ReplyDeleteRemodel the UN Building into a combination first-class hotel and condominium complex with two or three world-class restaurants, a few fine shoppes, and elegant, beautifully furnished conference rooms for conferences and conventions on the lower floors.
Well-appointed, architecturally significant condominiums of vaying sizes and several floors of rental apartments would occupy the rest.
Beautiful site! Beatiful views! A geatly improves use for this choice piece of Manhattan real estate.
And NO I would not recommend turning it into Public Housing for the Poor or using it as a Homeless Shelter. All such faciities should be ,located in the South Bronx –– a place that offers nothing but a great deal of Room for Improvement.
On the other hand: The UN Building MIGHT make a dynamite addition to New York's MEDICAL facilities. A combination Hospital with a Convalescent-Rehabilitation Center attached could be wonderful IF done right –– i.e. get DONALD TRUMP to mastermind the project whatever it might be, and it will be sure to GLOW and quickly become an inspiring advanage to everyone who lives and works in the New York Metroolitan area –– and to visitors as well..
The League of Nations was a fiasco and the United Nations took its place. In terms of its cost and dismal failures, there is no benefit to the UN. We shouldn’t let it die, however ... we should, with malice and forethought, euthanize it.
