Yea, the contrast is very clear. Fists vs gus, love songs vs gangster/porn garbage, all the other stuff we all know about. Still good living to be had in the red states though. As far as I'm concerned, I can still live in my time and ignore the rest.
Kid, I live in a blue state (Virginia). My neighborhood is safe -- except that over the past few months, the rate of burglaries has soared.
I'm moving to a red state. In fact, my house, the last of the family "homesteads" has been on the market since March 17, a mere two weeks after Mr. AOW passed.
This is not as sudden a decision as it seems: I've been trying to sell off and on since 2005. My neighbor is also selling. She started the ball rolling this time. The oppressive real-estate tax rates and petty-crime rates here are running us out! Both my neighbor and I are older women living alone, and we need less stress in our lives.

ReplyDeleteLSP,
DeleteI grew up in those "good ol' days." It wasn't a perfect time, but for me and many of my generation, it was a good time.
PS: I love those cars!
"every 10 years it seems like living in a different world." - Sums it up..thanks for the memories..
ReplyDeleteBunkerville,
DeleteChange is inevitable. Change for the worse isn't inevitable, though.
