  1. The progressive left is leading society in building our own prison, and they don't even realize it. Even leftwing comedians like Trevor Noah and Rodner Figueroa who are down with the struggle have been besieged by internet pogroms.

Freedom means what they say it means, and government and the people shall become one. It is a narrow world they are constructing.

    1. Yours is but a howl in the wind, Jersey, all words, no thought. But what is politically-correct, doctrinally pure progressivism but a substitute for thought?

    3. Jersey said:

" You cons built the worlds preeminent prison state"

President Barack H. Obama, a progressive, leftist, liberal Democrat. took the prison/security state of the US (expanded in equal measure by previous Presidents both left and right) .ad not only put his stamp on it. he did what just about all of his predecessors (left and right) did: President Barack H. Obama made all aspects of the prison/security/etc state worse, more pervasive, and stronger.

Jersey, to blame this solely on "conservatives" is preposterous.

    5. I can't "get it" with the lefitst Presidents all (with perhaps the exception of Carter) growing it all on their own.

I would grant you that the prison state would be half of what it is now, if we took conservatism out of the equation. Just like it would be half if you took out liberalism.

    6. and Jersey, I admire your opposition to the police/security state. However, I don't admire your hypocrisy. You oppose the police/security state in so many ways, but when it comes to Second Amendment rights, you are one of those giving the green light to jackbooted thugs crushing the people just like in the other examples of state abuse of power which you oppose.

      Time to be more consistent....

    9. AOW: Yes, the Left more than anything is the movement of greed, materialism, "I've got mine".

It ranges from Obama saying he is helping working families while his policies force millions from their jobs ... and he rolls in millions in perks and cash taken from hard working taxpayers at ultimate threat of gunpoint...

...to Stalin, saying the rich most be stopped while he kill millions of working and poor people.

Leftism/liberalism/marxism... yes, it is not all the same. But it is on the continuum of an ideology based on jealousy and greed and the idea that the way to succeed is to beg for it or steal... rather than work for it.

An overall evil, immoral idea. Whether it is Obama's insistence that we don't need good construction jobs for Americans (Keystone pipeline) to Stalin specifically ordering the rape of millions of impoverished women in Eastern Europe as part of his putting Marxism into practice.

    12. AOW: if Jersey insulted, me, I can take it.

Yes, in several ways Jersey does indeed favor the common man over the abusive power of authority. But certainly not always. Gun policy is definitely a huge exception. There it is inverted.

Sometimes I think there is a libertarian (small L) inside Jersey yearning to breathe free. But sometimes the knee jerk fascist comes out, like when it comes to our basic human rights protected in the Second Amendment. There, Jersey supports brutal and deadly government policy, and he totally forgets the people and their rights.

    13. AOW: And if Jersey does respond in a civil and non-insulting manner to me? I'd appreciate seeing it. But know you might not want to allow that due to his playground behavior.

He's not that awful. He's not like W.Dervish... the guy who decided to try to write about his penis and that of his male idols for hundreds of messages on my blog after I banned him for outright spamming.

    14. Dmarks,
Some of my students read this blog. I do not want playground behavior condoned.

      Discussion? Yes. Dissent? Yes.

I teach literature courses, and there is quite a bit of dissent about interpretations, symbolism, etc. Fun to watch these civil discussions in my classroom! The works which have sparked the most intense discussions: "Enoch Arden," Of Mice and Men, and Death Be Not Proud, (John Gunther's memoir, not the Donne poem).

I agree with you that he's not like some other bloggers, who do the types of things which you mentioned in your comment.

  3. It s Official the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) Growth In The First Quarter of 2015 was Zero!

    1. Just for an easy measurement stick. As long as the Fed Funds Rate stays at or near Zero, there isn't nor has there been any economic recovery.

    2. Yesh, you really have to cook the numbers to make the era of Obama look good. Much worse deficits than Bush, far fewer people working than under Bush, the US meddling in more countries militarily than under Bush, significantly worse poverty (especially black poverty) than under Bush, etc.

The only way unemployment numbers look good now is if you intentionally deceive by leaving off many of the unemployed.

And this, Jersey, is a creation of the left, not of the "cons". Like with the police/security state I mentioned earlier, Obama took what the "cons" left him, and chose to make it worse instead of better.

