My reaction to the recent events in Charlottesville, Virginia...
Independent of President Trump's statements about these events, I am concerned that too many in our nation have descended into the Cult of Victimology.
Self-pity, whatever the topic or cause — be it a legitimate or an illegitimate cause — is unhealthy for the body of our republic.
Furthermore, in my view, such victimology-identities predate the arrival of Donald Trump upon the political landscape.
We are watching the devolution of America.
Your link headline begins to tell the story. "Three Dead..." How did a police helicopter crash add up to being killed in the event? No proof. As of now the copter could just as well been in the air for a traffic report.
ReplyDeleteI only use this as an example of the bias media coverage. The group had a permit. Antifa did not. The police were told to stand down as reported this morning by Fox. Everyone knew in the beginning it wasn't going to end well.
Let's find where and who is supporting this happening. Then we will have real news.
Bunkerville,
DeleteHow did a police helicopter crash add up to being killed in the event? No proof.
Agree!
The group had a permit. Antifa did not.
Antifa came there with the purpose of rumbling.
The police were told to stand down as reported this morning by Fox.
I also saw some of the information on Facebook.

Let's start with David Duke and Richard Spencer.
You walk around giving the Nazi salute and you can expect a response. That's been pretty well established.
Not sure what victimology has to do with this unless it's the snowflakes who feel they are victimized because a symbol of "southern culture"(slavery) is being removed.
But it is instructive that the far right can't admit to owning this.
Let's start with George Soros and Chairman Mao.
DeleteYou walk around giving the Black Power salute and you can expect a response. That's been pretty well established.
Not sure what victimology has to do with this unless it's the snowflakes who feel they are victimized because someone voiced a non-politburo-approved opinion.
But it is instructive that the far left can't admit to owning this, even as they brought tankerloads of gasoline to the fire the entire Obama reign.
You'll do anything but break faith with you neo-Nazi BFF's, FreeThinke.
DeleteYou defend the Klan and Nazis and show no shame.
The extent the right is going to deny responsibility is truly instructive.
I am not FreeThinke. He doesn't do the cut/paste/throw it back in their faces that I did, and he speaks more eloquently than I do.
DeleteYou see only what you choose to see through your ideological blindfold.

Irony you can cut with a knife.
What does the Orwell quote have to do with this dim bulb unless you mean we shouldn't let Nazis get a toe hold.
Defending the Constitution? No.
This is about the Republicans not being willing to excise the malignancy in their party.
That's what it's about.
It's about Republicans whose idea of free speech is driving a car into a crowd.
Duck,
DeleteIt's about Republicans whose idea of free speech is driving a car into a crowd.
No, it's not.
One person, who appears to have registered for the 2016 election as a Republican used his car as a murder weapon.
The malignancy to which I assume you're referring has a history with the Democratic Party -- not with the Republican Party.
If you really can't understand the relevancy of the Orwell quote which Warren cited, you have slipped a gear.
BTW, I knew that trouble was coming yesterday. Since at least Friday morning, the media were ginning up this protest in Charlottesville. It's no wonder that something happened.
Ducky,
DeleteYou still haven't owned the Bernie Bro who murdered those people in Portland, so go *quack* yourself.
Nostradumbass whined:
Delete"This is about the Republicans not being willing to excise the malignancy in their party."
Here I'll help you out.
I'm not a Republican all except for a two year period when I wanted to vote in a Republican Primary, (The Republicans seldom have multiple candidates running for the same office in this area. I've been a registered Democrat all of my adult life. I actually vote for the candidate that most represents my values, (which you wouldn't understand as you do not have any values). I've never voted for a Democrat for national office.
Now, as soon as the Democrats purge themselves of the likes of you, illegal aliens, Keith Ellison, BLM, the big unions, code pink and a whole lot more (their name is legion,) you give me a heads up and I'll reconsider.
"What does the Orwell quote have to do with this dim bulb unless you mean we shouldn't let Nazis get a toe hold."
Let me *splane* it to you Lucy. I'll admit it might have confused you a bit but I assumed that you remember what you comment. I read all the comments before I answer any particular one. Concerning this bit:
"An important part of shaping the ideologically-correct future (and correct "opinions") is reshaping the past."
Who'll watch the watchers?
In terms even a uneducated boob like you should be able to understand, who gets to decide what these, "ideologically-correct future (and correct "opinions")", are?
You? (LOL) Stop, stop, you'll make me pee on myself!
Besides that, I'm not going to engage in abetting any of your "ideological" anal retentive, paranoid buds in your fantasies (of which there are many). So you can go straight to hell!
BTW, I'm making the rules, not you. If you call me another name, ("dim bulb"), you're gone. GOT IT? And I'll call you anything I wish. If you don't like it go somewhere else! Maybe start your own blog, you could call it Nostradumbass's Safe Place.

