  1. LOL! Good one.

Lost in hubub over the current "crisis," "emergency," or whatever you want to call it...

... Congress has not passed a budget by regular order for over 10 years

... Obama made $1 trillion annual deficits a routine occurrence, and President Trump continues that trend

... Endless wars in sinkhole Afghanistan and other places around the globe continue with bipartisan support

...Social Security trust fund goes dry in 2034

... in 2016, interest payments on the national debt consumed 6% of the federal budget. That is projected to double to 12% in just six years, and from there will continue to climb, surpassing Medicare, Medicaid, Defense and Social Security and becoming the biggest single item in the annual federal budget

Meanwhile, Democrats and Republicans scream and scratch and throw fits over trivial matters and petty partisan squabbles.

    Fie on them all*

    * - and when I say "fie on" I really mean a much more vulgar term.

    1. Nice Silver, good list.

The only thing I will add is the deficit explosion and soaring national debt really got underway full steam during the Reagan administration. It's been picking up steam (almost exponentially) every since.

    2. Oh dear! I returned hoping to find the place had been properly disinfected and deodorized. Instead the nauseating odor of rancid HYPOCRISY remains.

  2. "Meanwhile, Democrats and Republicans scream and scratch and throw fits over trivial matters and petty partisan squabbles."

Keeping 800,000 Americans from being paid for their work is hardly trivial. Many of these Americans are one paycheck away rom disaster. Medical bills, food, rent, mortgages, etc. are hardly trivial to our fellow Americans.

Why won't Mr. Trump end the shutdown for these Americans and then negotiate with the Democrats for his wall? That's the deal on the table now. Why does Mr. Trump refuse it?

    1. The shutdown is caused by a petty partisan squabble over a (relatively) trivial amount.

I agree the result is negatively impacting hardworking people who believed the government when it promised them checks on a regular basis.

Financial institutions have stood up to support these workers with interest free loans and payment amnesty, so its not like they are out on the street, despite stories of government workers hocking their Playstations.

Estimates of 40-80% of our fellow Americans live paycheck to paycheck, and that includes people making north of 100K, 200K and 300K. Could rampant consumerism and failure to take personal responsibility and impose some fiscal discipline on oneself be part of this problem?

President Trump can't end the shutdown. Congress has to pass a budget before he can sign it.

    2. The money for the wall won't be in the house bill and he's put the House in a position where they have to give in to his tantrum.

    3. Your charcteistic flippancy and sarcastic termnology never fails to offend, Canardo. President Trump is not throwing a "tantrum," he is doing something so exceedingly rare in the rottenness of the Dee Cee Establishment it's no wi]nder no one there can properly identity it.

The president is standing firm on PRINCIPLE by not bending to the will of the DELF-SERVING, TYRANNICAL, POWER-MAD HYPOCRITES who make up the leadershit of the Democratic Party and most of the Republican Party as well.

The stench emanating from Washington, DC is more putrid even than than Dervsh Sanders' legendary halitosis –– and THAT's saying a mouthful.

    4. As for the 800,000 SINECURES living off the sweat of the taxpayers who for the most part do honest work, all I have to say is, "TOUGH!"

    5. Franco,
Around here the food banks are feeding the furloughed federal employees. And various other groups are giving them clothing, free haircuts, preferred status as public school substitutes, and more. There are also various Go Fund Me pages all over the web.

    6. Franco and AOW,

I don't understand the panic. Didn't they get their last paycheck a week or two weeks ago? A twice-monthly paycheck is for your next two weeks, so they should still be running on that.

Haven't they saved anything? Do they not know how to cut back?

Do they not have credit cards?

Do they not have a bank that realizes the situation and works with them?

      Free Haircuts???

      This is kabuki

    7. I hve no sympathy for the 800,00. I happen to know most of them are far overextended, have HUGE mortgage payments on HUGE pretentious houses they can't really afford, and tend always either to spend every cent that comes in, or live above ther means, which as far as I'm concnerned SHOULD be ample.

