"What is truth?"

  2. According to B.O. this "agreement" is an alternative to "war". This while Iran conducts a [proxy] war throughout the Middle East. WHAT?

    Iran Won!
The Agreement reached on 'framework' for final Iran nuke deal...

    The Sanctions will be terminated...

    No nuke sites closed...

ALL Research and development to continue... NONE of the nuclear plants will be closed, or even suspended.

And Iran the nuclear largest STATE OF TERRORISM will get exactly what they wanted.

You couldn't have expected any better deal from this incompetent band of whackjobs. This worked out exactly to my expectations . Iran has agreed to not conduct research and development associated with uranium enrichment at Fordow for 15 years. and if you believe them and trust them, then you most likely believe in Unicorns and pots of gold at the end of rainbows! Keep telling yourself that.

Also in the Late Breaking News!

In a setback, the U.S. economy gained 126,000 jobs last month, much worse than expected.

  4. This will be like each month's release of economic data: Revised down the following month. The framework for agreement will be revised down to a handshake promising further talks.

Also, anyone who buys the "hardliners" being "Upset" at the agreement doesn't see Iran's Good Cop-Bad Cop routine for what it is.

Make no mistake. Nothing happens in Iran, especially at this high level of government, without the approval of the Ayatollahs.

    1. SF,
It is Islamic to negotiate only from a position of strength. That's exactly what the ayatollahs have done. Iran is an Islamic theocracy.

    2. AOW: I don't think there is anything particularly Islamic in what they are doing. It's just being smart. Iran had absolutely nothing to lose in these negotiations. The sanctions are on and they are spinning the centrifuges. Meanwhile, Kerry and Obama are on their knees begging them for a deal, any deal to give Obama a legacy.

    3. SF,
If I am not mistaken, there is something in the Quran or the Sira about negotiating from a position of strength.

      A quick search yielded this:

...From the very first day, we have said that negotiations should be conducted from a position of strength.... -- Sayyed Nasrallah, December 2014

There is also the matter of hudna. I'm sure that you are familiar with the concept of hudna.

    4. But it is not an exclusively Islamic principle. They probably jumped on this because they saw in Obama a chicken ripe for the plucking

    5. SF,
      Certainly not exclusive.

Iran sees Obama as weak. As you put it: they saw in Obama a chicken ripe for the plucking.

      Obama -- "leading from behind."

  5. Iran has a nuclear agreement with a liar. In two years, there will no longer be an agreement, since the liar will be gone and the Israeli's will bomb Iran's facilities.

    1. In other words, the agreement, far from creating "peace", leads inevitably to a general Middle East war.

World War M is already in its early stages.

I expect that Saudi Arabia is ramping up -- big time.

    3. If Iran continues its development then, yes, you will likely see Saudi, Turkey and Egypt start making moves.

      Now, you have two choices:

      1. Negotiate a settlement. Unfortunately the right is joining with Nuttyyahoo to block this option completely, even before the nature of the agreement is completely revealed.

      2. Status quo with the danger that Nuttyyahoo will do something really stupid like try to bomb Iran.

What is the liklihood of getting all these players to behave? Not good but they well be sensible enough to realize that there are so many splinter freak groups now that nuclear escalation is an incredibly dangerous game to play.

      Delete
    4. "This" settlement pretends to do something to stop Iran from getting a bomb. Sanctions were ACTUALLY accomplishing something to prevent it. Which would you rather have, pretense or reality?.

Like I said, the bombing will commence in January (around the 21st) of 2017.

    5. FJ,
Is there any way for intelligence to gain any reliable information about Fordow.

Taking Iran's word for cessations of such deeply-hidden facilities is stupid

Supposedly, the centrifuges that Iran has right now are quite primitive and outdated. If trade opens up (sanctions eased, etc.), will Iran then obtain more efficient centrifuges?

    6. At least twice, Obama has reminded us ofthis:

After the 1979 revolution, a clandestine nuclear weapons research program was disbanded by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini (1902–1989), who considered such weapons as haram (sinful) and forbidden as unethical and immoral in Muslim jurisprudence.

