 Please enjoy the short lecture, then Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring (hat tip to Deplorable Bloggers Alliance):

Happy Weekend, Happy Spring!

  1. A Song for St. Tammany's Day.

    "On Schuylkill's banks how sweet to rove!
    Fidelia by my side;
    The nymph's and swains in every grove
    Walk like bridegroom and bride.

    "Behold you cott in gayest mood!
    Doth cleave the silver wave;
    Whilst boys behind each corps of wood,
    Their limbs do freely lave.

    "The variegated hills and dales!
    Are drest in lively green;
    The orchards and embroider'd vales
    With richest flowers are seen.

    "The little lasses dance and sing!
    And in the alcoves play;
    All nature now is on the wing!
    In all the pride of May."

  2. Sorry, this may be my very least favorite piece of music. I do not doubt that many enjoy it, and I am glad that it is available so that they can do so. As I used to say in my drinking days, "That's why they make so many varieties of booze."

  3. Thanks for your selection. One of the old standbys in our home during childhood. I did not know the history and interesting it was a ballet.

  4. FJ,
    Off topic, and please let me know if you seen the information below:

    Brooke passed away just before Christmas. Not COVID, but rather liver failure.

    1. Yes, I knew from when before I quit Facebook. Sad, I know, that so many good people died this past year. I miss them all so much. :(