People who tend to be pretentious and extravagant are IMPROVIDENT, and richly deserve to experience a comeupance –– especially since they are wasting vast sums at taxpayer's expense.

Personally, I'd like to see the roster of government emplyees cut by at LEAST 40-6o%. Most of the bastards quailify as dead wood anyway.

One of my cousins, now retired, worked for INS, and one of my friends was an attorney for the U.S. Patent office. Both admiitted to me privately they felt guilty taking their salaries, because they spent half their time performning such highly productive vitally needed tasks as making paper airplanes to see how far they could fly across the office.

And what they said about the INCOMPETENT, ILLITERATE, mostly black "secretaries" who sat around doing absolutely NOTHING most of the time, except acting snotty, I couldn't tell you in a reasonably pollite forum such as this.

That none of these stupid sinecures can ever be FIRED is a National Disgrace of epic proportions., but it's an entrenched way of life, and there ain't nobody benefittng from this stinking corruption who's ever gonna do one blessed THING to change it.

    8. By the way,Silver, i don't think this standoff is cused by "petty partisan issues at all. I think it is based SOELY on a deep an abiding HTRED ––not so much fo Dinald Trump, as many assume, ––but for the mammoth DISRUPTION Mr. Trump's unexpected 2016 victory has caused in the Washngton Cartel's [that's Ted Cruz's term, and I think it a good coinage] in the Washington Cartel's agenda. By becoming our president Mr. Trump took a virtual wreckng ball to all the careful laid plans based o teSSUMPTIIN that HILLAHOG would certain;y WN.

They din't hate Dinald Trump so mch as they hate LOSING.

Trump's victory remnds of the time my mother once poured boiling water over a swarm of termites that had formed on our patio. I was only about four at the time, but the incident left an indelible impressiion on my young mind.

President Trump has done something very similar to the swarm of ideolgical termites that inhabit and constantly weaken far too much of Dee Cee.

    9. It would be most illuminating to understand how you "happen to know most of them are far overextended, have HUGE mortgage payments on HUGE pretentious houses they can't really afford, and tend always either to spend every cent that comes in, or live above ther means".

Don’t worry, I don’t actually expect an answer, because you don’t know. But you will say anything that makes you feel better. That’s how appeal to emotion plays upon the weak.

    10. I wonder how many of these county government resources were available to non-government employees during the economic downturn of 2008-2009?

    11. @ Franco: "Trump's victory remnds of the time my mother once poured boiling water over a swarm of termites that had formed on our patio"

LOL! That is some vivid imagery, and apt!

    1. Though the SOTU adress before Congress is an extravagant circus that benefits nobody beyond cable news channels and their sock puppets...and any fiscal Conservative should support is demise.......fair is fair.

    2. I agree with you on the SOTU being a useless "extravagant circus," but in this particular case, I do not want the President to relinquish this powerful bully pulpit.

    3. This POTUS, or any POTUS? With an entire communications staff, a compliant media and social media of choice........no POTUS needs yet another tax payer funded circus act.

    4. Agreed. They should agree this applies to whoever is reelected in 2020.

Despite his tactics, President Trump is fighting for the tools for fortify our border, and his border plan submitted for legislation clearly states strategically-place barriers are one piece of a multi-faceted border protection strategy.

The Dems are being dangerously childish as well. It is not "Trump's Wall;" it is The Nation's "wall."

I am fed up with our government's suicidal stupidity on immigration--it's a joke--People south of the border know it, and they treat our warnings as a joke, because they are. Cross over, surrender, get your permiso, and live a nice life with all the bennies of a US citizen.

Those to the south see us as a joke, a patsy and a dime bag whore. It makes me sick.

    1. Yes, Kid, the Jethro thing really IS funny, but as you can see, no one really wanted to find anythng to laugh at. The convesation got deadly serious right away, because the whole darned cuntry is kept in a rotten mood all the time now by the anti-Trump enemedia –– damn their benighted souls!

If you want to know, think anti-Trump conservatives are even more harmful to the country's best interests than crypto-Commie Defecrats if such a thing is possible.