Did Obama mentioned that the "forward-thinking" ayatollah died in 1989? Nope. And what has Iran been doing in the meantime? Abiding by any such fatwa? **snort**

I don't believe in unicorns. Apparently a lot of people today do believe in them, however. **snort again**

    7. Furthermore (from the above link):

In November 2011, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors criticized Iran after an IAEA report concluded that before 2003 Iran likely had undertaken research and experiments geared to developing a nuclear weapons capability. The IAEA report details allegations that Iran conducted studies related to nuclear weapons design, including detonator development, the multiple-point initiation of high explosives, and experiments involving nuclear payload integration into a missile delivery vehicle.

Maybe the world will end with a bang and not a whimper after all.

    8. Fordo was inspected by the IAEC, or so they say. But that doesn't mean squat for all their "undisclosed" facilities.

  6. One important piece of truth:

Today is Good Friday, the day Jesus Christ was brutally put to death –– a willing victim –– a human sacrifice –– for the sake of all humanity.

I've tried to mark the occasion with appropriate solemnity and reverence at my blog.

    http://freethinkesblog.blogspot.com/2015/04/christ-crucified-thomas-eakins-1880.html#comment-form

As for the Middle East today it seems to have made little or no progress since the time Jesus lived as a mortal man among men. Could that be, because the entire region –– including Israel –– rejected Jesus and thus failed to benefit from the Meaning and Purpose of His Life and Sacrifice?

I tend to think so. We could all do with a lot less talking, a lot less griping, a lot less fear mongering, and a lot more praying both for our personal salvation and to show –– and hopefully generate –– confidence in the ever-present redeeming power of Almighty God.

He cannot help us, unless we acknowledge His Presence –– and his Authority. Those who cannot bring themselves even to hope that He exists are not rejected or condemned, but indifference or hostility to the idea that He lives brings about its own punishment –– the anxiety, anger, dejection, bitterness, harshness, and perpetual dissatisfaction that comes with cynicism or the worship of false gods.

May Heaven bless us with a REAWAKENING of FAITH, for without it we are doomed to fall by the wayside.

  10. Silver... why is it that when the labor news is good, it is because the books have been cooked and the numbers are not to be believed, yet when they are not so good, conservatives are quick to pounce and accept those numbers as Gospel?

I've addressed you because you generally are an honest broker regarding ideas.

I've got to the point of being tired of the constant carping from both sides and with people looking for ideological solutions as opposed to solutions based in reality.

As for the Iranian framework agreement, what real world solutions, that will benefit the US are there?

    1. Dave, It was a simple observation. I can't recall another period of time besides the Obama administration when economic data is announced, trumpeted! and then a month later revised downward.

They announced jobs numbers this morning on the radio, and then added parenthetically that last month's numbers had been revised downward. That is why I made that statement.

      Delete
    2. Silver, those numbers have been adjusted for years, across many admins... I'm not doubting there will be movement... sometimes those numbers have been up, others down.

My beef is with people, some of whom commented here today, that, as I mentioned, call the books cooked when they look good for Obama, and bastions of truth when they look bad for him.

I don't recall people questioning other admins at this level in the past when we've had revisions, or when they disliked whomever the pres was.

    3. Silverfiddle, monthly economic data is nearly always revised.

This is nothing new and like the right trying to have us believe Obama is responsible for changing the unemployment definition it's just another example of Obama derangement Syndrome.

  15. A changed Iran? Obama aides divided (emphasis mine):

Both President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry have suggested that a nuclear deal with Iran could be a step towards thawed relations between Washington and Tehran. But experts and even some senior administration officials are more skeptical, warning that a deal might not moderate Iran’s clerical regime and could even embolden it.

IMO, it is the latter: emboldening.

    1. Sure...the sanctions are lessened; the regime has the attention of the public who'd been suffering from sanctions. It's a win/win for the mullahs.
