Resurrection Day 2020

Lyrics (Charles Wesley, 1739):
Christ the Lord is ris’n today, Alleluia!
Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heav’ns, and earth, reply, Alleluia!

Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Once He died our souls to save, Alleluia!
Where thy victory, O grave? Alleluia!

Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids His rise, Alleluia!
Christ hath opened paradise, Alleluia!

Soar we now where Christ hath led, Alleluia!
Foll’wing our exalted Head, Alleluia!
Made like Him, like Him we rise, Alleluia!
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!

Hail the Lord of earth and heaven, Alleluia!
Praise to Thee by both be given, Alleluia!
Thee we greet triumphant now, Alleluia!
Hail the Resurrection, thou, Alleluia!

King of glory, Soul of bliss, Alleluia!
Everlasting life is this, Alleluia!
Thee to know, Thy pow’r to prove, Alleluia!
Thus to sing, and thus to love, Alleluia!
Be blest.

  4. _______ RESSURECTION _______

Cold He lay behind the heavy stone,
Hidden there with broken hands and feet.
Ruthless powers crushed His flesh and bone.
It looked to be the ultimate defeat.
Sadly, in the dawn Saint Mary’s three
Trudged toward the tomb wherein He lay.
Instead of death, an angel helped them see,
Startled, that the stone was rolled away!
A risen Jesus stood! He still drew breath!
Radiance around Him warmed the air.
In banks of lilies sweet we now see death
Stripped of terror. Life, eternal, fair,
Enjoins us all to claim His victory.
Naught could stop us save our vanity.

  5. THIS MUST BE SAID:

That lovely young woman standing with her instrument making beautful music among the columns in that deserted, windswept forum is a violinist with lyrical gifts second to none.

Thank you for posting her exquisite performance of Christ the Lord is Risen Today.

This special version captures not only the Joy of the Resurrection, but also the poignancy of the terrible events that ultimately led to Jesus' victory over death.

  6. A humble homage to Patricia Folsom on this Easter Sunday....left on Bunkerville's blog in response to Mustang's excellent comment , and put at GeeeZ, too. Patricia deserves it:

“Yes, we ALL have doubts, and I think it brings us closer and closer every time we ‘get over the doubt and remember our faith’…for a while. As our dear blogger friend Patricia Folsom, who died 2 weeks ago so suddenly, said when we talked about doubts or fears, “don’t you just hate being HUMAN?” On the day she finally died of the massive heart attack, she commented to a friend responding to her request for prayer due to chest pain, on Facebook, “What’s the worst that can happen? I’ll be with JESUS!”

THAT is FAITH. And she was, we’re all SURE of it, within 2 hours. Safe. Spending Easter with Him.”

    2. Patricia's daughter posted this on her own Facebook timeline yesterday (Easter Sunday), lightly edited:

Happy Easter. This was one of my mother’s favorite holidays because of her religious beliefs, beliefs I don’t share though I am a spiritual person.

I miss her more than words can define. The silence in this house without her joyful laugh and the ever pesky mom attitude has left a very large hole in my heart and life.

It was a life that was taken fast, and I wasn’t ready for it.

      But you never are.

You never know when the day is your last.

Once upon a time we didn’t talk for years due to our differences. Please don’t let that come between you and your family. Call them and tell them you love them. Make it right. I’m so glad I did.

    3. Nice that "Patricia's daughter" wrote this...I can only imagine the void in that house without Patricia's laugh and chiding!
She was one of those whose witness was a blessing; Imagine a woman THAT certain of where she would go; may we all feel that as we grow and mature in our faith.
This is so true: do not waste time in allowing differences to sour a relationship, particularly, as close as mother and daughter. A good message, an IMPORTANT message. Good luck to you, honey! I love that your mother totally trusted Jesus, not just a 'passing interest,' which our Pastor warned against...but totally trusting His promises. Your mother's life was enriched and more happy for faith in Him. I pray that for you. Z

    4. Z,
I feel a void here as well.

Our guestroom has been called "Patricia's room" ever since here stay here in 2016-2017.

And her touches are everywhere! All throughout the house.

Of course, things are much, much worse for Patricia's daughter.

  7. Hillsdale is empty right now, when it should be full of young conservative students learning to save our republic.
Larry Arrn asked the last 40 of them whether they thought they should stay on campus. All but one said they should stay.
He said that they would likely be tending to each other's sickness, and they replied that that was their calling, to tend to those in need.
Beautiful music in honor of a beautiful Lord.
Thank you Jesus for rescuing me. Us.
