forgot.

  4. MUGS that OUGHT to be PLACED on the PODIUM in front of TRUMP, CRUZ and RUBIO:

I will not shout on the dais

I will not throw a fit

I will not call anyone names

I will not have a temper tantrum

I will comport myself with dignity as befits the dignity of a candidate for the highest office in the land.

They'd probably pick up those mugs and throw them at each other. An unruly bunch they are.

    3. I heard excerpts of the GOP debate... What a freak show!

Rubio's hires screamers in the audience were the worst.

The GOP is puking in the gutter with soiled trousers...

    4. SF,
The words freak show don't begin to cover what's going on with the GOP. See Inside the Republican Party’s Desperate Mission to Stop Donald Trump. Excerpt:

...While still hopeful that Mr. Rubio might prevail, Mr. McConnell has begun preparing senators for the prospect of a Trump nomination, assuring them that, if it threatened to harm them in the general election, they could run negative ads about Mr. Trump to create space between him and Republican senators seeking re-election....

      Much more at the link.

The ugliness has just begun. Karl Rove has issued the marching orders.

  5. Speaking of Bernie Sanders...

A member of his ground team called on us this afternoon. Mr. AOW answered the door.

    1. Bunkerville,
Mr. AOW wouldn't let him in, but instead talking to him, standing on the porch while, Mr. AOW stayed seated on his scooter just inside the door.

I missed the short conversation because I was taking a nap. Too bad!