ReplyDeleteAs you know, true Conservatism and fascism (Nazism) do not equate.
And true Conservatism and what is now called "white supremacism" do not equate.
Check out this information about the Michael Signer, the mayor of Charlottesville:
ReplyDeleteHe has worked for the Center for American Progress and worked with John Podesta on Barack Obama's State Department Transition Team.
Mr. Signer has been busy since yesterday evening -- all over ever news show I saw -- in his zeal to lay yesterday's outbreak of violence "at the steps of the White House."
Check out this list and this list of articles that Mr. Signer has written.
If it is true that the Unite the Right group, a group which had a lawful permit, to walk through the lines of Anti-fa so as to reach their designated assembly place, I submit that the authorities in Charlottesville were hoping for violence to break out.
And how is that the murderer's car sat there idling for several minutes and was not noticed by the police?
AOW... good work... you may want to check out my post today. It didn't smell right from the beginning. I have the Fox clip where the police were told to leave as it was "too dangerous"

Soft as a man with a dead child speaks;
Hard as a man in handcuffs,
Held where he cannot move:
_____ Under the sun
Are sixteen million men,
Chosen for shining teeth,
Sharp eyes, hard legs,
And a running of young warm blood in their wrists.
_____ And a red juice runs on the green grass;
And a red juice soaks the dark soil.
And the sixteen million are killing –– and killing
_____ and killing.
_____ I never forget them day or night:
They beat on my head for memory of them;
They pound on my heart and I cry back to them,
To their homes and families, dreams and games.
_____ I wake in the night and smell the trenches,
And hear the low stir of sleepers in lines--
Sixteen million sleepers and pickets in the dark:
Some of them long sleepers for always,
Some of them tumbling to sleep tomorrow for always,
Fixed in the drag of the world's heartbreak,
Eating and drinking, toiling –– on a long job of

ReplyDeleteThis is the deliberately plotted work of MARXIAN-GLOBALIST-INTERNATIONALISTS paving the way for ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT where ALL countries will be united under the DICTATORIAL RULE of The OLIGARCHS.
RIght now, The Oligarchs are working league with Marxists and Islamists, because those two elements are determined to DESTROY the United States of America and all remnants of Western Civilization .
Do the OLIGARCHS ever question their own capacity to SUBDUE and CONTROL the ferocious barbaric elements currently working as allies in the struggle to END US SOVEREIGNTY and END ANGLO-EUROPEAN-CHRISTIAN AMERICAN CULTURE once and for all?
The Oligarchs who are few in number and empowered largely by their dominance over the supply of MONEY and RAW MATERIALS would be quite helpless, I'm sure, if the Islamist Barbarians and Communist Revolutionaries were to turn in them –– which would be almost a certainty one "we" are fully disarmed, deracinated, and enslaved.
What did we expect from the rise of the neo-Maoists, determined to use identity politics to hijack our culture and exact Pol Pot style retribution on whitey?
ReplyDeleteOnly good liberals can strangle this hideous red baby in its cradle, if it's not too late already.
Ducky demonstrates over and over that he would rather look stupid than concede a point, but good liberals are speaking up, but most have been mau mau'd by the hive.