      Delete
    3. Dmarks,
Does it even matter what the numbers are if the reality on the ground is nearly the complete opposite of the scripted optimism?

Aren't there 93 million unemployed Americans?

And how many underemployed Americans are there?

    4. Kid,
Yet, the Ministry of Truth keeps telling us that we're in an economic recovery.

It's so anemic a recovery that it isn't discernible.

    1. HAPPY EASTER, Z!

I once knew a doctor who'd been a medical missionary to India. She'd had a superb education at Smith College and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Later she earned a degree from the University of London's School of Tropical Medicine.

At any rate, she told me she worked WITH the practitioners of folk medicine in India and learned many things of great value from them.

A GREAT woman! Probably the only TRUE Christian I've ever known through and through. You would have loved her, I know. She was made of good solid stuff very like your husband's Tante Nana whom you described so eloquently and so touchingly several years ago.

Albert Schweitzer was like that too –– always open to all possibilities that might prove helpful no matter where they originated. Great people are usually like that.

    2. That's really interesting, FT. I do think I'd have liked her.

We imagine our medicines are THE BEE'S KNEES but the truth is people thrived on natural medicines (herbs, berries, folk medicines, as you describe it).......And they probably had far less side effects.
Thank you for remembering my piece about Tante Nana....she was quite a lady.

      Happy Easter!

    4. Z: They "thrived" on them, and had much shorter lifespans....

Truth be told there are nuggets of validity found in those traditional medicines, but so much of it is the worst sort of quackery (think of rhino horn)

    5. Yes, they did get better from diseases that seem impossible to have rid ourselves of back then, but you're right...much shorter life spans. Good point! They didn't cure EVERYTHING we can today!

  6. Well I find that medical 'discovery' fascinating and provocative. I read more. They tried the elements separately with no effect. They tried them diluted. And while it didn't kill the bacteria it disabled their communication system required to act. So they were, in essence, neutered.

I'm not surprised. There is a lot of hogwash (then and now) - just read what Moses would have learned about medicine in pharoah's court! But there's much intelligent discovery. Even more fascinating since they didn't know the mechanisms at work. E.g., they thought plague spread through the air in cramped and stuffy London so they got out of town and survived (away from the pestilential fleas, of course).

    1. Baysider,
My grandmother on my father's side did not have a degree in medicine -- although she did have a college degree.

She spent many years "tending the sick" before she married my grandfather late in life in 1907.

During those years as one who tended the sick, my grandmother used a lot of natural remedies. One of those remedies was for kidney failure: watermelon-seed tea. My grandmother's patients receiving that tea did very well for several years.

  7. Yes, Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi, where do I begin? Let's start with this, as the result of the Benghazi tragedy in which our ambassador and three other staff were killed on 9-11-2012—the anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center the emails of the then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have gone missing along with all the rest of those emails that have been wiped clean from her personal server. I can still recall seeing her stand beside the President when both he and she blatantly lied to American public and the rest of the world that the attack was the result of a video that even til today, no one has ever seen. And this is just the beginning of that made up scandal is one series of lies and garbage, it's crystal clear to see that once ALL the FACTS and the TRUTH of the matter comes out I’m sure that there is much more that we have n’t heard yet. And that more revelations are yet to come..
    LETS KEEP THIS ALIVE!

But what all the fascists are telling us (as opposed to what they say) is that they don't care. It's not that they don't believe it's all a pack of lies it's just that they are good little fascists and will ignore whatever they have been told to ignore for the good of the Fascist State.

  9. Barbara Streisand Likens Obama To A God:
The AP recently conducted an interview with Barbara Streisand about her upcoming album that nobody cares about. Because she is such a left-wing lunatic, talk of duets quickly turned to politics in which the robustly beaked singer fawned over President Obama, even comparing him to a god.

No wonder that I can’t stand this dumb-assed wacko.

I seriously suggest that this Left-wing Nut-Job checked herself into the nearest Lunatic Asylum as quickly as possible.

Like most Leftwing Marxists, she is a degenerate moron, who worships a Marxist our American version of the Commie Terrorist Nelson Mandela.. Talk about an ignorant asswipe!