ReplyDeleteAdrienne,
DeleteAllowed? At least! From where I'm sitting, this fiasco looks to have been deliberately promoted by the Charlottesville authorities and the media.
Certainly abetted.
DeleteI've become so cynical about the origins and intent of violent incidents like this latest Event in Charlottesville that wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the White Man who Drove the Truck into the ANTIFA crowd was not in truth a LEFTIST, himself.
DeleteHard-core Leftists hve ALWAYS been MORE-than-willing to LIE, STEAL, CHEAT, MAIM and KILL to get their way.
Sacrifcing a few of their own would be perfectly in line with their perverse methodology, which has ALWAYS been based in the notion that OUR ENDS are SO RIGHTEOUS, SO NOBLE, SO FINE and SO NECESSARY that it's perfectly all right to RIOT, BOMB, LOOT, MAIM, COMMIT MAYHEM and SLAUGHTER very large numbers of fellow human beings, if it means a step in the direction of achieving "SOCIAL JUSTICE."
If ANY political faction closely resembles the "NAZIS," it surely must be the MARXIAN –– FABIAN –– SOCIALIST –– PROGRESSIVE –– LIBERAL –– STATIST –– DEMOCRATS in their many and varied forms. After "NAZI" is an acronym fr the NATIINAL SOCIALIST PARTY in Post-WWI Gwernany.
I have always maintained that there is no appreciable difference between "Nazis" and "Commies", despite their much-vaunted antagonism toward each other. BOTH end up in the same place –– a TOTALITARIAN REGIME where no individual can call his soul his own.
I deeply resent the ENEMEDIA's constantly referring to the demonstrators who DID have a PERMIT to march in favor of thei THEIR point of view as "White Supremamcists" or "Neo-Nazis"
ReplyDeleteI don't believe THEY call themselves "White Supremacists." That is a pejorative appellation conjured up by the ENEMEDIA who is in league with ANYTHING and EVERYTHING –– and EVERYONE –– that pits itself against Traditional American Culture and Christian Mores.
The ENEMEDIA –– and all these Campus Commies and self-styled crypto-Marxist "Revolutionaries" –– like CANARDO –– who constantly besiege us with their insolence in the form of carping, cavilling, sniping, sneering, always impertinent rhetoric –– are bound and determined to do everythung possible make Caucasian Christians feel ASHAMED of being who they are.
The Left will not rest till it reduces "US" to snivelling, grovelling, BEGGARS dispossessed and deracinated in our OWN land.
That is what ALL this nonsense about "the necessity of removing Civil War Monuments in order to achieve Social Justice" is REALLY all about make no istake about it.
Of course succumbing to the temptation to commit VIOLENCE against those who torment us is playing RIGHT into the hands of these fiends who seek our destruction.
The Left THRIVES on the errors "we" commit whenever we try to defend ourselves against the ceaseless insurgency Leftists visit upon us in ten-thousand ways every day of every week of every year.
The name of the game the Left forces "US" to play is this:
In THEIR minds NOTHNG that "WE" Do could EVER be considered RIGHT. We see this with the vicious, totally unprincipled campaign the Left mounted against President Trump the day he came down that famous escalator and threw his proverbial hat int the ring and told us he wanted to be our next president.
FT,
DeleteI don't believe THEY call themselves "White Supremacists."
That is also my understanding.

My stock answer to allegations of that sort is always LOOK in the MIRROR, BASTARDO.
Without objection, I will say again my comment at Bunkerville. And I will beg everyone’s pardon right at the outset for the appearance of any French-sounding words, but my questions are these:
ReplyDeleteWhy is it wrong for anyone to call themselves “white nation,” (which I do not agree with), but it is okay for groups to call themselves “Black Lives Matter,” “War on the Horizon,” “Nation of Islam,” and “New Black Panther?” I am guessing that if there is any rationale, it would more or less equate to blacks calling other blacks “nigga” and “nappy headed ho,” and yet if a white person does it, it constitutes some heinous form of racism.
If rowdies are tossing cans filled with dried cement (suggesting a premeditated act of violence), then why is it not okay for other groups to kick their asses? If these people are prepared to use automobiles to kill other human beings, then shouldn’t there be background checks before anyone can purchase one? Do the American people have the right to protect themselves from killer automobiles with, say, a .44 magnum?
If cops are going to acquiesce to perpetrators of violence, shouldn’t they remove “to protect and serve” from the side of their squad cars? (Although I should also acknowledge that when police do the right thing, their cities, states, and federal government come down on them with suspension from duty without pay and “civil rights” probes).
Given that the media isn’t calling this what it is suggests that they are a bunch of Lilly-livered cowards, completely signed on the Obama’s eight years of racist policies.
My final questions are: when a mayor sets up, orchestrates, or enables violence in his community, isn’t he guilty of the worst kind of malfeasance? Could the mayor be sued for this sort of criminal behavior? Is there anyone in Virginia who will take this to the courts? Does the American Civil Liberties Union only protect black thugs and/or registered democrats/communists?
;p

Simple, no sophistry, no French sounding words.
As far as David Duke goes, there was his endorsement of President Happy Hands and the subsequent refusal to disavow the endorsement.
DeleteOf course there's L'Affaire Jeffrey Lord (sorry, I had to use a French sounding word).
As far as the Portland shooter is concerned. He had a face book post that was more a display of his hatred of Clinton than any positive support for Sanders.
Again it was a white supremacist mouthing some insanity about "free speech". Stop me if I'm wrong but I believe he was caught on tape giving the Nazi salute.

The fact remains. There is a malignant growth in the FAR-LEFT establishment that Canard isn’t willing to excise.
DeleteI’ve never perceived of any empathy from Ducky for the victims of the Boston Bombing; nothing for Kate Steinle; I’ve heard no expressions of sorrow for the woman recently killed by an idiot, or the 19 or so people he injured. As Silverfiddle suggests, Ducky points his finger to deflect away from the filth of his own position ... it is the typical leftist run and hide. I’m guessing that Ducky has no trouble with people filling up cans with cement, letting them harden in advance of a ‘spontaneous demonstration’ and tossing them at other citizens with the intention of doing serious and permanent harm. I do not know anyone who supports white supremacist rhetoric, but I do hear a lot from the left about “Kill the pigs,” and “assassinate DJT” ... so Ducky, don’t speak to me about malignant growth until you get your own side of the isle in order.

DeleteI don't believe that and I'm not going to play your game.
Mustang represents absolutely no guide to defusing the hatred in the country right now.
By the way, the only reference I found to hardened cement cans at Charlottesville is a World Net Daily screed. The gold standard of objective reporting.

To ALL you Liberals out there, as well as you Stupid Progressive Imbicels! Listen and Read this good. And hopefully your low IQ's are high enough so that you can understand.
ReplyDeleteIf not, please have your Momma explain it to you.
The first amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees:
"the right of the people peaceably to assemble"
When watching the videos of yesterday's protest and counter protest, a large number of the people at the protest were armed - many had helmets and shields as well as various weapons ranging from clubs to pepper spray to guns.
It's apparent that these people were at best anticipating violence, and may have intended to incite violence.
The Constitution does NOT have a right to violent protest. It does note cite a right to gather as an armed mob.
The violence at yesterdays protest would probably have been a whole lot less if no one on either side had weapons of any type, and if they did not any protective gear.
Even wearing protective gear shows that they are anticipating violence. Anyone who foes to a protest while anticipating violence has no right to go to that protest.
It seems that protest groups go far beyond their Constitutional right - if they intend to incite violence or even anticipate violence, they are no longer within their Constitutional rights.
In the future, if anyone shows up at a protest or counter protest with weapons or protective gear, they should immediately be arrested. If a sizable number have weapons or protective gear, the police should use whatever means necessary to end the protest!

ReplyDeleteThese organizations are being denied a platform by private companies for "violating terms of ..."
Meanwhile, porn, murder videos and slobbering leftwing hatred of President Trump and those who voted for him continues to be posted.
See how this works? Can't claim First Amendment because its a private company denying service... kinda like the bakers who didn't want to bake the gay wedding cakes...
Illiberal leftists in this country and much of the rest of the world have been screaming for decades about the dangers of our strong free speech laws--some of the strongest and most radical in the world.
What government cannot do, private companies can, and when those private companies have an almost monopolistic hold on internet speech platform, guess what kids... They quash all speech they disagree with.
Twitter is now in the process of shutting down blogs which contained information which was not in any way controversial but fact driven. They removed their accounts.
DeleteBunkerville,
DeleteI suppose that the information is controversial in one sense: the information does not fit the narrative.
@ AOW: "Self-pity, whatever the topic or cause — be it a legitimate or an illegitimate cause — is unhealthy for the body of our republic."
ReplyDeleteAMEN!
It is also unhealthy--mentally, emotionally and physically--for the person who indulges in it.
Self pity is for moron! HATE the "other"!
Delete...and BASH the FASH! Not only is it good fun, it's great exercise!
Mob rule and the ideological result of our victimology-promoting public education system...
ReplyDeleteDurham Protesters Topple Confederate Monument, Then Spit on It, Kick It
The statue honored soldiers who fought in the Civil War.
It was a generic statue and, according to ABC:
The monument of a Confederate soldier holding a rifle was erected in 1924 and inscribed on it are the words "in memory of the boys who wore the gray."...
Also at the same ABC link:
...Shortly after 9:30 p.m., Durham Police issued a response to the protests.
"The DPD is aware that a Confederate monument was toppled at the old Durham County courthouse. Because this incident occurred on county property, where county law enforcement officials were staffed, no arrests were made by DPD officers," the department said in a statement."
Police said the Durham County Sheriff's Office is the agency that has jurisdiction over all county buildings and landmarks.
"When monitoring such incidents, the Sheriff's Office is the decision-making agency regarding law enforcement response on matters concerning county property," DPD explained.
Shortly before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Durham County issued a statement that didn't specifically mention Monday's statue incident:
"Our elected officials and senior staff understand the unrest in our nation and community, particularly following the senseless acts that took place in Charlottesville, VA. We share the sentiments of many communities around the nation that admonish hate and acts of violence as we believe civility is necessary in our every action and response. Governmental agencies dedicated to public safety will continue to work collectively to ensure Durham remains a community of excellence where all of our residents can live peacefully, grow and thrive."...

MY thought, too.
Best book out there. Readable and it builds conceptual arches of how far we have come as a nation:

Highly recommended. It was a gift from a dear friend, a left-leaning Jew who valued freedom of expression in proper manner.
